Papertrey 8th Birthday – Days 1-3, Runway Inspired #77, Seize The Birthday 12 Feb

I’ve been squeezing in a few ‘rushing-by-my-craft-desk’ evening marginal moments over the past week or so … very gradually putting together some cards for Papertrey’s 8th Birthday celebration (and other challenges that fit well).   Here are the ones that are ready for showing!  Day 1 … a colour and sketch recipe from a choice of eight of each …

PTI 8th Birthday Day 1, RIC 77  PTI8-color-inspiration-4         PTI8-sketch-inspiration-7

I stamped a card panel in four of the colours with PTI Ombré Builders and white heat embossed the sentiment from Filled With Joy.  The Tilth Flower is from Memory Box, cut at the Lake House … a number of the BABES have it, so don’t know whose I borrowed!  It was heat embossed in white before the petals were adhered flat to the card panel and the outline was fixed just in the middle so I could lift the edges to add some dimension.  I added a gem to the middle in the lightest yellow and popped the panel up on foam tape on the card base.

As well as linking this up to Day 1 at PTI, I’m also joining in with the Runway Inspired Challenge, where this amazing lined and floral confection is our inspiration.

Day 2’s challenge at Papertrey is to make a card inspired by Maile Belles.  I’m always blown away by Maile’s work … and love how she uses sentiments as a design element, slicing and splitting them to perfection!  Here’s my take, followed by a few of Maile’s beauties …

PTI 8th Birthday Day 2, STB 12-2

I stamped the banner from PTI‘s Sketched Shapes in blue hues across a white card panel, silver embossed the happy over the top and sliced through it.  I added a black strip to the card base and popped the split panel up on foam tape over it.  The PTI Birthday die (again from the Lake House stash … thanks, BABES) was double silver embossed to give it a metallic look and was adhered in place over the split.  I added some black bling to finish off.  Looking at it now, it would’ve been better to have had the ‘happy’ either above or below the line … or have a very small one inside the slice (as Maile did) … oh well, isn’t hindsight a wonderful thing?   Rather like the masculine feel, though … hmmm?

As well as playing at PTI Day 2, I’m linking this card up at Seize The Birthday …  without the hearts/arrows optional topping.

Onto Day 3 at PTI, which is a matching gift bag and tag challenge … here’s my spring green and fresh white dinky (8cm x 5cm) little offering …

PTI 8th Birthday Day 3I don’t have a gift bag die (yet!) … so made this the old fashioned way … with a ruler, pencil and craft knife.  Once it was cut out, I white heat embossed the bottom edge of the front using PTI Ombré Builders, added a reinforcer to the top and adhered it together.  The tag (more Lake House stash, a Lawn Fawn one from Bev I think) was also stamped with Ombré Builders (look, it matches!) and I used a sentiment from PTI Sketched Shapes, masked off so I could do the two colour happies and the shadow stamped birthday.  The reinforcer isn’t a reinforcer … it’s a dot stamped over the hole!  A smidge of twine attaches the tag to the bag and ties the bag shut to keep the little goodies inside it out of sight of curious eyes!

8th-Anniversary-LogoIf you’ve made it this far … thank you … I know it was a bit of a marathon!  The time-eating monster that’s been in residence here is beginning to loosen his grip (at last!) … and that means I’ve been able to spend some nights catching up with and commenting on your fabulous creations … there’s still a little more gorgeousness to see!  Can’t say I’m quite there with emails yet, although I am trying (some would say very trying … ahem!) … and will be with you as soon as I can!  Thanks so much for coming by, your visits and comments are always a joy!  Anita 🙂

Lots of luscious goodies here Anita! Love your recipe PTI and take on the Runway confection! It is a BEAUTY. Your Maile card is gorgeous…I love that one word is split and the other layered on top of the separation, all in that beautiful silver. Because it is blue ombré, it could fit for the blues challenge too? Your details are flawless and I wonder if you have created a new technique? I am going to name this the Anita…I will come up with something better than the word technique. The little hand crafted bag and matching tag is darling. You, my dear, have patience!
    Hugs, Chriss

So glad you are finding time to craft. Love your projects from today. Think my fave is the one with the split sentiment–love how your stamped word is split but your die cut is not. But, really they are all wonderful.

I applaud you for getting the PTI challenges done, Anita. I made one, couldn’t find the site to post, had a roadblock on the rest and gave up. Do you see that your first card is the reverse of the 8 yrs logo? An accident? or subliminal maybe? They all look marvelous.

All of your projects are amazing! Absolutely love your take on the ric challenge – stunning! The sliced birthday card is fabulous (I’m also a big fan of Maile) and the gift bag/tag so creative! Hard to believe you didn’t have a die as it looks just perfect!

Well, I love all your cards, I am commenting on the split word card (Mailed inspired) because it is for Seize the Birthday ( thank you for joining us!). I think it is great, love the word split, I have been having great fun with her style myself.

Every project is a charmer, Anita. I keep going back to the first one with your fabulous color choices for the ombre builder – another one for the wish list! You were so stealth with the split on the second, I almost missed it… gorgeous silver-embossed die cut birthday, too… hmmm wonder what tiny little morsel of decadence will be enclosed in that darling gift bag?

Dang, girl! Creativity abounding in fits and starts, and some fantabulous creations result!! Seriously stunning cards, LOVE the double embossed “birthday,” and the bag… and well, everything I’ve seen here. You’ve brought back sweet Lake House memories too. *sigh* Hate to tell you, I didn’t win the lottery this time, again, so no Caribbean island crafting house either… So glad for this instant way to communicate, though. I can tell you now, and in just a sec, you’ll see how much I love your work. It’s true. I do! Happy Valentine’s Day dear friend. Bisous, bisous. xoxo : )

I’m so glad that the time-eating monster has loosened his grip and you were able to find time to play and share with us. Love the layered tilth flower and the beautifully stamped background! The split panel on the HB card, the cool colors and the embossed sentiments create THE perfect guy HB card. Last but not least, the cute ‘tag bag’ with the soft pretty colors, great ‘shadowed’ HB sentiment and a nicely lined up pattern adorning the bottom edge is gorgeous! Gold star for the ‘home made’ gift bag!

So much gorgeousness in one post – but your first card wins. I am with you with Maile Belles – she is simply fabulous and your card does her justice! Go kill that time eating monster – and while you’re at it – kill mine too!

WOW, what a stunning daisy you’ve got there on the first card, Anita!!! …and the stamping of the stripes and the heat-embossed sentiment is perfect!!!! I love your used of the colours from the inspiration photo!!! Beautiful card!!!
Love the great masculine card with the neatly stamped banners and the lovely metal sentiment!!! …and I think the happy looks very happy right there where is is!!! …and I love the black dots!!! Lovely!!!
Your little gift bag with the tag is so cute and boy, you even lined up the little triangles, Anita!!! Being a perfectionist myself, I would have tried to do that too, but don’t know if mine would have been as perfectly lined up as yours!!!!
    Great projects, Anita!!
