Time Out DT #69, SSS Wednesday 25/10, Simplicity Thankgiving Campaign 2016

Hello … bonjour!  I’m starting today with a big thank you … to everyone who visited and/or left me sweet words following our BABES 2 Lake House adventure … I so appreciate each one of you!  Serendipitously, our new challenge starting today at Time Out is one that’s inspired by words, which are … Give Thanks With A Grateful Heart.  So that’s what I’m doing with today’s card … giving thanks for all of you 🙂 …

time-out-dt-69Time OutA jolly almost-one-layer card, stamped with Neat & Tangled‘s Scandinavian Prints (courtesy of Bev).  Little maids all in a row … with a white embossed sentiment banner (same set) over a strip of washi tape (thanks to Darnell).  The washi is a perfect match for the stamped blooms … and I’d have liked to show it to you in all it’s wonderful glory.  However, no matter how I tried, I just couldn’t find a way of doing it without detracting from those frilly flowers … and on top of that, it is rather retiring!  Apologies!

Where will our lovely words take you this fortnight?  You can use any or all of them to inspire a card … we’d love to see your take in the gallery!  All the details are over at the Time Out blog, along with creative cards galore from our fabulous DT and our wonderfully talented Guest Designer,  Karren from Stamping Stuff.  Do go and have a meander through Karren’s fun and fabulous blog … you’ll have a fantastic time … and will come away so inspired!

A Lake House Adventure … A Card … And A Bag!

Hello … bonjour!  Hope you’ve had a good week … with at least a little time to be crafty!  I’ve not had chance to get creative with paper over recent days … though I did have plenty of time the week before.  Last Sunday, I was on my way home after a wonderful card making week away at the Lake House … yep, as you may have read on Darnell‘s blog, the BABES got together again for lots of crafting, loads of laughing and heaps of fun!  Since then, it’s taken me a while … for my body to get over the loooong journey .. for my internal clock to adjust to the seven hour time difference … for me to get back into the swing of normal life … and it was all so worth it to spend time with these wonderful, fun and amazingly talented friends!  This is a long and photo heavy post, so if you’re just interested in a card, please do scroll down, there’s one waiting for you towards the bottom!  Otherwise, let me share a picture or two of our trip (courtesy of Darnell … thanks, mon amie!) … and if you’d like any more background, you can always go here for the original story two years ago.

babes-2-2Starting on the left and going round the table … Geri (Manitoba Stamper), Me, Ardyth (Maskerade), Bev (Happy Dance), Kim (Cupcakes, Cards and Kim), Darnell (dJkardkreations) … just as we sat down for a late lunch/early dinner once everyone had arrived.

babes-2-7          babes-2-6

We were blessed with beautiful autumn days almost all week … which brought these little albino squirrels out to play (we were sure this was Snowflake and her family … check out our last visit for more details about Snowflake!) … and ended with the loveliest sunsets, seen from our crafting table.

babes-2-8We had heaps of messy fun when Darnell shared with us her tips and tricks on using Brusho’s to create delicious backgrounds … and Ardyth showed us how she uses Magenta Colour Bursts for lovely loose watercolouring.  Both products are similar and create the most amazing effects.  Here are Geri and Bev playing (note the gloved hands and covered kitchen island … I did say it was messy!) … you can just see my gloved hands bottom left, about to start work on a card I’ll share in another post soon.

babes-2-12Oh … and we did lots and lots of card making … there were so many finished cards between us at the end of the week … and a whole heap of others part way through.  I got my Christmas card designs done … and did lots of the prep for getting them completed and ready to send out in plenty of time this year!  We shared ideas and techniques with one another and had chance to use one another’s goodies as well as our own, as we created our way through the whole seven days!  It was another memorable and to-be-long-treasured time … thank you so much, ladies, from my heart!

So, how about a Lake House card …

wcmc9-2-7hc-october-atsm-216-hls-dies-october

These gorgeous blooms are from Concord & 9th … stamped and white heat embossed direct onto a card base.  I sponged over a layer of Distress Ink to start and then went to work adding water and dropping more ink in and around the flowers and leaves, till I was happy with the soft watercolour look.  I cut a card panel and a piece of craft foam with a stitched circle die from MFT, and stacked them over the inked flowers.  The sentiment is from Papertrey, cut three times in card to match the inks … stacked and topped with white, and adhered across the card front.  Voilà!

