Time Out DT #40 Mid Challenge Reminder, Retrosketches #182, SSS Monday 21/9, SSS Wednesday 23/9

Hello!  Our ‘CASE … With Your Own Twist’ challenge over at Time Out is only half way through … so if you haven’t played along already, there’s still plenty of time … and why would you not want to CASE our designer … she’s the wonderful, uber talented and lovely Tracey McNeely of In My Creative Opinion!  Tracey has given us a soft, dreamy, delicate card to CASE … it’s a little further down … this week, I rather strayed from the original with mine …

Time Out DT 40R, Little Tangles 60, Retrosketches 182Time Out… here’s Tracey’s beautiful card …

I die cut a circle of vellum (MFT Circle Stax) and gold heat embossed the Neat & Tangled image onto it, doing a little masking and restamping to get the wreath shape (it comes with ‘laurel’ sprigs each side).  A white card panel was sponged with Hero Arts Mint Julep and the vellum circle was adhered over it, just off the edge of the card, and attached only under the little flowers so it ‘floats’ a little.   A slender strip of gold foil paper was attached to the edge of the card base and the panel was popped up onto the base on fun foam.  The additional sentiment (from WPlus9) was gold embossed onto white, trimmed and adhered flat, tucked just under the vellum and overlapping the gold strip.  I scattered a few gold sequins and was done!

How will you be inspired by Tracey‘s card … there are soft colours, the sponged background, delicate vellum, crisp heat embossing … we’d love to see where your creative imagination takes you!  There’s tons of inspiration over on the Time Out blog if you need a little kick start … from our talented Guest Designer Stempelfrida and from our fabulous DT … hope to see you in the gallery!

In addition to being inspired by Tracey‘s card, I was also inspired by …

Retrosketches – Sketch Below … my first time playing along … loved that off the page sketch, which also just happened to have been inspired by Tracey!

SSS Wednesday – No Designer Paper

Muse #133, SSS Monday 14/9, SSS Wednesday 16/9

Hello!  It’s been a mostly non card making weekend here … although I did manage to create a little something waaaaay outside my comfort zone for Muse tonight … where Michele has given us the most delicious and dramatic little number to be inspired by!  Here ‘s my take …

Muse 133, SSSM 14-9, SSSW 16-9and here’s Michele’s gorgeous creation … yep, stunning!

So … I feel the need to admit something which will probably have you throwing your hands up in horror … no judging please … I’m not a DP hoarder!  There, I said it!  In fact, my whole stash of DP is just a couple of centimetres deep, if that … so Michele’s challenge to use DP as a background was a smidgy bit of a stretch!  What I found is crisp and fresh rather than bold and dramatic … the closest match available!  My fluttery thing is a Clearly Besotted dragonfly (une libellule in French, which is a much prettier name for such a lovely thing!) … she has one pair of pink vellum wings and one pair of even more delicate white ones … and is gently pulling along a WPlus9 tag and sentiment on a silver thread.  Voilà!

Here’s where she’s fluttering off to …

MuseMichele F has provided our amazing inspiration this week!

SSS Monday – Love This Technique … die cutting, it appears on so many of my cards!

SSS Wednesday – Die Crazy … my petite libellule!

Hope your weekend’s been splendid … mine’s close to being over but I think I’ll just fit in a little blog wandering before bed!  Thanks so much for coming by, your visits and comments are always a joy!  Anita 🙂

Time Out DT #40, NBUS #5, SSS Monday 14/9

Hello!  This next fortnight at Time Out, we have a fantastic ‘CASE … With Your Own Twist’ challenge … our designer is the supremely talented, delightful, one and only Tracey McNeely of In My Creative Opinion …. yep, really!  Tracey has given us the most delicious card to CASE … it’s below … you can see how much I loved it by how I’ve shamelessly copied CASEd it!

Time Out DT 40Time Out… and here’s Tracey’s glorious card … see what I mean about *ahem* CASEing?

See the similarities??  Well, there were a few twists in my version … trimmed out and layered up  Papertrey‘s Circle Scribbles for my flower … embossed in WOW Silver Pearl EP rather than white (my NBUS … a recent win!) … blinged with tiny pearls … sentiment also blinged (with black pearls) … and the panel popped up onto the card base.

