Addicted to CAS #50, SSS Wednesday 29/10 (Anything Goes)

Thank you so, so much for all your wonderful comments on our BABES Adventure … each one transported me back to Prior Lake … what a delight to relive it!  It seems the right moment to post one of the cards I made whilst away at the Lake House …

ATCAS 50, SSSW 29-10I’d had a couple of crafty orders shipped to Bev in the USA (to take advantage of lower shipping rates … thanks again, my friend!) … it was such fun to open up them up and discover what was inside!  I sponged over the Hero Arts Rain Dance stencil onto a white linen card panel, and wrapped the panel in a layer of delicate green vellum (courtesy of Bev who had an astonishing stash of gorgeous DP!).  The Memory Box/Poppy Stamps Lorelai Leaf was cut twice in white card and once in white vellum, and the branches were arranged and adhered over the edge of the card panel.  A white embossed Simon Says Stamp sentiment finished it off, and I popped the panel up on a white card base.  I have to say big thanks to all the BABES (Ardyth, Bev, Darnell, Geri, Kim) for their assistance in putting this outside-my-usual-style card together (especially in my jet lagged state)!

It’s heading to …

Addicted To CAS – Vellum (the lovely Marie is the host and I’m just about squeezing in through the rapidly closing door! )

SSS Wednesday – Anything Goes (a first entry … feel sure there’ll be more!)

I have such itchy fingers at the end of my hands … they need to be card making … otherwise there’s a danger they’ll become unruly!  P’raps a Sunday workout will be in order!  Thanks so much for coming by, your visits and comments are always a joy!  Anita:)

Six BABES Go On An Adventure

You got a first view of the BABES together here on Sunday… and today, as promised, here’s more.  We had an extraordinary adventure that took over a year in the planning … we travelled 32.558 km (20,350 miles) by air and by road to make it happen … and on Saturday 18 October 2014, the BABES converged on Minneapolis from various points on the globe … and met … in real life … in person … together …

BABES Bev 1BABES … huh?  Yep … this group of blog buddies … our self styled (with a little help from our resident word expert, Darnell) … Benevolent Association of Beloved and Esteemed Stampers!  We are (from the back left, round in a circle to the front left):  Kim (Cupcakes, Cards And Kim), Darnell (djkardkreations), Bev (Happy Dance), Ardyth (Maskerade), Geri (Manitoba Stamper), and little old me (fresh off the plane!).  It was as though we’d just stepped out of our blogs … to say we hit it off is an understatement of epic proportions … it was like being with old friends (in the sense of being friends for ages, rather than being with aged friends!).

We spent the whole exciting, laughter filled, glorious week together here …

and make goodness knows how many cards … as a group that is.  I managed a whole four … in between the child-in-a-toy-shop effect of having all those crafty goodies around (my stash is small!), popping out to a few bricks and mortar craft stores, eating and drinking a little, and the delights of simply chatting, learning and laughing (till we ached and the tears flowed!) with the other BABES, I was an even slower card maker than usual!  Oh, and there was a visit to the Mall of America for shopping ice cream …

and we made a new friend … Snowflake (as we named him or her), the albino squirrel …

and who very generously shared them with us while we were there!

All too soon, our truly unforgettable week was over … to paraphrase Audrey Hepburn in Roman Holiday, it’s one that I will treasure in memory always.  Meeting, laughing with and sharing time with these charming, delightful, sweet, caring, generous and downright wonderful people was simply a joy … my life is richer because of them.  Thanks BABES … from the bottom of my heart!

