Addicted to CAS Week 1 – Snow & Less is More Week 95 – Glamour and Glitz

We'd love you to display our banner

This really isn’t a new post … it’s just that when I did my original post (see the next one down, it’s the same card!), the links to Addicted to CAS and Less is More wouldn’t work … I was told the link was already there (along with everyone else’s lovely creations), but when I checked, it wasn’t on either one (it was fine on Unscripted Sketches and CAS-ual Fridays though so I don’t know what happened!).  Anyway, I’ve tried about a dozen times to get it linked and can’t (and I am feeling a smidgy bit frustrated that I don’t know enough to fix it!), so I thought maybe if I do a separate post, I could link it … here’s hoping!

Everything is on the previous post, so just roll down and it’ll all be there.  Thanks so much for coming by, especially if you’ve already seen this!  Anita 🙂

Unscripted Sketches #186, Addicted to CAS #1 (Snow), Less is More #95 (Glamour and Glitz), CAS-ual Fridays #79 (Winter Blues)

We'd love you to display our banner

Firstly today, a huge Thank You to CASology, and especially to Rosemary on the Design Team, for  an Honorable Mention in last week’s challenge where the cue card was ‘Gobble’.  I’m so proud to display the badge here 🙂   I do love this challenge … the cue cards are always fun and imaginative and really push you to come up with something creative … and the examples from the super talented Design Team are so inspiring.  If, by any chance you haven’t been over for a visit, and you enjoy CAS (or aspire to it!), do pop over and have a browse, you won’t be able to not be inspired!  (Actually, try any of the challenges on my side bar, they’re all pretty wonderful!)

I have a card to share with you today which started off just for Unscripted Sketches … as it came together, I also realised it would work for Addicted to CAS (Snow) … then it morphed to fit with ‘Glamour and Glitz’ at Less is More … and it finally ended up also matching up with ‘Winter Blues’ at CAS-ual Fridays!  Now, it’s probably a bit early to say but I think I may just have the early signs of Multi-Challengitis … and I’m not sure there’s any cure … what fun!!  All the images are die cuts from glitter card … I trimmed the ‘snowflake chains’ (well they do look a bit like daisy chains!) to different lengths, coloured the back with different shades of blue, threaded them onto baker’s twine and left them to ‘hang’ rather then fixing them down.  With the bigger flakes I fixed one flat to the card and the remaining two on different depths of foam dots.  Some bling finished them off.

Recipe:  Cardstock: Crafter’s Companion, Stash,  Twine:  Stash,  Colours: Promarkers,  Die Cuts: Cricut, Stretch Your Imagination and Accent Essentials Cartridges.

Hope you’re having a fabulous week … thanks so much for coming by … Anita 🙂

Later Edit … I’m having trouble linking to LIM and ATCAS for some reason … inlinks tells me they’re already there when they’re not (or at least I can’t see them!!) … I’ll try to link again later, perhaps the ethernet will have calmed down by then and may be more accepting!

One Layer Wednesday #115 (Gift Tags)

Heather is hosting this week’s One Layer Wednesday Challenge where the theme is Gift Tags … and this is my first one of the season!  Not only have I not really got going with my Christmas cards, I’ve also not got going with anything else Christmas-y either … ho hum, it’s still November!

Having said that, Advent starts at the end of this week … so it’s about time I did get started!  I guess with this gift tag, I’ve stuck pretty well to the reason we celebrate Christmas … not that I don’t love all the Santas, Christmas trees, snowmen, snowflakes, etc etc … I do … I think they’re wonderfully fun images and I’ve really enjoyed using some of them in my cards.  This time though, I thought I’d get back to basics … I used part of a stamp I plan on using for most of my cards this year (it was too big to use as it was for a tag) … and I highlighted the halo, star and open letters on the key words in the sentiment with glitter … it seemed to fit.  Apart from that, I inked the edges and added some silver ribbon and I was done!

Here’s the recipe:  Cardstock: Crafter’s Companion,  Stamps: Penny Black,  Ink: Stazon,  Glitter: Stickles,  Ribbon: Last Year’s Wrapping!

I’m going to make a start on my ‘Challenge Tour’ for this week and see what wonderful creations are out there!  Thanks so much for coming by, and especially so if you’ve had time to make a comment … it’s a delight to read them!  Anita 🙂

Less is More #95 (Glamour and Glitz) & Addicted to CAS #1 (Snow) & Playdate Café #158 (Rose, Eucalyptus, Slate) … Again

We'd love you to display our banner

OK, here’s the second trio challenge card, which has tons of white space and is very CAS!  It’s glitzy and snowy with the glittered swiss dot (snow-like) embossing and the snowflake (for Less is More‘s Glitz and Glamour, and for Addicted to CAS‘ Snow), and for The Playdate Café‘s colours, the ‘ribbon’ is rose on slate, the snowflake is eucalyptus and the sentiment is slate.  Voila!

Ingredients:  Cardstock: Bazzill, Docrafts,  Snowflake Brad: Lakeland,  Sentiment: Stampendous, Glitter:  Stickles.

