Muse #82 (Bobby), Keep It Simple #47 (Ombré), Simply Create Too #69 (Show Us Something New), SSS Wednesday 27/8 (Anything Goes)

Goodness, it’s seems ages since I was here … well, I suppose it is really, certainly over a week!  So happy to have been able to stop off at my craft desk tonight … and spend just a little longer than fleeting moments playing with paper and ink.  I made a card and a half … sharing the whole one here (duh!) … and for the first time in a century or two, there’s almost no white on it (comfort zone warning lights going off) … Muse 82, KIS 47, SCT 69, SSSW 27-8            KISs

I was inspired by Bobby‘s stunning card at Muse, which has black ‘white space’ … see below and be prepared to be wowed!  Bobby stencilled that gorgeous pattern … isn’t it amazing?  Not being in possession of a suitable stencil and embossing paste, however, nor enough black card for a card base (what?), I struggled a little.  Tonight, I found this …

Swirly bobbly vellumyep, swirly, bobbly vellum … that did the trick.  I cut a panel and coloured the back with alcohol markers to create ombré swirls.  The front was brushed with Perfect Pearls to give the bobbles a little more pzazz and the panel was attached to a white card base.  I die cut the Studio Calico thanks, adhered it to the vellum and gave it a lick of Wink of Stella.  The two slim black strips (also WoS’d) and bling finished it off.  It’s not quite as CAS as I envisaged when I started (and certainly not as CAS as Bobby’s card) … it’s the lack of white ‘white space’ … which is something that ‘hardly hever appens’ (Eliza Doolittle, My Fair Lady) on my cards.

Nevertheless, I’m playing along with …

MuseBobby‘s card is below

Keep It Simple – Ombré

Simply Create Too – Something New (Studio Calico thanks die)

Simon Says Stamp Wednesday – Anything Goes

If I get the second half of the other card finished, I’ll be back tomorrow … for now I’m off for a quick meander around blogland before bed.  Thanks so much for coming by, your visits and comments are always a joy!  Anita 🙂

Happy Birthday, Nonni! Addicted to CAS #45 (Geometric), Make The Day Special – August (Colour Palettes), SSS Monday 18/8 (Anything Goes), Pretty Pink Posh Cutting Edge Blog Hop

Surprise Nonni … Happy Birthday!  There’s a party going on over at Sandie’s blog, London Days, to celebrate this sweet friend’s special day.  For those of you who don’t know Nonni, she’s on the Design Team with Inkspirational and with STAMPlorations, and is also the co-owner of Time Out.  In addition, she’s an energetic, enthusiastic and sweet commenter … and makes the most wonderful cards across the whole range of styles … multi-talented indeed!  If you get chance, do drop in for an inspiring meander around Nonni’s blog, Korttikarkuri – Runaway Cards, and also pop over to see what I know will be a fantastic Mr Linky gallery of cards over at Sandie’s London Days.  Wishing you a very special day, Nonni, full of fun and laughter … and a year ahead filled with all good things!  Your card is winging it’s way to you across land and sea … here’s a sneak peek …

Happy Birthday Nonni, ATCAS 45, MTDS August, SSSM 18-8My inspiration for the design came from this awesome rainbow card by the amazing Laura Bassen.  I stamped the Avery Elle leaf in ombré colours across a panel of watercolour card, and then added a light wash of matching colour over each.  The Studio Calico ‘happy’ was die cut in the ombré colours and white, and they were adhered together, marginally offset.  I stamped the WPlus9 ‘birthday’ and added lashings of Wink of Stella over the leaves and the stacked die cut.  The base card edges were sponged with black and the finished panel was adhered flat to it.   Like a close look at the stacked ombré colours?  They’re here … and you may just be able to see the merest hint of all the WoS shimmer …

Happy Birthday Nonni, ATCAS 45, MTDS August, SSSM 18-8 Close UpAs well as flying across the miles and partying along over at Sandie’s blog, Nonni’s card happens to be suitably dressed to play along with …

Addicted to CAS #45 (Geometric), Moxie Fab World Fabulous Friday 15/8 (Trendy Triangles), SSS Work It Wednesday #7 (Blue), SSS Monday 18/8 (Anything Goes)

Life’s been a bit full on recently, so there hasn’t been a great deal of opportunity to get near my craft table.  However, a ‘little-by-little-as-I’m-flying-by’ approach of using (literally!) a few minutes a day has resulted in this card … started on Sunday and finished tonight!

