Seize The Birthday 8/10 – Surprise Party Guest, Virginia’s View #19, SSS – WCMD, SSS Work It Wednesday – September

Hello again … if you’re looking for my Time Out DT post, it’s here …. otherwise, I’m back with the secret I mentioned earlier … today I get to be the inaugural Surprise Party Guest over at Seize The Birthday!  Thanks so much, Nancy, for the invitation and for your wonderful welcome … I’m thrilled and delighted to be joining you and the DT during October!  The theme for my first party challenge is ‘Splatter’ … those of you who have visited before will know there’s rarely even a smidge of splatter on my cards … but I threw caution (and Distress Ink) to the wind (in a rather delicate manner) and came up with this …

STB GD 8 OctI stamped Neat and Tangled‘s Scandinavian Flowers randomly across a white card panel, wiping ink off some before stamping them, to make the tiny flower heads and single sprigs.  The flower heads were masked off and I gently splattered the panel with Mustard Seed and Spiced Marmalade Distress Inks.  The flowers were coloured with Promarkers, had lots of Wink of Stella added and were treated to a couple of coats of Glossy Accents.  The ‘smile’ die cut is from SSS (with the surrounding circle trimmed off) … and the supplementary birthday greeting (also SSS) is nestled in just underneath it.  I added slender strips of black to the top and bottom of my base card and popped the panel up over them on foam tape.  Seems those flowers are happy dancing with such enthusiasm, they’re sending their pollen flying everywhere!  How about a close up of all that shimmer and shine …

STB GD 8 Oct DetailIf you’ve played along at Seize The Birthday before, you’ll know that the theme … or ‘Toppings’ … are optional.  So for this challenge, you don’t have to ‘Splatter’ … you can make any birthday card and join in with us … hope you will!  Looking forward to finding out where your creativity takes you … see you in the gallery!

My happy flowers are also dancing over to …

Hi Anita, Welcome to STB as our October Party Guest. Glad to have you joining us. I love your sweet card with the row of flowers and the splatters.

  2. Michele F

You’ve done a fabulous job of splattering, Anita… I know this must have been so scary for you to do to this fabulous, gorgeously designed card!

Congrats on being the first party guest at STB! I would say that you are a natural “splatterer”! They look great in yellow surrounding the whimsical, sparkly flowers!

Your sweet flowers really are happy dancing, Anita, and flinging their beautiful pollen far and wide! It is a flowing, joyful birthday card! Congratulations on being the surprise guest for October!! Miss you, doll! Hugs and Mwah! Darnell

Darnell is right…your flowers are totally ‘happy dancing’! That is a whole lot of perfect masking but well worth the effort creating the background. Love the Wink and gloss!

We are on holidays at Elkhorn right now and internet is hit and miss…make that mostly miss, so will catch up when we get home!

What a happy card…love the splatters…always like that look. But what really caught me eye was those charming, delicate little flowers and how you enhanced them. Of course, since yellow is my favorite color that’s not too surprising. Anyway, the card just brings me joy

Anita, Big congrats, and they are lucky to have you! Your cards always have such a happy & sunshine feel about them. This one is no exception. (also I love that textured linen look of the white paper you frequently use). The row of dancing posies is just darling, and the little centers made me think of ‘eyes’. Love the coats of glossy, as it certainly shines so pretty. And wonderful spatters. Now mine – they’d look like blobs instead of delicate pollen. TFS & Hugs

Big congratulations, and what a well deserved honor. Your card is absolutely stunning–the perfect combination of wonderful coloring, white space and splatter.

Your pretty flowers look like they are dancing across the page, and I love all of those pretty splatters! Thanks so much for joining us this month at Seize the Birthday as our Surprise Party Guest!

I’m digging those cool flowers and your splatter is just wonderful. I always love a good splatter, but I rarely use it myself. Hmm, now that’s a good challenge!

Congrats on your Guest Designer spot, Anita! I love your card! These whimsical flowers are so sweet, and I love how you ‘trapped’ the shimmery WOS under the Glossy Accents…I need to try that 🙂 Love all of your splatters, too…what a wonderful birthday card!

Congrats on your guest DT spot Anita! I must say, I’m not a ‘splatterer’ either…I think it’s the lack of control I have over the ink! You have splattered beautifully and those doodle flowers are so fun. The shiny flowers just give that little bit extra detail perfectly!

I’m late to the happy dancin’ flower party…Been a bit preoccupied, but hopefully now things will calm down. LOVE this little card, and a huge congrats on being Miss October over at STB!! Very cool, my friend, very cool. I’m still loving those flowers and what you do with them. The GA is perfect, as are the spatters, and the black borders really set the whole design off wonderfully. Great card. Miss you tons, and a thousand hugs. Bisous, bisous.

Congrats! Well done and well chosen (by them)! The card is great, and I don’t say that because the flowers are Scandinavian 😉 It’s so cheerful! And the splatter is perfect! I’ve noted that you often use fun foam to a great effect. What is that? Have you got a link or similar? //Kerstin

PS Guess who is the proud owner of a Ranunculus stamp set? Whoho!

  17. Colleen F

Anita, I want to personally welcome you to the STB honored guest spot! We are so happy you could join us. Your card is of course very worthy of this spot as it always is every time we have a challenge. Thank you for faithfully entering this challenge and sharing your talent and gifts with all of us…we can all learn a lot from you! This card is just perfect in every way!

  18. Nancy L.

First of all, I am thrilled to have you as our very FIRST Surprise Party Guest and I just adore those flowers that appear to be dancing on your card. Super job with the fine splatters too! Have an awesome day!

  19. Gerrina

Congrats on your Gast-DT! Have seen the beautiful card there and saw that fun photo of you also! Love the glossy flowers; they lift the total card to a higher level! Hugs, Gerrina

  20. Petra

Big congrats, Anita!!! And what a sweet and darling card you have made!!!! I love those cheerful little dancing flowers with the lovely shine!!!! And the splatters …perfect!!! Oh, this is soooooo cute!!!! Love it!!!!

In the absence of flowers here (and, too soon, leaves…), your Scandinavian Flowers have marvelous charm. Colours, arrangement, splatters (applauding your skill in applying them…and courage!): ultra gorgeous! Your little garden of joy has me smiling!

Thanks so much for taking the time to comment, I really appreciate it!
