Happy Birthday, Ardyth! Less Is More #173 (Die Cuts), Time Out #6 (Home Sweet Home), SSS Wednesday 28/5 (Anything Goes)

Today is the birthday of one of my lovely blogging buddies … everyone in blogland knows her, her stunning style, her wonderful contribution to our community through numerous design teams, her always encouraging, supportive and insightful comments … and on top of all that, she’s a thoroughly delightful soul!  So … please sing along where ever you are in the world, you never know how far many voices will travel … Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday dear Ardyth, Happy Birthday to you!   Hope you heard that, my friend … I sang it loud!  Wishing you a day full of happiness and a wonderful, creative and joy filled year ahead!

Happy Birthday Ardyth, LIM 173, Time Out 6

I’m sure my inspiration for this card came partly from seeing Ardyth’s wonderful cards at Maskerade … bright colours, graphic shapes, lots of white space!  It also came from Time Out, where there’s a fantastic ‘Home Sweet Home’ photo (below).   I focussed on the square shapes of the seats and for my colours, I picked out the seat to the left of the picture with the rug draped across it.  I’m also joining in at Less is More, where we’re using die cuts this week.

ETA  The team at Simon Says Stamp Wednesday are having an Anything Goes week, so I’m linking up there too!

Using a panel of card the same as the base, I die cut the letters from Mama Elephant, set them aside and sliced up the negative space … horizontally to split the word and vertically to separate the letters.  The negative pieces (bottom half) were coloured with Promarkers and were adhered to a piece of light card, trimmed to size.  I coloured the letters, coated them with Wink of Stella and slotted them into their negative spaces.  The rest of the sentiment was stamped and white embossed across all the colours and the resulting panel was popped up on foam tape on the card base.  Voila … my attempt at an Ardythesque card!

I may be back later with a little something else, depending on whether the idea translates well from brain to paper!  Thanks so much for coming by … your visits and lovely comments truly are a joy!  Anita 🙂

CASology #96 (Flower), Viva la Verve May Colours (Aqua, Grey, Yellow), Stamplorations May (Stamps and Flowers), SSS Monday 26/5 (Botanicals)

Over the last few weeks, I’ve filled both of our village recycling bins with card rejects … you know, the large ones on wheels … yep, to overflowing.  Challenges have been and gone … and I’ve heard nothing from Monsieur Mojo … not even so much as a postcard.  So I’ve taken a deep breath and made a card without him …

CASology 96, VLV May Colours, Stamplorations May, SSSM 26-5

I drew a black line down the base card, masked off the right hand side and stamped the ranunculus (from Stampendous) in grey.  The flowers were loosely watercoloured and had a touch of Wink of Stella added to the centres.  The sentiment was made with words from Clearly Besotted’s A Little Sentimental and the ‘beautiful’ is from Technique Tuesday … it too has been Wink of Stella’d.  A simple little one layer card with no assistance from Monsieur M … I’m feeling proud!  In case you’re wondering about aqua coloured ranunculus (which granted, are unusual), try a google search … they’re there!

These are the challenges I’m joining in with …

CASology – Flower

Viva la Verve – Aqua, Grey, Yellow (for the first time … sorry, no Verve stamps … yet!)

Stamplorations – Stamps and Flowers

Simon Says Stamp Monday – Botanicals

Off now for a gentle meander through the blogosphere for some non-MM inspiration.  Thanks so much for coming by, your visits and comments are always a joy!  Anita 🙂

Happy Birthday, Sandie! CAS-ual Fridays #131 (Three Thirds), Colour Q #241 (Chocolate, Gold, Pool, Turquoise), Stamplorations – May (Stamps and Flowers), Winnie & Walter Join In To Win – May

Today, we’re celebrating the birthday of a super talented, fun, generous and lovely friend … Happy Birthday, Sandie!  Here’s a card I made for you …

Happy Birthday Sandie, CFC 131, CQ 241, Stamplorations May, W&W JITW May

As many of you will already know, Sandie makes delicious CAS cards … and is also a veritable expert at mixing clean and simple so beautifully with grunge, to create truly eyecatching designs!  She’s on numerous design teams and always leaves the most encouraging, warm and supportive comments all around blogland.  If you haven’t already, call on over to Sandie’s blog, London Days … and get supplies ready before you go because you’ll be there a while!   Nonni at Korttikarkuri – Runaway Cards has organised a linky party at her blog to celebrate Sandie’s special day … and it’s going on for the next two weeks … so there’s plenty of time for you to come along and join in the fun!  Wishing you a very Happy Birthday, my friend … may your day be chock full of wonderful things … and your year ahead be one of joy and laughter 🙂

Now, you may have noticed it’s been a little quiet around here for a week or so … it’s because my get up and go just got up and went … and took Monsieur Mojo with it.  So I sought inspiration for Sandie’s card from a few challenges … CAS-ual Fridays, where we’ve to use three things on a third of our card, Colour Q‘s palette of chocolate, gold, pool and turquoise, and Stamplorations‘ theme of stamps and flowers.  Sandie, I know you love purple … but as my last card to you was a purple one, I thought you might like a change!

