Online Card Class CAS 3 (Faux Effects), Color Throwdown #283 (Basic Grey, Certainly Celery, Tangerine Tango), Winnie & Walter Join In To Win (March)

I’ve been wondering where I’ve been for a while … certainly not card making … until yesterday afternoon, that is, when I had a few hours away from ‘life’ to sit and play.  I made a few cards, this was the second (but I’m posting it first as I’m about to run out of time on one of the challenges) …

OCC CAS3 Day 1-2, CT 283, W&W JITW March

I’m taking the latest Online Card Class, Clean and Simple 3 (One Layer Cards).  Well, when I say taking, what I really mean to say is I enrolled.  So far I’ve managed to fit in viewing Day 1 videos (from last Monday) and Day 2’s extra inspiration … the theme was faux effects, with three different techniques showcased … this one is inset die cuts.  I used the colours from Color Throwdown (Grey, Celery, Tangerine) and as I used a couple of my fabulous Winnie & Walter words, I’m linking up at their Join In To Win party.

I’m the proud owner of just two sets of dies … one of them is snowflakes, so not really perfect for spring (although I can feel those of you still in the midst of the white stuff shaking your heads at that) … the second is Clearly Besotted’s Geometric Style.  So it was Hobson’s choice if I was going to try out this technique.  I did a sketch of the layout and starting from the right, die cut each rectangle.  The rectangles were coloured with Promarkers, overstamped with one of the companion stamps and fitted back into the spaces.  There’s a piece of light card on the inside, well covered with adhesive, to keep them in place.  We’re supposed to use an inset die cut word for the class, but as I don’t have one, I stamped/embossed the sentiment (having compensated by making a fairly complex pattern already!).

I’m off to get this linked before the door closes (in just minutes!).  Thanks so much for coming by, your visits and comments are always a joy!  Anita 🙂

I’d love to talk to you about this class because while all the homework I’m seeing is gorgeous, most of it is not what I call clean and simple. This one is an exception because of all the white space – I love the colours and the geometric arrangement of the blocks!

Hello there stranger! Nice to see you back in blog land….and with an awesome card in hand! A++++ for improvisation for this assignment! Isn’t that what a ‘challenge’ is really all about? Using what you have on hand to create one fabulous card after another! The lines look great stamped on the rectangles! Great job with the bold, eye catching sentiment!

Oh, this is stunning, Anita!! Your rectangles are perfectly placed (and it must have been quite a job to do that!!) and I love your stamped sentiment with the ‘you’ fitting neatly into the corner of the grey block. I can see that a lot of planning went into this design. Lovely!!

You finally did your homework!!!! So glad I’m not the only one struggling with the class. I did a xmas one at the end of last year and made (what seemed like) millions of cards but so far I have only posted one for this class. I love the geometric design and I don’t think it matters if you don’t have a word to die-cut, I think your embossed word looks just as good (and you know I’m jealous that you can emboss!!). I have managed today to make 2 more cards based on Day 3. I’m finding the classes hard because I don’t have many of the products. Am about to delve into Day 4, wish me luck and can’t wait to see your next card!!
