One Layer Wednesday #138 (Spring has Sprung), Less is More 118 (Colour)

The uber talented Susan is the host at One Layer Wednesday this week and has set us the challenge of celebrating spring on a card (Spring has Sprung) … and at Less is More, Chrissy and Jen have a colour challenge, we get to showcase two colours opposite one another on the colour wheel.  I started out with the ‘Spring is sprung, the grass is ris, I wonder where the birdies is’ ditty, but couldn’t come up with anything bird-like that I cared for, so went instead for simple spring flowers using yellow-green and violet-red …

OLW 138, LIM 118

The image is from Penny Black, stamped twice in Stazon Black.  I watercoloured it once, spritzed it, allowed the colour to spread (there’s a hint of the violet red in the space above the blooms and of the yellow-green around the stems), and then before it was quite dry, I re-watercoloured it.  The double embossed line kept the colour from running into the sentiment panel (sentiment from Kaisercraft).

I’m off to do some visiting around the blogosphere, so might see you there … thanks so much for coming by, your visits and comments make my day!  Anita 🙂

Hi Anita. Love the way you’ve watercolored the image. Thanks for sharing the tips about spritzing and re-watercoloring … and the scored line to hold the color! Must give this a try! Loll xx

Hey pal. I’m out and about for a quick peak around blog land to see what I have been missing! And wow, I’ve missed a whole lot of amazingness right here in your lovely paper craft world! This card is stunning! I love the technique and the gorgeous soft, watercolor look. Absolutely beautiful. I never would have guessed that the scored lines would keep the color from spreading – clever idea!