Do go and visit with all the other BABES (links are above) … there’ll be other stories and different photo’s to enjoy … you’ll get a different view from each of us!  Thanks so much for making it through this photo laden post … I so appreciated all your visits and comments, especially as I still haven’t reciprocated since I got back … will be with you soon!  Anita 🙂

Happy Birthday, Shirley! Stamplorations – October (Stamps & Embossing), SSS Monday 20/10 (Anything Goes)

We’re celebrating the birthday of stamp designing, super sloshing, splendid splattering, design team membering, card maker and artist extra-ordinaire, Shirley (of Shirley Bee) today … the party’s going on over at Maria’s blog (Riesling Mama) … and we’re all invited … for two weeks!  Wishing you a Happy, Happy Birthday, Shirley … here’s to a wonderful day and a year ahead filled with health, happiness and success!  I made you this …

Happy Birthday Shirley, SSSM 20-1, Stamplorations OctoberI had the joy of making Shirley‘s card in the company of some delightful and wonderful friends … and using one of their Papertrey Ink images.  I stamped the sentiment, heat embossed it in white and in Shirley‘s honour, got about as sloshy and loose with Distress Inks and a water brush as I ever get!  Once the panel was dry (and had been pressed in a heavy book for a while), the scattering of sequins and gems was added … and I was done!   Here’s a group photo … six friends, six cards, six glasses and one bottle of bubbly …

Group Photo - Happy Birthday, Shirley… and there’ll be more details to follow on Wednesday!  As well as Shirley‘s card winging it’s way to her at this very moment, it’s also on it’s way to …

SSS Monday – Anything Goes

Looking forward to meandering around blogland this week, being inspired and catching up with everyone.  In the meantime, though, thanks so much for coming by, your visits and comments are always a joy (especially so when I’ve not been around much to return the compliment!).  Anita 🙂

Time Out #17 (Birds of a Feather Flock Together), SSS Monday 20/10 (Anything Goes)

It’s time for another wonderful ‘Inspired By Words’ challenge at Time Out … this fortnight our phrase is ‘birds of a feather flock together’.  Here’s my take on it (which is already in the hands of the friend it was made for!) …

Time Out DT 17I inked up Waltzing Mouse Stamps‘ Funky Feathers twice, using two Versacolor inks each time, and them stamped them onto a white card panel, overlapping them at the bottom.  The ‘beads’ were stamped, Wink of Stella’d and coated with Glossy Accents.  The sentiment’s from Avery Elle, and is a one liner, masked so I could fit it on two lines next to the feathers.  I sponged the edges of the base card and attached the stamped panel flat to the base, allowing the edges to show on three sides.

There are so many ways you can go with this fun theme, so why not allow your imagination to run wild and get creative with us?  There’s plenty of inspiration for you over at Time Out, from our talented Design Team and from our Guest Designer, Jill V (My Life In Paper).  Look forward to seeing you in the gallery!

I’m also joining in with SSS Monday – Anything Goes

As you may know from my last post, I’m not around in blogland much at the moment.  I’d hoped to be able to make some visits, but have found that’s not been possible … I will, though, catch up with you before too long!  Thanks so much for coming by, your visits and comments are always a joy!  Anita 🙂

Time Out #16 Reminder (Designer to CASE), One Layer Simplicity #10 (Turning to Fall), Virginia’s View #8 (CAS), AAA Cards #24 (Autumn Colours), SSS Monday 13/10 (O Is For … )

We’re mid-way through the CASE With Your Own Twist challenge at Time Out and I’m popping in to remind you (just in case you haven’t played yet!) that there’s still plenty of time to join us.  Our CASE designer is the awesomely talented Heather Telford (yes, she of Penny Black DT fame!) … have another look at this gorgeous card she’s given us to play with …

I strayed a smidge further from the inspiration this week, in comparison with last, creating something a little more graphic and one layer as my twist … but still using the autumnal shades and sentiment that Heather had …

Time Out 16 DT Mid-Challenge, OLS 10, VV 8, AAA 24, SSSM 13-10I used a Waltzing Mouse Stamps leaf and acorn image to create a two coloured ombré grid pattern on the bottom two thirds of my card, doing a bit of ink blending on the diagonals.  A Papertrey Ink Background Basics stripe was added along the top edge and I stamped the Woodware thank you to finish.  Simple?  Hmmm … well, yes … if you don’t count practising the grid pattern on printer paper beforehand that is!