I do have a tag to upload for OLW but as it’s getting on, I’m going to do dinner first … and I may get to it later … or tomorrow!  Thanks for popping by … Anita 🙂

Less is More #95 (Glamour and Glitz) & Addicted to CAS #1 (Snow) & Playdate Café #158 (Rose, Eucalyptus, Slate)

Today I’ve done some combining … not that it started off that way, just that as things evolved (as they do in the craftosphere) I came to realise that two of my three creations fitted three challenges (yay, first time for a trio!) … twice over!

Over at Less is More, Chrissie and Jen have created some wonderfully inspiring ‘Glitz and Glamour’ cards … even the photo’s of Mandi’s shop are amazingly inspiring … what an elegant place!  It’s the very first challenge at Kylie’s Addicted to CAS, where the code word is ‘Snow’, so it’s really good to have a go at a squeaky new challenge 🙂  Finally, I used the lovely colour combination from The Playdate Café … Rose, Eucalyptus and Slate.

So, here’s my CAS Christmas tree … pearl base card, glitter card tree and sentiment panel, and bling to meet LIM, the tree is covered in snow (it’s white and glisteny!) for ATCAS, and for PDC, the gems are rose and eucalyptus (they don’t look it in the photo but in real life they are), the tree trunk is eucalyptus, the tree base is slate and the base card is a blue-y slate-y pearl-y colour.

I die cut the tree, added the gems and coloured the back of the white glitter card for the star, trunk and base, and then used foam dots to give it all some dimension (I’ve a penchant for foam dots at the moment … they’re coming up (!) again and again).  For the sentiment I did some jiggery-pokery.  The full stamp was just too big for this card, so I masked the middle bits and stamped direct to the card in two stages.  Mmm … catastrophe … I skewed the stamp at the last moment and it ended up a bit of a splodge (not CAS at all!).  So the big question was do I start again or try a tweak … I went and did the dishes to reflect!  As you can see, I tweaked it, and stamped a glitter card panel with Stazon (didn’t know if it would work but it did … first time!) and inked the edges.  Done.

Ingredients:  Cardstock: Southfield Stationers and Stash,  Colour: Promarkers,  Bling: Papermania,  Stamp:  Penny Black,  Ink: Stazon.

Shortly there’ll be another very quick post with the second card for the same challenges!  Thanks so much for coming by … Anita 🙂

CASology Week 20 (Gobble)

The team at CASology have come up with a really fun cue card this week … ‘Gobble’ … most appropriate given the celebrations of our American friends on Thursday (and probably ongoing!).  In deference to all the turkeys who were invited to the dinner table for said celebration, I tried to come up with something non-turkey-ish, hence the above card.

Did you ever get that feeling when you were young and growing … the one where you needed something BIG to eat NOW?  Cake, cookies, biscuits, chocolate, ice-cream, ……………. (insert here what your favorite was) … and then you found the BIG thing and simply demolished it … one minute it was there and the next it was all gobbled up and gone.  Hmm … still happens …. ??

I used three identical images and took ‘bites’ out of them before cutting them out, colouring them (choosing the right colours took just an age) and popping them up with foam dots.  The sentiment was done on the computer.

Here’s what I used:  Cardstock: Crafter’s Companion,  Stamp: Pink Petticoat,  Colours: Promarkers

I’m off to have a meander around Casology and check out the creations everyone else has come up with … thanks for dropping in, and especially so if you’ve had time to make a comment, I love to read your feedback … Anita 🙂

Unscripted Sketches 185

Today I have a card to share with you for Unscripted Sketches … or at least I hope it’s for that anyway.  I’m not certain when the challenge closes for the week, just that there’s a new one every Saturday morning … it’s Friday evening now, so I hope I’m in time!  I haven’t played along with the monthly PIGGYBACK CHALLENGE before … it’s a monthly optional addition to the sketch, and this week, it’s dry embossing.  As I love the texture embossing gives, I’ve included it.

I’ve kept the card pretty CAS, with the main image being a die cut nesting in it’s own frame … cutting out the frame to go around the die cut meant I could pop it up with foam dots to give dimension.  The two were matted onto pink to pick up some of the colours in the hearts and even though it doesn’t show well on the photo, I glossed the hearts.  The only other addition was a strip of swiss dots embossed card, also matted onto pink and with the dots picked out in green, again to go with the hearts.  I know the embossed strip wasn’t on the sketch, but I used artistic licence … for me it draws the eye to the sentiment strip on the image … and I liked it!!

Recipe:  Cardstock:  American Crafts, Docrafts,  Image: Craftwork Cards,  Glossing:  Sakura Gloss Pen,  Colour: Promarker,  Tools: Cuttlebug, Cuttlebug EF.

That’s it for tonight … for those of you who celebrated Thanksgiving yesterday, I hope you had a wonderful celebration with lots of fun and joy around family and friends.  Thanks so much for your visit … Anita 🙂
