Papertrey 8th Birthday Days 7-8, CAS-ual Fridays #136, Little Tangles #53, CAS(E) This Sketch #110

Back with my final two cards for Papertrey’s 8th Birthday … just squeezing in as the doors start to close!  Day 7‘s challenge is to use only metallics and neutrals …

PTI 8th Birthday Day 7, CTS 110Was a little mojo’d out by the time I got here (made this one last!) … so went back to find some inspiration in last year’s cards … and did a remake of this one, which in turn was a CASE of this one from Susan at Simplicity … I’d almost forgotten how much I love PTI‘s Dot Spot!   I stamped the largest and smallest dot circles in Versamark, and starting from the outer edge and working inwards I sprinkled gold, platinum and silver embossing powder over them, to create a kind of ombré metallic look.  Starting from the outside and working in meant I could tip the excess off without covering getting EP where I didn’t want it … ask me how I know!  The sentiment is made up of two PTI Global Greetings stamps (to get the same crisp font on both words), stamped in black Versafine and clear embossed.  Three gems finished it off.

In addition to PTI’s Day 7, this card is also heading to CAS(E) This Sketch … I landscaped it!

The last birthday challenge at PTI is for Day 8 and is to use blue ombré …

PTI 8th Birthday Day 8, CFC 136, LT 53I used Distress Inks to create an ombré wash on watercolour card and once it was dry, die cut it and some white watercolour card with PTI‘s Modern Cross Quilt Cover Plate and adhered the crosses into their respective places on the card base (there’s an ombré positive piece left to use on another card).  A standard base here is 10.5 x 15 cm (4 1/8 x 5 7/8 inches), a little longer than the Cover Plate … so I had some space to play with.  Rather than cutting the extra off, I did a Maile and sliced the white positive piece in two, leaving a gap for the sentiment.  I stamped the ‘sending’, popped the white up on foam tape over the crosses, die cut, sponged and clear embossed the ‘hugs’ and adhered it into place over the gap.  Done!

As well as at PTI Day 8, I’m also playing along at …

That’s my card making done for a while now (apart from my DT cards) … I’m looking forward to spending some time catching up with what everyone else has been doing … there’s a lot to be inspired by … I’ve seen my Feedly list!  Thanks so much for coming by, your visits and comments are always a joy!  Anita 🙂

Goodness gracious Anita the cards are spectacular. The cards may appear CAS but they are truly labor intensive and all of your card making friends marvel at your gift of creativity.

Two more dazzling delights! Adore all the white space on the first card! Nothing competing with your perfectly embossed metallic image! Love how the sentiment starts within the circle!

You definitely channeled Maile on the second card. A-MAZING ink blending! The transition from one color to the next is seamless! Wowzers girl, you’re gonna need a rest after this round of creating 🙂

Your metallic series of dots is so stunning, Anita. As for the coverplate, it took me a while to figure out why you would cut the crosses from the ombre’ and glue them in when you could have just put the white positive over the colored sheet. Then I noticed the split. How clever of you. A lot of extra work but well worth it. Congrats for doing all 8 of the PTI challenges.

I’m late to another party here, dear friend. No excuse offered. But wowzers, girlfriend! You really make me fall in love with your cards. Simply adore the first card. Your embossing technique is fantastic! Might have to try that one of these days…Love your ombre overlay with it’s little Maile twist. Your blues are magnificent. Always a pleasure to visit here, just wish we could in person again….Bisous, bisous. xoxo

Rocking the metallic again, you are. But here it’s the blue BG shining through the white overlay that wins my vote. And I am so jealous cuz you appear to have snagged a Hugs die. Twice I’ve tried to order and they are out of stock!

Just had to halt everything to come over and say “HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!” I hope your day is filled with love, warmth, and all sorts of happiness! And whilst I am here, I would also like to tell you how much I admire these two cards. I am in LOVE with that second one with its big punch of blue awesomeness! I thought I’d hit the follow button over thisaway, but it seems like I haven’t. I shall remedy that immediately.

Anita, Thanks for the 2 challenge shout-outs. Got the card linked at both of them…I do indeed remember blowing dandelion fluff as a kid, and your pretty spring card reminds me that soon things will be blooming and the cold & snow will be just a memory. So glad that you had a lovely birthday, and very glad I saw 2 blogs that let me know to pay you a visit! Hugs & TFS

So sorry that I am so far behind on your blog. Just getting to these two beauties. Love them both. Have not seen dot spot out for a while, and your card reminds me of why it is one of my favorite sets. Love how you used it here. And, your blue ombre card is just stunning. I absolutely love the way you cute it to provide space for a sentiment.

I think you should be joining the PTI team with these stunning, show-stopping knock-out cards you’ve created! The duo here: outstanding and both labours of love! The embossing on the first, the ombre on the second…WOW! Yes,lame word choices, but you know what I mean: I’m in absolutely amazement at how each card you make is perfect: in its creation and in the response of awe evoked!
    Hugs~c
