Hello! We’re half way through our ‘CASE … With Your Own Twist’ challenge over at Time Out, where our designer, the amazingly talented Karen, has given us a gorgeous masked and sponged, wonderfully crisp CAS card … it’s a little further down. This week, for your inspirational delight, I strayed a little from the original …
Here’s Karen‘s original and delicious card …
See what I mean about straying? It’s not as far off Karen‘s card as it first appears … mine still has a masked off panel, an image within the sponged area, some splatter and plenty of glorious white space! I taped off the bottom of a white card panel, stamped the WPlus9 polar bear (which was covered with a trimmed out post it mask) and sponged over him with Tumbled Glass Distress Ink, using a circle mask made from an MFT die. The SSS star was silver heat embossed, I added some silver splatters and then removed the tape from the bottom of the panel. The sentiment (made from Lawn Fawn‘s Milo’s ABCs) was stamped into the space, which was edged with slender strips of glittery washi tape (that little guy had to be sitting on something!). A scattering of stars was added around the sentiment, the polar bear got a single star of his own to hold, and I popped the panel up on the card base on craft foam.
How would you like to play along with us … you can use any or all of the elements in Karen‘s card to inspire you … and we’d love to see what you create! There are plenty of ideas available over at the Time Out blog, from our fabulously talented Guest Designer, Jen from I Create and from our own wonderful DT! Look forward to seeing you in the gallery!
My polar bear is heading over to these three challenges …

This is heartmeltingly beautiful! I am totally in love with this polar bear card!
Love this card – the way the polar bear is looking up with wonder at the star really captures the feeling of the season!
Oh, this is such a sweet card, Anita! I love your take on Karen’s card…Beautiful sponging, and I love the font on your sentiment!
Thanks for sharing this photo of the Eiffel Tower…my heart goes out to everyone in France right now.
so beautiful, anita… I love the tiny pop of red and how you kept to the spirit of the original piece with the masked and inked circle!! (my thoughts and prayers are with france… stay safe, my friend!)
Anita this is so charming. The splatters of silver look wonderful. A nice, sweet card. You of course are in my thoughts constantly and I know you are not close to Paris but it seems there is danger everywhere. I better not get political but I think of my grandparents fleeing France to England during WWII. God Bless all of us. Love, Barb
This is totally awesome! So sweet that you gave him his own star, as well!
Hi Anita! I don’t think you strayed too far off 🙂 I love this adorable bear looking up at the Christmas star! Still keeping you all in my prayers.
Glad I scrolled down a bit, otherwise I would have missed the opportunity to see this sweet little guy! AMAZING shading….seriously amazing! Beautiful, subtle background – love the splatters and love the star! The wee red star on the bear’s paw….brilliant (literally!).
Okay…now I have go get the last few items loaded for our trip to Calgary cuz Danny should be here in about 5 minutes!!!
Brava…love the masked circle and that charming little polar bear…what I like best is that wonderful sentiment…you absolutely, down-to-the-ground, ACED this! Rester forte France. Nous somme avec vous. (Anita: Hope Google translated that correctly.)
This is adorable, Anita! Love the cute bear.
You’ve stolen my heart, again! Anita, this design is so wonderful – you’ll have us all CASEing YOU!

Your sweet polar bear, tenderly holding his little red star, and gazing, in wonder, at the beautiful shimmery star in the sky, has captured my heart! Touching…

Such a sweet bear! And I love how you used with all the sponging and stamping; a beautiful card! Enjoy the weekend!
Adorable card Anita. Love the cute bear.
I feel as though I’ve not popped ‘in’ to see you for ages Anita! Now to me this is perfect casing – taking an element from someone else’s card and using it to inspire your own! Your polar bear is sweet perfection and I love how he’s gazing at the metallic star. Love your pic of the Eiffel Tower. Did you see the Opera House lit up too? It really was amazing how so many countries lit their iconic buildings in support…made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside after a depressing day of news last week
This is so beautiful. I love how the polar bear is gazing up at the star!
Oh wow that bear is so sweet 🙂 This card is such a great combination of traditional christmas and cuteness.
