CASology #37 (Hope)

What a wonderful cue card at CASology this week (Hope) … a perfect choice for Easter … so I made a card for you all …

CASology 37

I love the image, it’s so celebratory … it’s from Stampendous, stamped and embossed in white, and the ‘Hope’ is cut with Cricut Lyrical Letters with the ‘middles’ added back in.  I added a grosgrain ribbon, the green sequins topped with pearls, rounded the corners of the base panel and popped it up on foam dots.  Voila … to wish you and all those you love and hold dear a Happy and Blessed Easter full of hope and joy.

Off to enjoy the creative delights all the other CASologists have come up with this week.  Thanks so much for coming over, your visits and comments are a delight!  Anita 🙂

Muse #10, Less is More #112 (Beads)

When I saw that my ultra talented friend Ardyth was the muse this week at Muse Card Club, my heart did a little jump for joy … delighted that she was providing the inspiration this week and then completely bowled over by the delectable circles card she created for us.  Happiness was definitely in the air because over at Less is More, the inspirational Chrissie and Jen have given us ‘Beads’ to play with … and in my mind, beads go beautifully with circles … don’t you love it when that happens?

Here’s Ardyth’s inspiration …

stunning isn’t it?  This is my take on it …

Muse 10, LIM 112

As some of you know, I love circles … so there are circles everywhere here …. colour bases, cut out panel, concentric pattern, embossing and the tiny beads, even the corners are rounded!  There was so much happiness in the air whilst I was creating it, that’s the sentiment I chose.  It reminds me of those little enclosed maze puzzles we had as children where you had to get the ball bearing into the centre hole … they were always fiendishly tricky … happily, this card wasn’t!

Off to do some blog browsing to enjoy what everyone else has created for these two fun challenges this week … thanks so much for coming by, I really appreciate your visits and comments.  Anita 🙂

Unscripted Sketches #203, Addicted to CAS #9 (Spring)

Tonight I’m playing along with Unscripted Sketches (where I’ve not played for ages) and with Addicted to CAS, where the amazing Harriet is the host and has chosen the theme ‘Spring’.  What a lovely idea, especially as it seems we’ve waited/continue to wait (depending on where you are) a long time for winter to pass this year.

We always know spring has well and truly arrived here when the small tree we have in the courtyard is festoned in creamy white blossom … and this week it’s at last begun to bud (about four weeks later than usual).  It’ll be another week or so before it’s in full flower, but I used it as inspiration for my card anyway … here’s a picture of it a few years ago, in all it’s spring glory (even after it’d had a pretty severe haircut!) …

I focused on the green and white, which always seems fresh and spring like, and made this …

US 203, ATCAS 9

US_Sketch203

The image is from Penny Black, stamped and embossed in white, framed and with the leaves coloured in white.  The sentiment (p’raps I could’ve used ‘frond’ instead of ‘friend’!) is a Paper Smooches one and the gems match the green IRL (they look a bit muddy here).   Think I must have a thing in my head at the moment for having elements peeking out over the edge … this is the second time this week!

Time for bed for now … I’ll be having a sightseeing tour around blogland tomorrow to see what everyone else has been inspired to create.  Hope your week is turning out to be a happy one … thanks so much for coming by, your visits and comments are a joy!  Anita 🙂

CAS(E) this Sketch #20, CAS-ual Fridays #95 (No Stamps)

This is the first time I’ve had chance to play along with CAS(E) this Sketch for a few weeks …  also I missed last week’s CAS-ual Fridays challenge, so it’s good to be able to share a card for both.  The CTS sketch is by Jackie (fabulous as ever!) and the fun theme at CFC is ‘No Stamps’ …here’s what I made yesterday …

CTS 20, CFC 95

The die cuts are from Fancy Pants Designs (remains of the package from Cropped Event), popped up on dimensionals of different depths and with one leaf peeking out over the card edge.  The pot (the base of a tree trunk that’s just too big to use on a card) acts as the ‘pocket’.  The sentiment is a rub-on from Pebbles that I’ve had for a while … seems the style goes with the simple flowers.  I did faux piercing round the edge of the image panel with a black fine liner and added a border to the card base with a Promarker.  Oh, and I made a conscious effort to apply the rule of thirds I’ve heard so much about … don’t know if it made a difference but it seems to have worked out alright!