ATCAS 45, MFWFFC 15-8, SSSWIW 7, SSSM 18-8It really did lend itself to being done a bit at a time … these were my few-minutes-at-a-time flying visit steps …

  • I die cut two HA triangle backgrounds, allowed the triangles to tumble out of the first and kept the other one intact.
  • Did some colouring with Promarkers … the open die cut with cool grey, the full die cut with duck egg blue (the easiest way to get all those triangles coloured quickly), and some tumbled out triangles with four other colours (taken from MFW inspiration picture).
  • Trimmed the open die cut to size, adhered it to the card base and popped in all the coloured triangles … the random pattern evolved!
  • Added a darker grey strip to the top of the die cut, stamped the Avery Elle sentiment and added a touch of colour to the inverted v pointing to the ‘really’.

It’s quite masculine looking at the moment … it can be made more feminine with a flying visit touch of Wink of Stella, some Glossy Accents and sequins/bling, depending on who’s going to get it.  Voila … a marginal time card!

I’m playing along at …

Time Out – Designer to CASE, Stamplorations – August (Stamps and Die Cuts), The Mixed Media Card Challenge #2 (Summer), SSS Wednesday 13/8 (Summer), SSS Work It Wednesday #7 (Blue)

I’m full of excitement this morning … well, I’ve been full of excitement about this for a while now, since the lovely Sandie asked me if I’d like to be CASE Designer for the latest Time Out challenge, which starts today.  What an honour … you can imagine it took less than a nano second to say yes … and then just a little longer (!) to come up with my card …

Time Out CASE Designer, Stamplorations August, MMCC 2, SSSW 13-8. SSSWIW 7On a white watercolour panel, I stamped The Alley Way Stamps border twice in Versamark and embossed it in white.  I smooshed three different Distress Ink blues on my craft mat and watercoloured the pattern, blending the colours down the card.  The tiny green-ish middle diamonds were done last … using a little Squeezed Lemonade DI added to what was left of the blues on my mat.  I die cut the Mama Elephant hello’s to match the background colours and adhered them slightly offset against one another across the panel.  The panel was popped up on foam tape on the card base and a sprinkle of Annabelle Stamps bling finished it off.

Thanks so much to Sandie and Nonni for inviting me to contribute a CASE card, it’s been such fun!  Have a meander over to Time Out … you’ll find inspiration galore from the fabulous Design Team and from super talented Guest Designer, Shona.  I do hope you’ll have chance to play along … there’s loads of time as Mr Linky doesn’t close the door for almost a fortnight … and I’d love to see your take on my card!

It just so happens that I can pop along and play with …

Stamplorations – Stamps and Die Cuts (sorry, still no Stamplorations goodies!)

Mixed Media Card Challenge – Summer (my first time … no burlap option, but these colours so reminded me of tropical waters, gently lapping sandy shores!)

SSS Wednesday – Summer (keep thinking tropical shores!)

SSS Work It Wednesday – Blue (all those lovely DI colours!)

