Time Out DT #53, Addicted to Stamps & More #187, SSS Wednesday – 30 March

Hello … bonjour!   We have a fabulous new challenge for you at Time Out today … this time we’re ‘Inspired by Words’ with this fun quote from Eleanor Roosevelt … ‘A woman is like a tea bag … you can’t tell how strong she is until you put her in hot water’.  Here’s my take …

Time Out DT 53RTime OutI drew some ‘unstructured’ lines down a panel of watercolour card with four colours of Zig Brush Markers.  So that the lines wouldn’t get washed out, I added water to alternate stripes, pulled the colour in from each side, left the panel to dry … and then went back and did the same with the remaining stripes.  The sentiment is from Concord & 9th, white heat embossed over the watercolouring … and I added a scattering of clear sprinkles … just because they put me in mind of droplets on a watery background!  The panel was trimmed to size and popped up on craft foam onto the card base.

How does this quote inspire you?  I was taken with the overall sense of the phrase … but you can focus on any or all the words for your card … or on something that it brings to mind.  This particular challenge is running for one week only … Mr Linky’s doors will close next Wednesday, 6 April at 5.00pm BST … normal fortnightly service will be resumed from then on!    All the details are over at the Time Out blog, along with heaps of yummy inspiration from our amazing DT and from our wonderfully talented Guest Designer, Elaine from Craft-E-Place.  Do hope you’ll get chance to play along!

I’m delighted to say a warm hello to some new followers today … Marianne from Marianne’s Cards n Stuff, Sarah from Sazzle Dazzle Crafts and Carole from Craftilicious Creations … you’re all very welcome, ladies … thank you so much!  There is so much talent wrapped up in these three creative crafters … just have a wander round their blogs and you’ll see what I mean!

The Challenge #66 – Featured Designer, CAS(E) this Sketch #165, TE Share Joy #28, Little Tangles #66, Seize The Birthday – 24 March

Hello … bonjour … hope you had a Blessed and Joyful Easter!  I’m here for the last time today as Featured Designer over at The Challenge … it’s been so much fun and an honour to have joined Lesley and the DT for the whole month … such amazing talent in this fabulous group of crafters … and such wonderful, inspirational challenge photo’s!   Thanks so much for having me, ladies, it’s been a delight!   We have a masculine theme this time round (the fabulous picture is below) … here’s my take on it …

The Challenge GD 4The Challenge #66 - March Week 4 - MasculineMy stash is nautically challenged … but I was so taken with the images and those delicious blue hues that I wanted to capture the overall sense of the ocean!  I used Papertrey‘s Ombre Builders to create the ombré waves across a white card panel, added a stacked SSS ‘smile’ die cut so it would bob about on them (as a life saver would!) and adhered a flag shaped secondary sentiment (also SSS) alongside.  The miniscule pops of red in the die cut and at the end of the flag mimic the edge of the wavy navy pillow in the photo!  I sponged the edges of a card base with Distress Ink and popped the panel up on craft foam over it … voilà!

There are so many different elements to this gorgeous inspiration photo … what takes your eye?  You can choose to focus on any or all of them … or just use it as a prompt to spark your creative imagination.  We’d love to see what you come up with … hope you’ll join us in the gallery!  All the details are over at The Challenge … along with plenty of wonderful ideas from the fabulous DT!

Time Out DT #52 Mid Challenge Reminder, Seven Hills Crafts – March, The Paper Players #287

Hello … bonjour!  Have you played along with our latest challenge at Time Out yet?  We have a ‘Designer to CASE’ theme this time round … our designer is the talented Marjan Kuppers from M@rjan’s Blog … and her gorgeous card is a little further down.  Here’s where I went with it this week …

Time Out DT 52RTime Outand here’s Marjan‘s lovely card …

My card features the same fabulous colours and floral theme as Marjan‘s … with added dimension from the die cuts and a touch of whimsical style.  I stamped and die cut some blooms and leaves from WPlus9‘s Doodle Buds, coloured them with Promarkers and added some white gel pen accents.  The stems and middle leaves were stamped direct to the card base and were coloured with Zigs.  The scalloped frame started out as a full panel (Winnie & Walter) … I just used a craft knife and ruler to cut out the middle to create the frame.  I popped up the frame, flowers and single leaves on foam tape over the stamping, white heat embossed the sentiment (from the same WPlus9 set) onto a black snippet of card and adhered it to the edge of the frame.

If you haven’t played along with us yet, how about giving it a go … or if you already have, how about second helpings?  You can use any or all of the elements in Marjan‘s card to inspire you … and we’d love to see what you create!  All the details are over at the Time Out blog, along with loads of fabulous ideas from our wonderful DT.  Hope to see you in the gallery!

