Muse #35 (Marion Vagg), CASE Study #158, Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge 18/9 (STAMPtember), CAS-ual Fridays #115 (Fall Colours and a Leaf)

I misplaced a memory yesterday … I’d had it all week, but on the one day when I planned to use it, it did a disappearing act.  Was my brain too full of other stuff to recall it?  Mmm, nothing new there then.  Was I distracted by the sight of the blue sky and sunshine for the first time in a week?  Perhaps, but probably not.  Maybe it was the excitement of getting the housework done?  Huh, as if.  Anyway, misplaced it was until today when it reappeared … so I thought I’d share it with you, a day late … My Papercraft World is a year old!

In the last twelve months, I’ve been so fortunate to ‘meet’ such a worldwide group of lovely crafters … talented, inspiring, supportive and generous people who make up our crafty community.  And that’s not all … within that group of lovely crafters, I’ve also had the chance to become friends with some of the sweetest, most encouraging and loving people you could hope to meet … I consider myself truly blessed to be in such company.  So to everyone, for everything, thank you from the bottom of my heart :).  Here’s a card to say so …

Muse 35, CASE Study 158, CFC 115, SSSW 18-9

I was inspired here by a number of challenges.   At Muse, Marion Vagg has given us a richly coloured floral card, and at CASE Study, where it’s my first time playing along, Kathy Racoosin is the muse.  I’ve not played along at CAS-ual Fridays since having my time away on the renovation, so it’s good to be back with the theme of ‘Fall Colours and a Leaf’, and finally, I’m submitting this card to Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge where we’ve to use something from the store … I used The Alley Way Stamps‘ Petal Pushers and Awesome Blossom.

          Simon Wednesday Challenge Blog

The flowers and leaves were stamped, coloured with Promarkers, trimmed out and mounted on a polka dot embossed panel using different depths of foam dots.  I stamped the sentiment, added the gingham bow, fixed the panel to some orange/gold DP and adhered it all to a textured card base with rounded bottom corners.  I’d really appreciate some advice about embossed backgrounds and stamping … is it better to stamp then emboss or to emboss then stamp?  I did the latter, but flattened the dots beforehand and ‘refilled’ them afterwards to get a crisp finish … p’raps it would’ve been better to do the former in the first place!  What do you do?

I’d like to say hello this evening to Tonilea .. a new non-blogging but Pinterest-ing friend … you’re very welcome along … and thank you 🙂  I’d also like to say thank you so much to my fellow players at Muse last week, for the Honourable Mention for my rainbow roofed house card!

I’ll be back shortly with my last card of the weekend … thanks so much for coming by, as ever, your visits and comments are always a joy!  Anita 🙂

Congratulations on your anniversary, and many, many more to come dear friend. I’d happy dance for you, but I think my last one set off an earthquake in Yellowstone! lol Big hugs though.

Such a beautiful card. Bright and happy. And, a huge congratulations on your one year anniversary of blogging. What a great milestone. As for your question–I always stamp before embossing. I think I was told that in one of the online classes. The reason is that if you stamp after embossing, it is much harder to get a good impression. And, since I emboss almost every time I make a card, I would ruin too much paper if I did it the other way. If I am die cutting too, then my order is–die cut, stamp, emboss.

Happy blogiversary, Anita! Doesn’t time fly when you’re having fun in bogland? And even though it’s a virtual world, the friendships made are real. Love the card (and well done you for meeting all those challenges in one card!), and I agree with Joyce, stamp first before embossing – vital on a more textured panel.

Definitely stamp and then emboss. That way you don’t get little gaps where the ink can’t reach! Congratulations also on your one year of blogging. I don’t know how you do it all with such a large renovation on hand too, but well done anyway. Love your little flowers too, such lovely colours.

Happy 1st Bloggie B-day dear friend….but, the pleasure is all ours! Getting to know you has definitely made my blogging world a happy one! It’s true, the support of our crafting community is something to be treasured. We are all so fortunate to be able to share in each other’s company!

Your beautifully colored (awesome shading) posies look stunning against the embossed background. Perfect color choice to herald in the changing of the season!

I posed the exact same question earlier this week! The advice was to stamp first, emboss later! Haven’t had time to try it, but it seems that it would provide a nice crisp image (and it sure would beat flattening a whole whack of dots!!!)

Happy Blog Anniversary (sorry I am late!) Your blog is such an inspiration to me – you are so very talented and also so supportive with your lovely comments even though I don’t blog very much! Thank you! Your card is another triumph! The colours are lovely. I stamp first and emboss after – it seems to work for me. Take care and here’s to the next year! xx