Looking forward to seeing you in the Time Out gallery!  Thanks so much for coming by, your visits and comments are always a joy!  Anita 🙂

Time Out #11 (Celebrations), Addicted to CAS #44 (Gold), Winnie & Walter – August (Join In To Win) Mama Elephant and Me – August (Watercolouring and Birthdays), SSS Wednesday 7/8 (Make It Sparkle)

I have a card to share tonight … but before that, I’d like to say a huge thank you for all your wonderfully supportive comments and emails following our lightning strike … reading them warmed my heart and had me smiling all over my face!  Things are getting back to normal, although as August is a holiday month in France, some things are taking a bit longer than they would otherwise!  We’re being patient!  So, back to my card, made on Sunday during my ‘breathing time’ …

TO 11, ATCAS 44, ME&Me August, W&W JITW August, SSSW 6-8

On a watercolour card panel, I stamped Winnie & Walter’s Big Bang Confetti stars in Versamark and white embossed them.  I did a Distress ink colour wash over the top of the stars and sponged over it all with a Perfect Pearl solution (the PP technique came from the awesome Jennifer McGuire … it gives an lovely soft shimmer).  The Mama Elephant sentiment (very recent NBUS) was embossed in gold, as were two strips of card which were adhered under each side of the panel, before the panel was mounted on the card base on foam tape.

The challenge stars (hahaha!) aligned beautifully for this card, I’m playing along with  …

Time Out – Celebrations (Despite my valiant efforts, it’s without the butterfly option)

Addicted to CAS – Gold (On occasion, it bothers me when making cards that I may be subconsciously influenced by something I’ve seen elsewhere.  Having just checked out the ATCAS blog again to do this post, I’ve found that’s happened here … GD Lyndal made a fabulous ombré blue watercolour card with stars and a Mama Elephant gold sentiment card … mine’s an inadvertent CASE … thanks Lyndal!)

Mama Elephant & Me – Watercolour and Birthdays (Colour wash and sentiment)

Winnie & Walter – Join In To Win (Delighted to be playing here, it’s been a while!)

SSS Wednesday – Make It Sparkle (Those yummy Perfect Pearls!)

Off for an inspiring meander around blogland!  Thanks so much for coming by, your visits and comments are always a joy!  Anita 🙂

CASology #107 (Stripe), Fusion #31/7 (The Beach House), Paper Smooches SPARKS #3/8 (Anything Goes), SSS Wednesday #6/8 (Make It Sparkle)

It’s been a bit quiet here on the old blog for a while … life’s been a bit over-full dealing with the after effects of a lightning strike on the house last Saturday.  Now, we have most services back … internet (obviously!), phone, power and hot water (blissful!) … and hope the rest (plus the replacement of our frazzled electrical goods) will be sorted quickly.  Keeping things in perspective, it is only ‘stuff’ … we’re blessed it wasn’t us that got frazzled!  Anyway, last night, after a few evenings of lovely visits round the blogosphere, I was (almost) not behind with visiting everyone, so I sat down in my craft corner, breathed a little, and made this …

CASology 107, Fusion 31-7, PSS 3-8. SSSW 6-8I die cut the Paper Smooches ‘thanks’, topped it with Stickles and added a coat of Glossy Accents (very sparkly!).  The Avery Elle brush strokes were stamped onto a white panel and the flowers and leaves (also AE) were stamped onto separate card.  I trimmed out the flowers and leaves, adhered them to the white panel on different height foam dots, and added tiny pearls to the flower centres.  The posy took a bit of arranging … which was fine because by the time I’d at last decided on a final look, the glittery thanks was dry, so I added that over the brush strokes and popped the finished white panel onto a card base with foam tape.

I’m joining in with …

CASology – Stripe (the brush strokes and have a close look at those blooms!)

Fusion – Beach House (colours from the table in the gorgeous inspiration photo … flowers, cupcakes, melons … and the shimmer from the light you can just see hanging above it.)

Paper Smooches SPARKS – Anything Goes (die cut thanks)

SSS Wednesday – Make It Sparkle (I did, with Stickles!)

ETA:  Oops, Mr Linky’s door had already closed at PSS … there’s always next time!

Hope your week’s been calmer than ours … hoping for a more peaceful one ahead!  Thanks so much for coming by, your visits and comments are always a joy!  Anita 🙂