So, if you haven’t already, why not allow yourself to be inspired by Heather … and make a card with a special twist that makes it all your own.  We’ll be delighted to have you play along!  If you’d like some more inspiration, our Guest Designer, the wonderfully gifted Carol (Just Me:C), and the rest of the Design Team over at Time Out have plenty for you … just pop along!

I’m linking up with …

One Layer Simplicity – Turning To Fall

Virginia’s View – Clean and Simple

AAA Cards – Autumn Colours

SSS Monday – O Is For … (ombré in my case)

I’m not certain how much I’ll be around over the next week or so … there’ll be a scheduled post for the new and fun Inspired By Words Time Out challenge next week, and I may even get round for some happy and inspiring blog wandering in between times.  Other than that it’ll probably be a bit quiet around here … got a bit on for a while!  Thanks so much for coming by, your visits and comments are always a joy!  Anita 🙂

AAA Cards #23 (Watercolours), Virginia’s View #8 (CAS), Keep It Simple #50 (Three), SSS Wednesday 8/10 (Watercolour), Just Us Girls #262 (Ombré)

As with many of us, there are times when it’s not possible for me to get to my Feedly list (or respond to comments) every day … sometimes for a few days … and that happened this week.  Today, I spent some happy time visiting, viewing, enjoying, being inspired by and commenting on lots and lots of wonderful cards and blogposts.  There wasn’t much leeway left for creating … in fact none at all … so I thought I’d share with you a card I made (and loved!) a little while ago.  One of you has seen it … and has it … but it’ll be something new for everyone else …

AAA Cards 23, Virginia's View 8, KIS 50, SSSW 8-10

I smooshed some Memento inks onto my craft mat and used them to watercolour a panel of white card.  Once it was dry, the Clearly Besotted blooms and the Avery Elle sentiment were stamped over the top with Brilliance Starlight Black … giving just a touch of shimmer.  The panel was popped up on foam dots and adhered to the base card.

I’m playing along with …

AAA Cards – Watercolours (squeezing in just as the door closes)

Virginia’s View – CAS (my second entry)

Keep It Simple – Three (the blooms)

SSS Wednesday – Use Watercolours

ETA:  Just Us Girls – Ombré (my first time!)  Thanks to Sandie and Anita for the suggestion!

I have another couple of days of catch up blog browsing to enjoy from Feedly, and plenty of replying to comments to do too.  Thanks for bearing with me as I do … see you later … or perhaps tomorrow morning!  Thanks so much for coming by, your visits and comments are always a joy!  Anita 🙂

Time Out #16 (CASE With Your Own Twist), Less is More #192 (Autumn’s Bounty), Waltzing Mouse Fanatics #28 (Anything Goes), Stamplorations – October (Stamps & Embossing), SSS Monday 6/10 (Falling in Love With …)

It’s time for another fabulous challenge at Time Out … our theme this fortnight is CASE with your own twist.  Our designer to CASE is the amazing Heather Telford, who has given us this wonderful, glowing, autumnal, leafy scene as our inspiration …

and here’s my take on it …

Time Out 16 DT, LIM 192, WMF 28, Stamplorations October, SSS 6-10I love Heather‘s use of the the leaves and colour to create that fabulous warm glow, so focussed on those elements for my card, with an embossed twist.  On a white panel, I stamped and white heat embossed the leaves from Waltzing Mouse Stamps, and sponged over five colours of ink (the changing shades of autumn).  The Waltzing Mouse Stamps ‘Warmed by your friendship’ sentiment was stamped onto vellum and heat embossed.  I coloured the vellum on the back, cut it into a banner and wrapped it round one side of the panel.  The base card was masked and sponged with olive green, and the leaf panel was popped up on foam dots over it.

So, wouldn’t you just love to CASE Heather‘s card … and add your own twist?  To get those creative juices flowing, there’s a whole raft of gorgeous inspiration over at Time Out, from our amazingly talented and delightful Guest Designer, Carol (Just Me:C) and the fabulous Design Team … go for a visit and you’ll see what I mean!  I do hope you’ll find some time to have fun and play along … look forward to seeing you in the gallery!
