Time Out #14 (Home Sweet Home) – Design Team Debut!

I’m excited … today sees the start of a new challenge at Time Out … and the start of my own new challenge as a Design Team member … yep, definitely excited!  This fortnight, we have a Home Sweet Home theme, which means there’s a fabulous inspiration photo for you to wrap your creativity around … look …

There’s so much to play with here … the natural look of the linen cloth, wooden box and rustic twine … the chunky labels/tags … those wonderful messages … and all that lovely white!  I went for a pretty literal take on the inspiration …

Time Out 14 DTSome of you may remember I used wood from a mushroom basket on this card a little while ago … well, said wood leapt to mind as soon as I saw the inspiration photo (don’t you just love it when that happens!).  The Hero Arts sentiments were stamped directly onto a nicely grained piece of it, I cut them out with a guillotine (apart from the pp’s!) and outlined them using a black fine liner.  Once they’d gone through a little arranging, they were attached to a white card panel, I added some strands of twine tied with a knot and popped the whole thing up on a kraft card base.  No shimmer or bling … seems it’d be a good masculine encouragement card!

So, what do you think of when you see the inspiration photo?  Why not take some time to have some fun with it and play along … all the details are over at Time Out, along with a whole host of fabulous cards from the Design Team and our lovely Guest Designer this fortnight, Christine from Poppaeacards.  Look forward to seeing you in the gallery!

Thanks so much for coming by, your visits and comments are always a joy!  Anita 🙂

Fabulous DT debut card, Anita! I love your interpretation of the inspiration photo and your genius upcycling of the mushroom basket. Alas, we get our mushrooms in poxy plastic containers now :(.

Perfect as ever Anita! I love the phrases you have used and your card looks so crisp despite the ‘earthy’ origins! Congrats on your first DT post, can’t wait to see what else you come up with! Cx

You started off your new assignment with a bang, Anita. This is so fabulous. I never dreamed it was wood. Those sentiments are wonderful and I love that you outlined them. What HA set is it? I think I have to have it. 😉

I’d say that the gals over at Time Out made the perfect choice for their newest DT member! You’ve done a fabulous job debuting your talent Anita! And yes, the words and the design make this a perfect guy card! Your doodled borders…..swoon worthy, funky & so cool. Twine and linen paper – a perfect pairing! Well done dear friend!

What a great take on the inspiration photo! Also love that you recycled your mushroom container – I am a big fan of recycling and reusing! Unfortunately we don’t get ours in beautiful wooden baskets. You better look around for more recipes using lots of mushrooms! Would love to see more “wooden” cards…

It’s about time you were snatched up as a designer. Congratulations on your new gig. And, look at the beauty you created right out of the gate. Love this card–stamping on wood is just brilliant.

  15. Petra

Oh, I love that inspiration photo and what a lovely card you made!!! I love the little wooden signs on your card and enjoyed all the sentiments on them!! This is such a lovely take on the photo, Anita!!! Well done on your first DT card for TO!!!

    Have a super day!!

PS. I was thinking of you yesterday as I got a recipe for a French custard tart that I made for dessert last night – apparently it is very popular in France and is served at all the coffee shops!!! It is very similar to the South African milktart. We just love it!!!

  16. Nonni

What a super fun idea with the wood, Anita! I love your doodled frames -I actually thought they were part of the stamps. 🙂 Great look! We are thrilled to have you in our DT. xxx

Anita I am so excited to see that you are now designing for Time Out! You are going to be fabulous just like this very unique card! Oh how I love that you stamped on the wood! Gorgeous. When I see the inspiration I think–rustic, twine…wheels are turning! Congratulations my friend!

  19. Jill V

Congratulations on your debut on the DesignTeam – and what a beautiful card to start with! I love the organic feel of the card with the wood and twine – I had to link back to see the story of the mushroom basket – brilliant creativity!!! Thank you so much for sharing your inspiration and ideas!

  20. Chriss Blagrave

Love these words of encouragement Anita stamped onto your organic
” mushroom wood ” as the banners is such a beautiful neutral. I remember getting mushrooms in these boxes back in Canada, but here we receive in blue styrofoam or, as I buy loose, placed in a brown paper bag. I look forward to seeing more cards from you and hope to play along too!

Way to breathe new life into that mushroom basket, transforming them into little frames of encouraging words. Awesome take on the inspiration photo; and that, my friend,is why you’re on this DT…phenomenal creativity!!