On a white card panel, I clustered the Waltzing Mouse two step flowers together to act as the background to the Winnie & Walter ‘happy’ … embossed in gold and trimmed out so it could be popped up on foam dots.  The ‘birthday’ is from Clearly Besotted, and is also embossed in gold.  I trimmed the panel, added strips of pool card top and bottom, and popped it up on foam dots on the card base.  Wink of Stella was liberally applied to the darker parts of the flowers and I added Glossy Accents to the centres to finish off.

Because of my absent get up and go, I’ve not been around in the blogosphere very much at all this last week, and am seriously late coming to see everyone.  My apologies … I’ll be calling round over the next couple of days to catch up with you all … and am looking forward to enjoying a meander around a ton of inspirational creativity!  In the meantime, thanks so much for coming by, your visits and comments are always a joy!  Anita 🙂

Less is More #170 (Three Colours/Shades), A Blog Named Hero #43 (Inspired By A Hero Artist), Keep It Simple #39 (Watercolour), Moxie Fab World (Hip on Handwriting)

After my last sunshiny card, I’m sticking with shades of yellow …

LIM 170, ABNH 43, KIS 39, MFW AprilI’m playing at Less is More where we have a colour challenge … use three colours or use three shades of one colour … I went with the latter.  At A Blog Named Hero, we’re being Inspired By A Hero Artist … I chose the awesome Jennifer McGuire and did a simplified version of these cards done with the HA Tiny Flags background stamp.   As I used water colouring, I’m joining in at Keep It Simple and because there’s a scripty part to the sentiment, I’m linking up again at Moxie Fab World’s Hip on Handwriting challenge.

I stamped and clear embossed the background onto a water colour card panel, squished some HA Butter Bar, Memento Dandelion and Squeezed Lemonade DI onto my craft mat, and did a colour wash over the flags, merging the shades from dark to light.  Whilst the panel was drying, the Papertrey sentiment was stamped (in two steps), overstamped in Versamark and clear embossed on the base card.  I split the water colour panel, popped it up on foam dots on the base above and below the sentiment, and added a scattering of sequins.

It’s about time to get dinner sorted … back later for an inspiring wander through all the galleries for these challenges!  Thanks so much for coming by, your visits and comments are always a joy!  Anita 🙂

Moxie Fab World

Muse #65 (Gillian Ross), Moxie Fab World (Hip On Handwriting), SSS Monday 28/4 (Not So Mellow Yellow), SSS Wednesday 30/4 (Anything Goes)

Yellow and white are so splendid together … fresh, sunny, happy-inducing colours …

Muse 65, MFW April, SSSM 28-4, SSSW 30-4My inspiration here came first from the super talented Gillian who is the GD at Muse this week … her deliciously CAS card is below.  I haven’t played along with Muse in a while and when I saw Gillian’s card, it called to me, temptingly, so here I am … with the same layout and a handwritten word taking centre stage.  This ‘lovely hello’ also gives me a chance to play along for the second time with Moxie Fab World’s Hip On Handwriting challenge and as my colour palette came from Simon Says Stamp Monday‘s Not So Mellow Yellow theme this week, I’m joining in there too.  My last link will be at Simon Says Stamp Wednesday, where there’s an Anything Goes week.

I coloured a white card panel with different shades of Promarker yellows, cut the Mama Elephant hello from another panel, adhered the two together and trimmed them so that the word would go off the edge at each side.  The ‘lovely’ was stamped in Memento Espresso Truffle, I dry embossed a border and popped the panel up on the card base on foam dots.  Blooms and leaves from WPlus9’s Fresh Cut Florals (yay, I finally got them!) were cut, stamped and arranged in the corner of the panel using foam dots of different heights to adhere them.  I added a smidge of Wink of Stella and a touch of Glossy Accents to the flower centres, and a cluster of bling finished it off.

Hope your weekend’s got off to a sunshiny start!  Thanks so much for coming by, your visits and comments are always a joy!  Anita 🙂
