Uniko #22 Guest Designer – Mid Challenge Reminder

I’m delighted to be back for another week as Guest Designer over at Uniko … thanks so much to Bev, Sandie and the DT for the wonderful welcome … it’s an honour to work with you all!  Our challenge at the moment is ‘Anything Goes with the option of Masculine’ … and this time I went without the option …

Uniko 22R GD

… and went rather sweet and feminine!  I masked off the top third of the card and had fun stamping all those lovely little flowers and leaves (from Uniko’s Background Builder – Vines) … starting with the larger images first and filling in the rest as I went along.  The black strip was added to ground the stamping, I doodled in a faux dotted line with a white gel pen and added Stickles to the flower centres.  The sentiment is from Uniko’s Pure Florals – Gerbera, stamped in Versamark.

Have you played along with us already?  Would you like to … or maybe come back for second helpings (in Michele-ese!)?  The use of Uniko goodies is optional … but it would be lovely to see them … and there’s an incentive too!  There’s still plenty of time till Mr Linky closes the doors at 0800 BST on Friday 3 July (08.00 BST), so if you’re feeling creative, we’d love to have you join in!  There are generous prizes on offer … including the new Uniko Loyalty Reward Points!  All the details and tons of inspiration from the DT and my fellow GD, Melissa are over at the Uniko blog … look forward to seeing you in the gallery!

Thanks so much for coming by, your visits and comments are always a joy!  Anita 🙂

My Favorite Things Summer School #2, #3, #4, #5, Wow! – June, SSS Wednesday 24/6

Marginal moment crafting can be very satisfying … particularly when life is crazy and there’s not a lot of real creative time available!  That’s what I’ve been doing of late … and tonight I have four cards to share … all made over a few days in those small moments of time between a whole heap of other rush rush, busy busy, must get done things!   Here’s where I started …

MFT SS 2, WOW June, SSSW 24-6… with a pretty little MFT speech bubble (cut at the Lake House) and some randomly stamped and white heat embossed Neat & Tangled blooms.  I did some watercolouring with Distress Inks, added some Wink of Stella (of course!), doodled in those trio clusters of little dots with a white gel pen and layered the whole thing onto a slip of matching-the-background vellum.  I heat embossed the Neat & Tangled sentiment, popped the speech bubble up on foam tape on the card base, and added a scattering of tiny seed beads, coloured with Promarkers to match the flowers.  This card is destined for …

My Favorite Things Summer School – Focal Point – instead of the speech bubble holding the sentiment, I used it as my focal point … if pretty mail could talk, this is what it would say!

Wow! – Summer – what says it better than a drift of sweet summer blooms!

SSS Wednesday – Anything Goes – my second entry

Next up, a kaleidoscope of butterflies …

MFT SS 3, SSSW 24-6 Here, I popped up MFT pierced rectangles (Lake House stash again!) onto the card base, to act as stepping points for those well drilled and choreographed fluttery vellum butterflies (PTI, thanks to my sweet friend, Chriss).  They were adhered just in the middle so that the wings could be folded upward to add to the sense of movement, and were dressed with a single gem each.  The placement of the Clearly Besotted sentiment running up the side of the popped up rectangles draws the eye along that sweet papillon swoosh!  They’re flying off to …

My Favorite Things Summer School – Movement/Flow – the stepping points going up the card, the swoosh of butterflies, their fluttery wings, the verticle sentiment.

SSS Wednesday – Anything Goes – my third entry.

A rather soft and subtle little number is next …

MFT SS 4, SSSW 24-6I cut an MFT Stax circle into a white card panel, sliced up some striped DP and adhered it down the two thirds line.  The leaf sprigs are from Poppy Stamps … I cut a couple of them, coloured one grey with a Promarker and arranged them in the circle, adhering the stems on the back and the leaves round the edge.  A larger MFT Stax circle was cut in black and adhered to the card base, and I popped the panel up on foam dots over it.  You’ll notice there’s no sentiment … the one I was going to use was a smidge too big for the space when I came to stamp it … hadn’t taken account of the leaves round the edge of the circle!  So rather than make do, I’ll add a sentiment to the inside … a ‘just because’, ‘thinking of you’ or ‘sending prayers’, I think.  Linking this card up to …

My Favorite Things Summer School – Line – my DP, drawing the eye to the focal point.

SSS Wednesday – Anything Goes – my fourth entry.

