Hello … bonjour! We have a lovely new challenge starting today at Time Out … based around an autumnal Home Sweet Home inspiration photo (it’s a little further down) … here’s my CAS take on it …
… and here’s the amazing inspiration …
A one layer QACAS (quick and clean and simple in Darnellese) card … using one of the leaf images from STAMPlorations’ new Trendy Leaves 2 set (courtesy of team mate and owner of STAMPlorations, Shery … thanks so much, Shery!). I wanted to create a sense of depth on the leaves, so did some colour layering (yay MISTI!). Each leaf was stamped three times and on each pass, I dabbed off ink from the centre of the image before stamping, so that the outer edges turned out more strongly coloured. My photo doesn’t pick it up as well as it looks IRL … the effect appears more obvious above on the final leaf, although looking at it in front of me, all the leaf edges are bold! I did a little surgery on the sentiment (also STAMPlorations) so that it was in one straight line, which allowed me ‘ground’ the leaves.
What does your creative eye see in our picture … neutral stonework, glowing autumn colours, trees, grass, leaves, the arched window … or something else? Whatever it is, why not let your fingers get to work and play along with us … we’d love to see you in the gallery! We’re sponsored this time round by STAMPlorations … the winner (chosen by the DT) will receive a $10 GC, plus there will be two random draws … one for the Holiday Expressions: Thankful stamp set and one for the Trendy Leaves 2 set. All the details are over at the Time Out blog … along with a ton of inspiration from our wonderful DT and from our lovely and super talented returning Guest Designer, Claire from Life On The Scrapheap (you really need to visit … there’s so much deliciousness to meander through!).
I’m playing along with …
SSS Monday – At The Movies … Autumn Leaves (an oldie from 1956 with Joan Crawford)
SSS Wednesday – Clean and Simple
STAMPlorations – Anything CAS Goes … without the optional pink
The Paper Players – Cajun Craze, Crushed Curry, Pear Pizazz … my closest colours
Thanks so much for coming by, your visits and comments are always a joy! Anita 🙂
I have so much commenting to catch up on Anita! This is clean and simple perfection and I can definitely see how you’ve layered the ink. So annoying though when it’s not as clear in the photo as it is IRL!
For once lately, I’m not late to the party!! And just in time to tell you how pretty this sweet little one layer beauty is. I can see the depth on your leaves here, and your gorgeous paper creates an almost crazing look too. Perfect Fall colors, perfect choice in sentiments, and perfect CAS one-layer card. Love it! Miss you like crazy, and sending hugs your way. xoxo
Beautiful trio of leaves here. I could see the music on the the third leaf for sure and was struck by the wonderful color of each leaf. I also really like how the sentiment grounds the leaves.Lovely work, Anita! Hugs!
Anita….this is so beautiful! I love the wonderful fall colors you used on your fabulous leaves.
Wow…what an amazing photo inspiration AND an amazing stamp set! I might have to get this one myself…I am sucker for fall stamps! I love the simplicity of this creation and yet it has lots of color and interest! Thanks so much for playing with my colors this week at the Players!
Well that was interesting…was just leaving you a comment and the computer closed the browser…hmmm?
Anyway, as I was saying before, i can clearly see the color variations on these gorgeous leaves. Think you photo says CAS Perfection, loud and clear. Love how you grounded those leaves with the surgically altered sentiment. It makes them even more vibrant. You’ve really got a lot of mileage out of Shery’s leaves. And you played with so many challenges…very impressive. Surprised me that anyone remembers “Autumn Leaves” with Ms. Crawford…I thought I was the only one old enough to remember that. Do you recall who sang the title song, by any chance?
That is a great way to show depth, I hadn’t thought of that. I keep hearing how wonderful the Misti is vut keep thinking….will I use it..what do you think as I don’t repeat stamo often, or repeat the same card too much ( decisions!!). And I like that surgery, like to use that as I have the same set X
Such a simple yet stunning card! Love the leaves and the colors you chose!
This is beautiful. Love the simplicity of your design, and how the texture of the paper is incorporated into your leaves.
Gorgeous autumn colors and I love that you chose these beautiful leaves, Anita! What a great idea to ground them with your sentiment, too…so clever! A really lovely take on the inspiration photo, as always!
I love the touch of texture that the cardstock adds to the beautiful fall colors on your leaves.
Anita, what a fabulous fall card. I love your textured linen cardstock. It adds a lovely touch of texture without bulk.
It’s lovely, and you’ve captured the look of the fall leaves perfectly. I like this type of layering technique that you’ve used here (good for you & Misti) and the texture of the white background is reflected in the texture of those pretty leaves as well. TFS & Hugs
Leaves on linen – beautiful!! Great depth in your leaves too, Anita. You captured the essence of fall!
What a sweet trio of leaves, this is cute Anita!
A real cas-design; simple but oh so striking! Hugs, Gerrina
I love the added texture your gorgeous card stock gives to the leaves and I must remember that inking technique!
perfect clean and simple take on the inspiration photo, anita!!
Nothing wrong with QACAS when it looks this good, Anita.
Beautiful clean and simple card! Love those autumn leaves! xxx
It’s finally in the air here – fall. No more bare feet as of today. Your row of leaves, standing majestic like trees, is so pretty. Diggin’ the stamp surgery too 😉
So glad you found inspiration in our colors this week my friend! Your card is so beautiful! Just LOVE it!
Thanks for joining the Paper Players!
Great job, Anita! I’m sure all the leaves look as fab IRl as the last one does -sometimes it’s so hard to photograph all the small details we make! Your card is very pretty and very clever to stamp the sentiment this way too. xxx
Gorgeous colours & I love the shape of those leaves. Made all the nicer by the textured cardstock you used. Sorry I’m behind with my commenting. Been MIA with health issues so today is my day hopefully to try & catch up. Off to see the rest of your gorgeous work!
Fall is definitely here (windshield scraping all last week! and with it, leaves sporting vibrant colours comparable to your lovely trio here! My screen shows the colour gradients wonderfully…and oh, what an impact! I have the older set of Trendy Leaves…time to bring them out for some inky-attention!
Hugs~c
Anita, Anita ! You come back with another gorgeous card as usual ! Very CAS but so stylish ! The perfect colors to illustrate the fall (which is here now, we have already started to rake the leaves !). This inspiration photo is just awesome ! Thanks for sharing. Hugs !
beautiful CAS card Anita…love the autumn colours and a great take on the challenge…thank you for sharing over at the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge…hugs kath xxx
Another really pretty card! Just like it is here in Acadia National park, where I am vacationing at the moment. Mostly the leaves are still green, but a couple of early maples and birches add flecks of red and yellow.
CAS and elegant on your textured paper.

Clean and simple! Adore the colors, love the white space! Fabulous take on the inspiration photo. I love how the texture of the paper is visible through the ink on the leaves…makes me want to reach into my monitor and touch the leaves!
Really fab card Anita – the colours are crisp and delicious – just like the Autumn air! I love the depth you created in the leaves too – the MISTI is so good for techniques – I share your love of it!
Beautifully CAS …. love the autumn colours. Thanks for playing along with the STAMPlorations CAS challenge xx
Your dabbing does at least show on the red leaf – so pretty! Amazing, all those things you can do with the Misti! I can’t live without mine anymore……Stamp surgery – I love to do that, too 🙂
