Happy Birthday, Maria! Colour Throwdown #334, Seize The Birthday 12/3, Winnie & Walter JITW – March

Original, innovative, surprising, creative, published and all round talented … that’s Maria F over at Reisling Mama, who is celebrating her birthday today!  Wishing you a Very Happy Birthday, my friend, hope it’s a special day, full of yummy goodies and and chock a block with wonderful memories!  I made you a card … which is flittering over to you there from me here …

Happy Birthday Maria, CT 334, STB 12-3, W&W JITW - March One of the reasons I admire Maria‘s awesome work is because she always embraces with enthusiasm new ideas and techniques (go over and visit if you haven’t already … you’ll be inspired!).  With that in mind, I had another go at (eek!) unstructured smooshing and scattery splattering … in a structured sort of a way!

The side panel was made up of smooshed Marmalade and Worn Lipstick Distress Inks  … that piece was the second ‘dip’  The ‘happy’ (Winnie & Walter) was cut from the first ‘dip’ where the smooshed colour was much stronger and more vibrant … and it became more so when it was liberally coated with Wink Of Stella!   I adhered the side panel, stacked the ‘happy’ two and a half times (it was already partly stacked once on the panel!) and stamped the ‘birthday’ in navy (Annabelle Stamps – sadly no longer operating).  A few sequins with gem toppings finished off.

Maria‘s card is joining in the fun at …

Colour Throwdown – Orange, Pink, Navy

Seize The Birthday – Optional Twist – Make The Sentiment The Focal Point

Winnie & Walter – Join In To Win – March

Hope you had a splendid weekend … and had chance to get some crafting time!  I spent some time meandering through blogland catching up with and being inspired by what everyone’s been creating recently.  I haven’t finished yet but hope to be all up to date with your goings on during the coming week!  Thanks so much for coming by, your visits and comments are always a joy!  Anita 🙂

A smooshed and splaattered work of art, Anita, that I know Maria will absolutely love, as do I! I’ve tried smooshing, with zero success, so seeing your results here adds another layer of ‘impressed’ to my response. Gorgeous!

What a lovely birthday card! Love the smooshing with those two colours and the Happy die cut truly conveys happy. The teeny birthday sentiment is tucked in at THE perfect spot and the sequins with the rhinestones celebrate a whole other level! Love your little details 🙂

You excel at every technique you try, Anita! You have made THE most gorgeous smooshie and splattery work of art! Maria doesn’t have anything on you and your abilities! You are both my card heroes! This card is a masterpiece!!

On a sadder note, I am very sorry to hear of your country’s tragic plane crash and my thoughts and prayers are with the families. Love and hugs, Darnell

I didn’t ‘know there was such a thing as “controlled” smooshing, Anita. I do it with wild abandon, but not sure I get as good a result as you did on this card. Love the color combo, too.

“Unstructured”is oh so good and Wink of Stella is oh so sparkly. How do I know? This beaut arrived on my doorstep today! My absolute favorite touch is the gems in the sequin centers. How cool. Thanks so much for remembering my bday, Anita.

Well I’m late to this party! No excuses. I see that Maria loved your card. And it’s easy to see why. Too gorgeous, and you’ve made it with her in mind. Well done my friend. Your smooshing and splattering worked to a beautiful effect. Love it too. Hope you try this again! Miss you and bisous, bisous. xoxo
