Addicted to CAS #37 Guest Designer (Grunge), Colour Me! #17 (Bermuda Bay, Coastal Cabana, Pacific Point, Tempting Turquoise), SSS Wednesday 23/4 (Keep It Clean & Simple)

This is my second fortnight guest designing with the awesome Addicted to CAS  DT … still excited, thrilled and honoured about it … and still a little squeaky!  Our host for this challenge is the amazing Kylie, there’s a prize sponsored by Bugaboo and the Code Word is Grunge …

ATCAS 37 GD, CMCC 17, SSSW 23-4

Those of you who are regular visitors will know that I’m a bit of a neat freak … and will understand that finding out the Code Word for this GD spot was Grunge struck just a smidge of fear into my happy-in-tidy-land heart!  Well, I guess that’s what challenges are for, GD spots or not, so the thinking cap went on … I chose some of my favourite colours (for comfort’s sake!), covered my desk with plenty of protection, and (as Shirley would put it) got sploshing and splatting!

I made a very watery puddle on a piece of watercolour card, ‘touched’ Distress Inks into it with a brush, allowing the colours to go where they wanted, and then used a heat gun to dry it.  The air from the heat gun blew the water about and dried the colours into this ‘interesting’ pattern.  Next, I loaded the brush up with a couple of different different blues and splatted the panel.  Once it was dry, the TAWS sentiment was stamped in Versamark and heat embossed in white … the words seem so appropriate for this card (!) … and it fits perfectly into the puddle!  The card panel warped quite a lot because of the water and heat, so I used plenty of glue runner to adhere it to the card base and left the finished card under a heavy book for a while to flatten it.  Voila … a neat freak’s verson of ‘Grunge’ … and so much fun to do … yes, liberating!

So, how will you interpret this Code Word?  There are so many possibilities … and even if you’ve never done grunge before, have a play … you never know what you’ll come up with till you do!  Check out the cards made by the talented DT cards for some fabulous inspiration!   Thanks so much to Kylie, Loll and all the DT for having me … and for such a wonderful warm welcome … it’s been an honour and so much fun!

My colours match with Colour Me‘s combo this week, so I’m joining in there, and I’m linking up with Simon Says Stamp Wednesday‘s Keep It Clean and Simple challenge.

I’ll be back a little later with something else, but in the meantime, thanks so much for coming by, your visits and comments are always a joy!  Anita 🙂

Beautiful card, Anita! I’ve only made grunge cards a couple of times, and I loved it. Love the colors and design! I’m a fan of the splats and splatters! Have a great weekend.

This is fabulous Anita. I had to laugh at the sentiment and it’s perfect in your “puddle”!!! lol Would never know that this particular challenge phased you as it’s turned out so well. Think I need that sentiment so just going to pop over to TAWS to have a look for it.

      Hugs.

Wow Anita, I would have been freaked out too. I don’t know if I can do grunge. lol But it is a challenge so I guess I would have to come up with something if I had been in your shoes. I love what you came up with!!! I can’t believe how perfect this turned out for you. It was like it was meant to be. The sentiment fitting perfectly in your ink splotch was just awesome. Loving that sentiment by the way. lol Love, love this beautifully splatted card! And a great take on the challenge. Congrats on being the guest designer too. Hugs

I am obviously going to have to add “Queen Splosher to your Queen Doodler title! Hmmm…so that would make you Queen Doodle Splosher…kind of has a nice ring to it, don’t you think?

Fabulous grunge look! I so admire your ‘dive right in’ approach that resulted in one amazing card! Great colors and PERFECT sentiment! You really are rocking this DT gig over at CAS!

If ‘gorgeous and glamorous’ apply to ‘grunge’, then your card is the epitome of that! WOW and WOW! I, too, would be quaking faced with such a theme as a GD (can you believe I didn’t know what it was until I scoped out the inspiration cards! Yeeshh!), however, you have showcased it fabulously! Colours, splots and sploshes, the perfect sentiment…it just doesn’t get any more grungy-awesome than this!! Coolness to the nth degree! Hugs~c

Hi Anita. Well, you took on the challenge big time!! Fabulous grunge card, my friend. I was also a bit intimidated with the code word, but once I started, it was so fun. Really, grunge to me was letting go of the neat and tidy (as you said it was for you) and having fun and making a mess in the process. Great card, beautiful colors, and I love the fun sentiment. Thanks so much for being our Guest Designer for April. Your cards are always creative and inspiring … we’re so happy you joined us!! Loll xx

This is one of my favorite cards ever! Way to step out of your comfort zone!!! Your cards for your guest designing spot have all been stellar…I think they should just take “guest” out of your title. 🙂