The Challenge #65 – Featured Designer, A2Z Scrapbooking – March, Addicted to CAS #84, CAS(E) this Sketch #164, Uniko #30

Hello … bonjour!  Hope you had a fabulous weekend!  I’m so happy to be here for my third week as Featured Designer over at The Challenge.  This time, we have a gorgeous photo inspiration to get your creative juices going.  It’s a little further down … here’s where I went with it …

The Challenge GD 3… and here’s the lovely inspiration …

The Challenge #65 - March Week 3 - Photo InspMy focus was on those vibrant colours in the stack of books and on those beautiful blooms.  I used Hero Arts‘ Spring Hello by Lia to stamp and white heat emboss the sentiment and the cascade of sweet flowers onto the top third of a card panel … and then had fun with Distress Inks.  Don’t you just love that moment when the embossed images start to pop as you sponge and blend over the DI?  I mixed up some Brilliance white pigment ink with a little water, did some gentle splattering with a refilled Wink of Stella brush and then added some Star Dust Stickles to the centres of the flowers.  The panel was trimmed down and popped up on the card base on craft foam.  Couldn’t capture the full impact of the shimmeriness in the photo … IRL it’s really pretty!

What catches your eye in this beautiful picture … the colours, those soft peonies, the touches of gold, the graphic shapes … or is there some other detail that that captures your imagination?  We’d love to see how you’re inspired … and have you join in with us!  All the details are over at The Challenge … along with loads of wonderful ideas from the amazing Design Team.  Do hope you’ll have chance to play along!

Happy Birthday, Kim! MFT Colour Challenge #41, SSS Work It Wednesday – February

Hello … bonjour!  I’m here today to celebrate with one of the sweetest and loveliest souls in blogland … someone I’ve had the great fortune to meet IRL … and craft opposite … for a whole week at the Lake House in 2014.  I’m sure you already know her as she’s on numerous design teams and is an awesomely talented card maker … she is Kim … of Cupcakes, Cards and Kim!  Happy, Happy Birthday my dear sweet friend … wishing you a day of joy, love and laughter … and a year to come filled with dreams come true!   I made you this card, which is currently somewhere over the ocean on it’s way to you …

Happy Birthday Kim, MFT Colour Challenge 41, SSSWIW - FebruaryThe base card was sponged lightly to provide a soft yellow/green halo around the floral arrangement.  I stamped and die cut a whole heap of blooms and leaves from MFT, added some white gel pen doodling and created my bouquet. Before adhering everything down on various levels of foam tape into the ‘window box’ (log!), I stamped the delicate grassy strands in the background (same MFT set) and added the WPlus9 sentiment.

nullThe delightful Kylie of Happy Little Stampers fame (among others!!) is hosting a birthday linky party for Kim over at her blog Kylie is Addicted to Stamps … and all Kim‘s friends are invited to play along!  Want to get into your party frock and come celebrate?  The linky is open for two weeks, so there’s plenty of time to get creative!  Actually, why not head over to Kim‘s blog right now … you can enjoy a wonderful meander around and drink in all the creativity on offer … and leave her some Happy Birthday wishes!

Time Out DT #52, Less Is More #267, Right At Home National Craft Month Celebration Blog Hop, SSS Work It Wednesday – February

Hello …. bonjour … hope you’re having a fabulous week!  Today marks the start of another brilliant challenge over at Time Out … this time round, we have a ‘Designer to CASE’ theme … and our designer is the wonderfully talented Marjan Kuppers from M@rjan’s Blog … her delicious card is a little further down.  Here’s my take on it … Time Out DT 52

Time Out

… and here’s Marjan‘s soft and dreamy card …

My focus was on Marjan’s floral theme, her wonderful colours and that fabulous drift of bling disappearing off the top of the card.  I heat embossed the Papertrey sentiment and stamped the little blooms and leaves (same Papertrey set) around it, finishing off with some Winnie & Walter scattered dots and a few tiny gems in the flower centres.  Voilà … a one layer QACAS card (Quick And Clean And Simple in Darnell-ese!)!

So … how would you like to play along with us?  You can use any or all of the elements in Marjan‘s card to inspire you … we’d love to see what you create!  All the details are over at the Time Out blog, along with heaps of ideas from our wonderful DT.  Looking forward to seeing you in the gallery!

My card was also inpired by …

The Challenge #64 – Featured Designer, Seize The Birthday – 10 March, SSS Wednesday – 9 March

Hello … bonjour!  I’m excited to be back for my second week as Featured Designer at The Challenge … this time round we have a colour theme … just take a look at those gorgeous hues a little further down!  This is where my imagination took me …

The Challenge GD 2and here are the colours …

The Challenge #64 - March Week 2 - ColoursNot hard to see how I was inspired … hmmm?  That fun window blind and and bright green chest of drawers really caught my eye … and prompted me to pull out just the perfect Crafters Workshop stencil.  I sponged Distress Inks (Blueprint Sketch, Twisted Citron, Mermaid Lagoon, Hickory Smoke) direct to the card base, blending the colours and fading them out to nothing on the angle.  The Papertrey sentiment was cut in green card and blue craft foam, stacked and adhered direct to the card front.  Love how the slant of the script mimics the angle of the faded out stencilling!  I stamped the secondary sentiment nestled in under the die cut and added some enamel accents to finish.

Where is your paper crafting imagination going with these colours?  Where ever it’s is, we’d love for you to link up what you create and join us in the gallery!  All the details are over at The Challenge … along with heaps of inspiration from the amazing Design Team.  Do hope you’ll have chance to play along with us!

I’m joining in with …
