Back with my final two cards for Papertrey’s 8th Birthday … just squeezing in as the doors start to close! Day 7‘s challenge is to use only metallics and neutrals …
Was a little mojo’d out by the time I got here (made this one last!) … so went back to find some inspiration in last year’s cards … and did a remake of this one, which in turn was a CASE of this one from Susan at Simplicity … I’d almost forgotten how much I love PTI‘s Dot Spot! I stamped the largest and smallest dot circles in Versamark, and starting from the outer edge and working inwards I sprinkled gold, platinum and silver embossing powder over them, to create a kind of ombré metallic look. Starting from the outside and working in meant I could tip the excess off without covering getting EP where I didn’t want it … ask me how I know! The sentiment is made up of two PTI Global Greetings stamps (to get the same crisp font on both words), stamped in black Versafine and clear embossed. Three gems finished it off.
In addition to PTI’s Day 7, this card is also heading to CAS(E) This Sketch … I landscaped it!
The last birthday challenge at PTI is for Day 8 and is to use blue ombré …
I used Distress Inks to create an ombré wash on watercolour card and once it was dry, die cut it and some white watercolour card with PTI‘s Modern Cross Quilt Cover Plate and adhered the crosses into their respective places on the card base (there’s an ombré positive piece left to use on another card). A standard base here is 10.5 x 15 cm (4 1/8 x 5 7/8 inches), a little longer than the Cover Plate … so I had some space to play with. Rather than cutting the extra off, I did a Maile and sliced the white positive piece in two, leaving a gap for the sentiment. I stamped the ‘sending’, popped the white up on foam tape over the crosses, die cut, sponged and clear embossed the ‘hugs’ and adhered it into place over the gap. Done!
As well as at PTI Day 8, I’m also playing along at …
CAS-ual Fridays – Must Love Watercolour
Little Tangles – Watercolour
That’s my card making done for a while now (apart from my DT cards) … I’m looking forward to spending some time catching up with what everyone else has been doing … there’s a lot to be inspired by … I’ve seen my Feedly list! Thanks so much for coming by, your visits and comments are always a joy! Anita 🙂

Hugs, Barb
Just so beautiful…love them both. But your second card is so amazing. I have been working hard blending using the distress inks and your is just stunning. Which colors did you use? LOVE the look you created!
Wow Anita, these are stunners for sure! love the circle dots in the gold and silver! So pretty and your take on the sketch is spot on! The blue ombre card is just as stunning, love the ombre look and love that design die cut!! So beautiful, so fun and so perfect!! Hugs, Brenda

Both these are awesome! You are just to talented! xxx
Oops! I meant ‘just so talented’! xxx
Fabulous Anita – the first one reminds me of a great big jewel – the embossing is so pretty and the second is just stunning. You really have perfected that ombre look!
Wonderful – both of them! Each in its own way!
Two more dazzling delights! Adore all the white space on the first card! Nothing competing with your perfectly embossed metallic image! Love how the sentiment starts within the circle!
You definitely channeled Maile on the second card. A-MAZING ink blending! The transition from one color to the next is seamless! Wowzers girl, you’re gonna need a rest after this round of creating 🙂
You’ve finished the PTI celebration with a resounding round of applause from me, Anita! Two more extraordinary cards filled with inspiration!! Hugs, Darnell
I think we all got a little more crafty last week. Both are beautiful Anita! I love your split card very trendy right now, and the background is gorgeous! Hope you are enjoying a great weekend. Loving the dot circle too:)
Beautiful round and great also for a male- colours! Those rectangles on your watercolour BG are super! Hugs, Gerrina
Your metallic series of dots is so stunning, Anita. As for the coverplate, it took me a while to figure out why you would cut the crosses from the ombre’ and glue them in when you could have just put the white positive over the colored sheet. Then I noticed the split. How clever of you. A lot of extra work but well worth it. Congrats for doing all 8 of the PTI challenges.
Both beautiful cards, Anita!!! I love all the metal embossing on the first and the lovely stamp you have used!!! The ombre effect on the second is beautiful and I love the great cover plate!!! The sentiment looks lovely!!!
Have a lovely day!!!
Beautiful cards!
Two gorgeous cards, Anita! I love how you played with your metallic EP’s on the first one, and your ombre effect is just beautiful on the second one! Great job on the challenge!
I’m late to another party here, dear friend. No excuse offered. But wowzers, girlfriend! You really make me fall in love with your cards. Simply adore the first card. Your embossing technique is fantastic! Might have to try that one of these days…Love your ombre overlay with it’s little Maile twist. Your blues are magnificent. Always a pleasure to visit here, just wish we could in person again….Bisous, bisous. xoxo
Rocking the metallic again, you are. But here it’s the blue BG shining through the white overlay that wins my vote. And I am so jealous cuz you appear to have snagged a Hugs die. Twice I’ve tried to order and they are out of stock!
Popping over again to wish you a very Happy Birthday!!! Enjoy your day! xx
Just had to halt everything to come over and say “HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!” I hope your day is filled with love, warmth, and all sorts of happiness! And whilst I am here, I would also like to tell you how much I admire these two cards. I am in LOVE with that second one with its big punch of blue awesomeness! I thought I’d hit the follow button over thisaway, but it seems like I haven’t. I shall remedy that immediately.
Heard it was your birthday!!! Wishing you a wonderful day with all your favorite things:)

You certainly were busy with all of these PTI entries and all of them were spectacular!! I’ve never thought of mixing different embossing powders, what a wonderful effect it makes. Must try this out!! And your blue ombre looks so good with that fabulous die-cut, its just perfection. I’ve loved seeing all your entries but I bet your glad its all finished for now!
Anita, Thanks for the 2 challenge shout-outs. 2 stunning cards Anita! I love the stylish simplicity of the first card and the cool ombre look of your second card!
So sorry that I am so far behind on your blog. Just getting to these two beauties. Love them both. Have not seen dot spot out for a while, and your card reminds me of why it is one of my favorite sets. Love how you used it here. And, your blue ombre card is just stunning. I absolutely love the way you cute it to provide space for a sentiment.
I think you should be joining the PTI team with these stunning, show-stopping knock-out cards you’ve created! The duo here: outstanding and both labours of love! The embossing on the first, the ombre on the second…WOW! Yes,lame word choices, but you know what I mean: I’m in absolutely amazement at how each card you make is perfect: in its creation and in the response of awe evoked!