How will Tracey‘s card inspire you … the soft colours, vellum, heat embossing … and what will be your twist?  Where ever your CASE-ing creativity takes you, we’d love it if you played along!  There’s inspiration galore over on the Time Out blog … from our talented Guest Designer Stempelfrida and from our own wonderful DT … hope to see you in the gallery!

I’m linking my card up with a couple of challenges …

NBUS – Anything Goes … lovely Darnell’s awesome challenge … if you haven’t checked it out and played along … GO … you really need to see djkardkreations … your world will not be complete without a visit!  Oh, my NBUS was the Silver Pearl EP from WOW.

SSS Monday – Love This Technique … my second entry … again using heat embossing … I never tire of the magic!

Thanks so much for coming by, your visits and comments are always a joy!  Anita 🙂

Happy Birthday, Bev! NBUS #5, WPlus9 Get Sketchy #3, Seize The Birthday 10/9, SSS Wednesday 9/9, SSS Monday 14/9

Hello!  I’m sure you already know Bev (one of my fellow BABES) … she’s generous, sweet, caring, fun, enthusiastic and uber talented … and she lives at Happy Dance.  Yep, that Bev … she has a birthday today, and the card I’m sharing here is to celebrate her special day!  Wishing you the happiest, happiest birthday, ma chère amie … may you be blessed with a wonderful, happy dancing day full of love and laughter … and a year to come filled with joy!  Your card has caught it’s flight and may even be on your side of the pond already (but probably not in your mail box yet!) … oh, and there’s a party … keep reading …

Happy Birthday Bev, NBUS 5, WP9 Sketch 3, STB 10-9, SSSW 9-9I stamped the happy banner from WPlus9 (Happy Mail) repeatedly across a white card panel and heat embossed it.  Blue and yellow are colours that Bev loves, so the individual flags were watercoloured with Distress Inks in Salty Ocean and Mustard Seed … I wanted the transition between them to be ombré-ish, so where the colours mingled there are various shades of yellow/green and blue/green.  I masked the panel along the bottom and used the same two Distress Inks to sponge more ombré colour to mimic the banners.  The rest of the sentiment (also Wplus9) was white heat embossed onto a strip of black card, which was cut into a banner and popped up on the panel with foam tape.  I mounted the panel onto the card base using fun foam, scattered some clear gems across the sponged colour and heavily Wink of Stella’d the flags.  You might just be able to make out the shimmer if you look carefully above … or it might be easier to see it here …

Happy Birthday Bev, NBUS 5, WP9 Sketch 3, STB 10-9, SSSW 9-9 DetailInspiration for Bev‘s card came from …

Darnell’s NBUS #5 – Anything Goes … my NBUS is the WPlus9 Happy Mail set

… the badges/links are all at the end of this post.

If you’ve met Bev already, you’ll know that she throws the most amazing virtual parties … but she couldn’t do her own now could she?  So rather in the role of apprentice party thrower, I thought it might be fun to return the compliment.  Bev … this is for you, my friend … just follow the driveway …

Time Out DT #39 Mid Challenge Reminder, Make The Day Special – September, Virginia’s View #18, SSS Wednesday 9/9, Word Art Wednesday #200

Our ‘Make Your Mark’ challenge over at Time Out is just about half way through … and I’m popping in with a card as a gentle reminder that you still have almost a week to play along with us … if you haven’t already (or even if you have … you can come back for more!).  This graphic little number is what I came up with …

Time Out DT 39R, VV 18, MTDS September, HLS CAS SeptemberTime OutI repeatedly stamped an image from Avery Elle‘s Modern Leaves onto a white card panel, trimmed it to size and coloured the leaves with Promarkers.  A black panel was white heat embossed with the Avery Elle Brushed sentiment, trimmed to match the white, and attached to the leaf panel.  I covered the join with a slender strip of grey and popped the whole thing up onto fun foam on the card base.  I tried valiantly to add bling … but there wasn’t a sequin, gem, pearl or dot that felt needed by the cool graphic style … so I just let them be!