Looking forward to a browse around all the other entries later, to see everyone’s inspiring creations.  Hope you’re having a Happy Monday … thanks so much for coming by, I really appreciate your visits and comments!  Anita 🙂

Muse #9, CASology #36 (Song)

This is the first time I’ve been able to get to my craft desk all week … and my contact with the computer’s been almost non existent too … so I’m pleased to squeeze in a little time in blogland to catch up and decontract!  First off, many many thanks to Judy for choosing my extraterrestrial card (ha, said it again!) for a CASology Honourable Mention, it made this non-crafty, non-bloggy week very smiley!  Next, some belated birthday greetings to Kim at cupcakescardsandkim … hope you had a very happy day!  Finally I have a card to share which is for Muse, where the inspiration card comes from the highly talented Marion Vagg, and for Casology, where the theme is ‘Song’ … here’s Marion’s card …

… and here’s my take …

Muse 9, CASology 36

I focused on the white embossing over colour blocks and the sentiment from Paper Smooches … and my song to go with it is ‘Lavender’s Blue’ … the colours fit and the flower image seemed to me to go with the ‘dilly, dilly’ words that follow!

I have just a few minutes to link, so I’m off to do that … I’ll be travelling the blogiverse later to see all the lovely cards everyone’s made.  Thanks so much for coming by, your visits and comments are a delight!  Anita 🙂

Edit a few minutes later … my timing was out and I missed the deadline at Muse (by an hour … is EST already on summertime?) oh well, I’ll know for next week!

One Layer Wednesday #131 (Green, White, Orange), Less is More #111 (Frame It)

Ardyth is the host at One Layer Wednesday this week, where there’s a colour theme … Green, White and Orange, the colours of the Irish flag, in honour of St Patrick’s Day.   Over at Less is More, there’s a ‘Frame It’ challenge, where there needs to be a frame of some sort on our designs … stamped, drawn, doodled, die cut, or whatever our imagination dictates!  Here’s  where my imagination took me …

OLW 131, LIM 111

Yep, the urge to experiment and try a little spongeing again came upon me.  I cut a framed flower using Cricut Lyrical Letters … it’s a reasonably simple one, so it could be used as a mask.  I taped the (very narrow) frame edges of it to the card and then …

  • Took out the stamens and sponged in butterscotch
  • Replaced the stamens, took out the four corners and sponged in green
  • Took off the mask, taped out just the frame and sponged the whole image with orange
  • Removed the tape, put the full mask back in place and sponged the card in green
  • Took off the mask, used a glue pen to highlight the stamens and added glitter

Voila … a one layer card with a frame.  After my last attempt at spongeing, I was prepared for this to take an age, but it didn’t … the most time consuming thing was clearing up inky fingers, sponges and ink mat afterwards!

Hope you’re having a Happy Sunday … thanks so much for coming by, your visits and comments really do mean a lot!  Anita 🙂

CASology #35 (Extraterrestrial)

The lovely ladies at CASology continue to come up with the most creative cue cards … this week it’s ‘Extraterrestrial’ …  is that amazing and fun or what?  I love saying ‘extraterrestrial’, it’s a word you can really get your mouth around … or maybe it’s just me!  Anyway, onto my card …

CASology 35

This is the third attempt … the rest are in the paper bin after a couple of unearthly disasters (and most of the evening).  I copied the world onto a circle in black fineliner and coloured it with Promarkers (look … no snow or rain or cloud).  The extraterrestrials (I just had to write that in full so I could say it again) are from Paper Smooches and were stamped, coloured, had gems added to their antennae (they can hear all the way across the universe with those little beauties) and were popped up on dimensionals.  I’d have loved to have added googly eyes because they should really have them, but I don’t have any their eyes got flattened by the g-force on their journey through space … so I satisfied myself by adding eyelashes to the girly one.  The sentiment (which is where I got the idea for this creation) is from WPlus9.

I’m off for a browse around my fellow CASologists’ entries … as Mr Spock would say … live long and prosper.  Thanks so much for coming by, your visits and comments leave me smiling all over my face … Anita 🙂
