I’m playing along at CASology today, where the Cue Card is Ribbon … and at Less is More where December’s Colour Challenge is to use a metallic element plus one other colour of choice. At the Curtain Call the theme is Christmas Countdown, so it’s a great fit with the others, and Simon Says Stamp Monday have a Flourish theme, so I’m submitting there too, with this card …
The flourish-y Christmas tree is from an embossing folder I got as a freebie sometime … it’s a bit of a nuisance to use as the spine is within millimetres of the top so it doesn’t lend itself to good positioning on a card. However, trimming it out did away with the problem! First, though, after embossing, I tapped over the tree with a versamark pad and heat embossed the raised image in gold. It was then swiped with Tuxedo Black Memento ink and wiped/buffed up to make the gold shine, before it was trimmed out. I gold embossed the sentiment (Uniko Studio), cut it into a tag, swiped that also in black, added a gold cord and tied it onto a black ribbon. Everything was assembled onto a white panel, with the tree and tag popped up on foam dots, and then the panel was adhered to a black bordered base card. Black and gold aren’t my usual colours for Christmas, but I quite like the drama of it all … and sometimes it’s good to experiment!
I’m off for a wander round to see what inspirational delights Mr Linky has to show me. Thanks so much for calling in … it’s always a joy to have you visit and to read your comments! Anita 🙂

The black and gold really does look dramatic and I love this x
Lovely card, very eye catching CAS design. The tree is very dramatic and I love the gold. Thanks so much for joining in the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge. Tracy x
The tree looks amazing, Anita, very elegant card! xx
Gorgeous….beautiful…stunning….elegant…impact of a 60kg weight to the head!
Your ‘Trimming’ ability rocks. Managing to ‘tap’ your way to a perfectly embossed image without getting the versamark in the depressed areas is incredible! Then to casually ‘swipe’ the black ink over and ‘buff’ away to bring out the sparkle…incredible! I honestly have NEVER seen this embossing folder heat embossed (likely because not a single person could pull it off without it looking like it was hit with an embossing bomb full of schrapnel)!
Splitting the panel at the bottom of your card – clever, creative and so effective to ground your image and leave the perfect spot for the wee tag to dangle, capturing its share of the limelight!
This card should sweep all the categories of above listed challenges. Awesome card dear friend. AWESOME!
Wow! This is very beautiful. The black and gold is just stunning. I have this eb folder but never get a good result. Cheers!
Love it xx Jan
I can only echo Geri, here. And possibly add “spectacular” to the list of adjectives used to describe your card. This totally blew me away, and while I just popped into to blogland for a quick perusal, this card made me stop because I HAD to comment. Trimming the folder was brilliant, and an idea I’m not sure I would have thought about doing! Hope your Sunday continues in this vein…wonderfully creative! Later, dudette!!
Oh wow! So elegant! Love the black/gold/white combination! Thanks so much for playing along with us at CASology this week!
This is absolutely wonderful, Anita! The gold and black is gorgeous, so rich looking! Super card!

Less is More
What an amazing Christmas tree! So perfectly embossed and cut out!
Stunning card Anita. The black and the gold work brilliantly. I am impressed how you thought it out to fit all the different challenges.
Hugs Florence x
I’m standing in ovation, applauding wildly, and adding “outstanding’ to the accolades while doing so! Black and gold; embossing and swiping, tagging and grounding – you’ve covered alllll bases with this elegant beauty. Joining Geri in calling this a wide-sweeping winner! Wow (and I was ‘happy’ with my little chalkboard dabble. Trying your technique…down the road. Way down!). Your comments have been adding heart-warming sparkle to my days!! THANK YOU, dear friend!! Hugs~c
This is so striking and beautiful. I love the gold and black–makes your card so elegant. Very cool arrangement, too–with that black strip along the bottom.

This is such a beautiful card for all of these challenges! What a genius idea to emboss the raised image of your embossing folder.
huh, that’s a great idea, Anita! I don’t think I’ve ever embossed the raised parts of a design. On such a detailed design too … well done!
Elegant and dramatic, Anita! And very well swiped, swooshed, trimmed and buffed!