How about showing us where your creativity takes you with this theme … you can use any type of marker or crayon … and there’s an optional monochrome colour palette twist.  Colouring can be as intricate or as simple as you want to make it … as you can see from my card, I went very simple!  We’re sponsored this fortnight by Uniko … our overall winner (as chosen by the DT) will win a £15 evoucher … that’s in addition to being invited to be a Guest Designer for a future challenge!  All the details are over on the Time Out blog, along with heaps of inspiration from our talented Guest Designer, Marika from Me and Minime Crafting, from some of the Design Team at Uniko, and from our own amazing DT.  Look forward to seeing you in the gallery!

My card comes to you courtesy of …

Make The Day Special – Colour Palette … see options below

Virginia’s View – Geometric Patterns … my second entry

SSS Wednesday – Use a Stamp … leaf and sentiment

ETA – Thanks to Karen who is on the DT (thanks for the invitation, Karen!), I’m also playing along at Word Art Wednesday, where there’s a celebration going on for the 200th challenge … congratulations!   The team are hoping for 200+ entries this time, so if you have chance to link up a card to help achieve this aim, that would be wonderful!  Oh, and there are prizes to be won too, if you need any more incentive to get creative!  (Karen, I’ve tried to leave a comment on the blog, but it keeps being rejected for some reason!)

Thanks so much for coming by, your visits and comments are always a joy!  Anita 🙂

Welcome Baby Russ! MFT Wednesday Sketch #244, Simply Create Too #93, SSS Wednesday 2/9

Hello!  I’m sharing a card this evening to welcome a new little soul into the world … you may already have heard about her arrival around blogland.  Our teamie at Time Out, Shery and her husband (of STAMPlorations fame!) have a sweet new addition to their family … baby Kathryn has made her appearance!  The girls on the DT are celebrating with cards (of course!) over on the Time Out blog … why not pop over and enjoy all the gorgeousness … we’d be delighted to have you visit!  Many congratulations, Shery … wishing you all many blessings, joy and happiness as you start this new adventure together!

Baby Russ, MFT Sketch 244, SCT 93, SSSW 2-9I cut the tag (WPlus9) once in yellow and once in white, masked, stamped and coloured the cutie pie chickadees from Technique Tuesday, adhered the two tags together, slightly offset, and added a twizzle of twine.  The French sentiment (Papertrey) was stamped onto a hand cut banner and popped up on the tag … it means ‘little sweetie’ or ‘little darling’ … definitely not ‘little cabbage’ … which is what you get from a translation programme!!  The tag was popped up on a panel of embossed card … which was popped up on the card base.  I added a generous coating of Wink of Stella to the chickadees to finish … after all, what’s a celebration without sparkle?  Want to see …

Runway Inspired Challenge #91, Virginia’s View #18, Freshly Made Sketches #202, SSS Monday 31/8

Hello again!  I’m back with my second card from the weekend … rather more bold and graphic than the last … look …

RIC 91, VV 18, FMS 202, SSSM 31-8I sliced up some black and white card, put it together again over an adhesive covered piece of spare card, and trimmed it to size.  The banner is a die cut from SSS (now retired), also cut to size … in length and width.  I used some removable tape to take the little squares from the grid, coloured them randomly with Promarkers, adhered the grid to another strip of card and nestled the the squares cosily into their places.   A loosey goosey (Laura speak!) nest of thread was twirled behind the banner, which was then adhered across the black and white panel.  I stamped the sentiment (Annabelle Stamps, sadly now not operating), the panel was popped up on fun foam and I added a  black sequin and white dot over the nest.

My inspiration for this card came from …

Runway Inspired Challenge – Michael Kors … check out that cool, graphic ensemble below!  I picked out the black and white from the jacket, trousers and walls, my banner mimics the blouse, the thread nest is a nod to the handbag strap, and the sequin/dot combo reflects the belt buckle!

Virginia’s View – Geometric Patterns … both the panel and the banner.

Freshly Made Sketches – Sketch below… it’s fabulous!

SSS Monday – Trio of Colours …  mine were the aqua, lime and black … the black was so key to the design, I counted that as a colour rather than a neutral … hope that’s ok!

That’s it from me for now … time for bed … I’ll be back tomorrow with my final make of the weekend!  Thanks so much for coming by, your visits and comments are always a joy!  Anita 🙂