My card is heading over to (badges below) …

Where Creativity Meets C9 – Watercolour

Seven Hills Crafts – Colour Palette (below) … I used the three lightest peacock colours

Happy Little Stampers Dies – Anything Goes

There’s also a little gift bag to share with you …

sssm-17-10This was made with a Lawnfawn die … and decorated with some newly acquired snowflake dies from SSS to go with the patterned paper (thanks for taking delivery, Bev!).  The bigger one was cut in glitter card, the smaller one was cut twice in vellum.  I adhered them all together at the centre, added a white bling to cover the join, popped them on the bag and topped the vellum with some Spectrum Noir clear sparkle.  When the sparkle dried, the vellum snowflakes had curled up to make themselves all dimensional … what a happy surprise!

I’m sending this over to (badge below) …

Time Out DT #68, CAS on Sunday #93, CAS-ual Fridays #158, Simplicity Thankgiving Campaign 2016, The Flower Challenge #1

Hello … bonjour!  We have a CASE the Designer challenge for you this fortnight at Time Out … and our designer is the amazingly talented Ardyth from Maskerade (yes, really!).  Ardyth’s fabulous card is below … here’s my take on it …

time-out-dt-68Time Out… and here’s Ardyth‘s floral delight …

My card is one layer, stamped with all but one image from Concord & 9th‘s Painted Thank You set.  I did the sentiment first, then randomly added the blooms (three reds) and leaves (two greens) around it.  The painted stripe at the bottom and the flower centres were embossed in gold, and I scattered some stamped dot clusters in the open spaces, to pick up on Ardyth‘s black frame.  Voilà!

What grabs your attention on Ardyth‘s card … sentiment, colours, florals, shimmery gold, the technique … or something else?  You can use any or all of the elements that Ardyth used for your card … we’d love to see what you create in our gallery!  All the details are over at the Time Out blog, along with loads of lovely inspiration from our amazing DT, and from our fabulous Guest Designer, Marina from My Perfect Life (who you need to visit if you haven’t already … there’s so much deliciousness on offer)!

I’m playing along with …

CAS on Sunday – Heat Embossing

CAS-ual Fridays – 1 in 8 (eight stamps from the same set)

Simplicity Thanksgiving Crusade – Thanksgiving or Thanks

Time Out DT #67 – Mid Challenge Reminder

Hello … bonjour!  I’m popping in with a scheduled post (it’s busy so I’m not around much!) … and a card to remind you that our latest challenge at Time Out still has almost a week to run.  Our theme is a special one as it’s October … it’s Breast Cancer Awareness and/or Friendship … with the optional twist of using pink and/or embossing.  Here’s my second take on it …

time-out-dt-67rTime Out

The CAS-ual Fridays blooms were stamped onto a white card panel, coloured with Promarkers and coated with Wink of Stella.  I trimmed the panel smaller then the image and fussy cut round the flower heads so they hang over the edges (thanks to the amazing Therese at Lost in Paper for that yummy idea!).  The base card was masked and sponged with black to provide a frame for the flower panel, which was popped up on craft foam.  I die cut a Papertrey sentiment out of card and black foam, ombré coloured the card one with Promarkers and coated it in with Wink of Stella.  It was adhered over the panel with the  overhanging letters mounted on the black foam.  I finished off by stamping the secondary sentiment (Papertrey and SSS) and adding some enamel accents to it and to the flower centres.

Our challenge this time round is being sponsored by CAS-ual Fridays.  Many of you will know of the fundraising and other fabulous work that Michele (owner and breast cancer survivor) is doing to raise awareness of the importance of early detection in fighting breast cancer … and of her Calling All Sistahs campaign and monthly blog posts reminding all of us to do our own self exams.  Michele will be offering the overall winner a $25 GC … and for a randomly drawn player who uses pink and embossing, there’ll be a prize package from the Calling All Sistahs collection.  All the details are over at the Time Out blog, along with heaps of inspiration from our fantastic DT and our lovely and super talented Guest Designer, Coni from Which Craft (if you didn’t visit last week … what are you waiting for … go and enjoy all the deliciousness on offer!  Hope to see you in the gallery!

As I mentioned earlier, life’s a bit full at the moment so I’m not around in blogland much.  Will be … there’s soooo much inspiration in my Feedly list just now … looking forward!  Thanks so much for coming by … your visits and comments are always a joy!  Anita 🙂