My final card, in contrast, is bold and graphic …

MFT SS 5, SSSW 25-6I sponged and blended Peacock Feathers, Salty Ocean and Chipped Sapphire Distress Inks onto an MFT on-the-line sentiment panel (once more, a Lake House find!), and popped the panel up onto the card base, positioned so that a narrow white strip was visible along the bottom.  To create the look of celebratory ‘champagne bubbles’, I mixed up some perfect pearls and splattered them gingerly (it’s splatter after all!) over the card.  The splatter looks a little grey in the photo … IRL it’s pearly and shiny and shimmery!  I’m playing along with …

My Favorite Things Summer School – Quiet Space/White Space – the bold sentiment panel pops against all that glorious white!

SSS Wednesday – Anything Goes – my final entry.

I’d like to thank my fellow Babes (Ardyth, Bev, Darnell, Geri, Kim), whose stashes I shamelessly raided at the Lake House, as well as my friend Chriss who sent me those wonderful butterflies … without all of whom, these marginal moment cards could never have been made!  Thanks so much, ladies!  Thanks so much to you too for coming by, your visits and comments are always a joy!  Anita 🙂

Time Out DT #34, My Favorite Things Summer School #1, SSS Wednesday 24/6, WOW! – June

It’s time for another Home Sweet Home challenge at Time Out … this fortnight we have an amazing picture to inspire you … it’s a little further down … here’s my take on it …

Time Out DT 34Time OutHere’s the inspiration photo …

I’m guessing you can see what was in my line of sight this week … those chevron patterns in vibrant colours in the foreground … and all that white wall space!   I sponged some chevron die cuts (My Favorite Things … from the Lake House stash … thanks, BABES!) with Distress Inks and adhered them to a piece of printer paper to make a panel.  The WPlus9 ‘Hello’ was double heat embossed in clear to give it some shine (there’s polish on that floor!), it was fixed flat to the chevron panel and I stamped and embossed the remainder of the sentiment underneath (also WPlus9), before popping the finished panel up on foam tape on the card base.  Voila!

Where will this photo take your creative mind …the riot of colour, maybe the graphic shapes, p’raps all that white space?  Why not let your ideas blossom and play along with us?   There’s inspiration galore over at Time Out, from our wonderful DT and from our talented Guest Designer, Sue from Foleys Friend.  As usual, our overall winner (as chosen by the DT) will be invited to be a Guest Designer for a future challenge … it could be you!  I do hope you’ll find time to have some fun with this picture … we’d love to have you join us … look forward to seeing you in the gallery!

I’m playing along with …

My Favorite Things Summer School – Rule of Thirds – The chevrons are two thirds down and the sentiment is in the sweet spot … where the horizontal and vertical two thirds lines intersect.

SSS Wednesday – Anything Goes

WOW! – Summer – Those sizzling hot summer colours … and my clear embossed hello!  (I’m a Feedly Follower … hope that counts!)

I’ll be back later with a little something else … yes, really … I’ve been marginal moment creating!  Thanks so much for coming by, your visits and comments are always a joy!   Anita 🙂

Uniko #22 – Guest Designer, SSS Wednesday 17/6

The brand new challenge at Uniko starts today … and I’m thrilled and honoured that this month as I get to be their Guest Designer!  Thanks so much Bev, Sandie and the DT!  The theme this time round is ‘Anything Goes … with the option of masculine’ … I took the option with my take …

Uniko 22 GD… a kind of cool dude, masculine card (although with different colours and font, it could easily be sweetly feminine too!).  The Uniko line of stars (from Background Builder Christmas) was stamped in ombré blues/greens in groups of three, balanced with white space between them of the same depth.   I stamped the graphic style sentiment (Clearly Besotted), matted the star panel onto black and popped the whole thing up on foam dots on the card base.  The black centred silver stars were the final touch.  You may notice that the right side one is slightly hanging off the edge of the panel … it wasn’t one of those ‘creative opportunities’, it was deliberate!  The design is pretty graphic and angular, so for a bit of fun … and to draw the eye to something unexpected … I placed it off the edge … did it work?  Are you taking a closer look … are you smiling (tee hee)??

How about playing along with us?  The use of Uniko goodies is optional … but it would be lovely to see them (and there’s an incentive!) … you have until Friday 3 July (08.00 BST) to get creative!  Oh, and there are generous prizes … including new Loyalty Reward Points!  All the details and heaps of inspiration from the DT and my fellow GD, Melissa are over at the Uniko blog … look forward to seeing you in the gallery!

