My Papercraft World

Muse #52 (Marion Vagg), The Card Concept #2 (Texture), Color Throwdown #277 (Baked Brown Sugar, Regal Rose, Soft Sky)

Continuing the theme of experimentation from this afternoon, tonight I have a card to share that seems to me to be a departure from my usual style.  Look …

See what I mean?   It came about because of the combination of challenges I’m playing along with.  At Muse, Marion has made a lovely dimensional floral card to inspire us (below), at The Card Concept (where I’ve tried out a Clean and Layered style), we’ve to include texture, and both of these fitted beautifully with Color Throwdown, where the soft and feminine shades are baked brown sugar, regal rose and soft sky.

ETA:  I’m also linking up at Winnie & Walter’s Join In To Win, where we’re sharing cards we’ve made with their fabulous first release!

The grid border is self adhesive plasterboard tape, coloured with a Promarker … the idea came from my sweet and awesomely talented friends Bev (at Happy Dance) and Geri (at Manitoba Stamper), who have both used it to brilliant effect.  As we have rolls of the stuff around, I thought I’d do something rather more artistic with it than jointing walls!  I stamped and white embossed the Technique Tuesday flower three times on vellum and coloured the reverse.  The flowers were trimmed out, rolled at the edges and layered together with a brad.  I cut out the frame, ran it through my Cuttlebug and attached a ‘nest’ of crochet cotton for the flower to sit on … the cotton seems to mimic the flowers’ soft edges.  The flowers were popped up on the nest, the frame was popped up on the card base, I stamped the Winnie and Walter sentiment and added a few sequins.   Rather more involved than usual!

I’m delighted to say a warm hello to a new friend and follower, Sharyn from My Crafty Place … when you go for a visit, you’ll find not just amazing cards, but wonderful quilts and yummy recipes … and a fabulous craft room!  Welcome, Sharyn, and thank you  🙂

I do hope you’ve all had a splendid weekend … in this part of the world it’s almost over, so I’ll bid you a very good night!  Thanks so much for coming by, your visits and comments are always a delight!  Anita 🙂