Time Out DT #33 Mid Challenge Reminder, AEI♥U #25, Addicted To CAS #65, My Favorite Things #233, SSS Work It Wednesday – May, SSS Wednesday 17/6

I’m here with a happy little reminder that there’s still almost a week to go before the doors close on our current challenge at Time Out … we’re ‘Inspired By Words’ at the moment … with ‘happy is the bride that the sun shines on’.  This time, I picked out the word ‘happy’ …

Time Out DT 33R, AEI♥U 25, ATCAS 65, SSSWIW MayTime Out… well, what could be happier than a fluttery butterfly over a rainbow of colour?  The rainbow here is stamped with Avery Elle‘s Brushed … I did a whole card panel and trimmed it down … so I still have lots still to play with.  The butterfly (from Papertrey, courtesy of my sweet friend Chriss) has a bottom layer of vellum and top layer of Wink of Stella coated white, and is adorned with rainbow gems.  I attached the rainbow strip flat to the card base, added Wink of Stella over the top and stamped the Avery Elle sentiment … and the butterfly gently settled herself into the remaining space.  She’s rather proud of her ensemble and thought you’d like to see it in a little more detail …

Time Out DT 33R, AEI♥U 25, ATCAS 65, SSSWIW May DetailHow would you like to play along with us … we’d love it if you would!  You can use any or all of the words to inspire your design … and there are heaps of ideas over at the Time Out blog if you need a bit of a kick start … from our talented GD, Sue from Sue’s Card Craft and from our fabulous DT!  Look forward to seeing you in the gallery!

Muse #121, CAS(E) This Sketch #127, SSSM 8/6, SSSW 10/6

I’ve had some fun making a card this evening … well, when I say ‘a’ card, that’s not quite true … what I mean is there’s only one card to show you … the rest are keeping the paper bin very happy.  When you see the one that lived, you’ll wonder what took me … yep, me too … think Monsieur Mojo must’ve sneaked out and is off living it up somewhere … hope he’s not going to be gone too long!  Here’s the survivor …

Muse 121, CTS 127, SSSM 8-6, SSSW 10-6 … which I readily admit is really rather too similar to Michele‘s splendid Muse card further down!   After many attempts at all kinds of CASEs, I eventually copied mimicked Michele‘s blooms by die cutting circles (MFT) of white and navy card, triple clear embossing the navy ones to make them stand out and shine, and adhering them together.  The Lawn Fawn leaf stems were stamped onto a white panel and coloured with a Memento re-inker, and the flower heads were fixed them in place above them.  The stamped ‘hello’ is from Clearly Besotted and the die cut ‘you’ is from SSS, adhered so it would hang off the edge of the panel, as a nod to Michele‘s overhanging sentiment banner.   Now that shouldn’t have been too difficult or time consuming … should it?  Well, no … it wasn’t … it was all the others that were!

I’m playing along with …

Muse – Michele (I Card Everyone) … a smidge last minute but I really wanted to play (see below).

CAS(E) This Sketch – Sam Simpson … with a stretch or two (see below)

Time Out DT #33, Just Us Girls #296, Virginia’s View #15, SSS Wednesday 10/6, Less Is More #227

It’s time for our sparkling new challenge at Time Out … this fortnight, we’re Inspired By Words … and the words are ‘happy is the bride that the sun shines on’.  Here’s my take …

Time Out DT 33Time OutI took a couple of the words, ‘sun shines’, and made a sunny card using a long triangle stamp Avery Elle‘s Bright Days in two different yellows.  The AE hello was cut three times, stacked up, and was mounted overlapping a narrow card panel.  I stamped the rest of the sentiment onto the panel and applied plenty of Wink of Stella to it, as well as to the hello and the sun, before adhering the sun flat to the card base and popping the sentiment panel up over it.  Would you like to see some of the shimmer …

Time Out DT 33 DetailWhere does your imagination take you when you hear the words ‘happy is the bride the sun shines on’?  You can use a single word, a selection or even the whole phrase as the inspiration for your card … however the mood takes you!  All the details are over on the Time Out blog, along with a ton of inspiration from our talented Guest Designer, the lovely Sue from Sue’s Card Craft and our amazing DT!  Look forward to seeing you in the gallery!
