A New Challenge at Time Out – #92 – Inspired By Words – And Some Feathers

Hello … bonjour!  We have a fun and delicious new challenge starting at Time Out today.  This fortnight, we’re Inspired By Words … and our quote has been specially chosen to celebrate International Dot Day … a day that celebrates creativity and the potential it has for us all.  Our words are from Robert Henri … ‘paint the flying spirit of the bird rather than it’s feathers’.  Here’s where I went with them …

Time OutA tumbling feathers card panel (thanks to the lovely Rosemary … not sure where it’s from … Papertrey, perhaps?), with some Spectrum Noir shimmer added (you can just see some top left), trimmed and adhered flat to the base card.  The sentiment is from SSS … a stacked and black heat embossed die cut … and a stamped and white heat embossed supplementary sentiment.  The only additions were the dots on the i’s, done with enamel accents (ever tried heat embossing a tiny dot … don’t!!).  QACAS as the delightful Darnell would say!

How will our quote inspire you?  You can use all or any of the words to get your imagination going … we’d love to see what you come up with!  This fortnight, we’re sponsored by Happy Little Stampers (thanks, Kylie) and our winner, as voted for by the DT, will receive a $15 GV.  All the details (including a little more about International Dot Day) are over at the Time Out blog, along with heaps of ideas from our fabulous DT and from our Guest Designer, the sweet and super talented Carol from Just Me: C.  I’m pretty sure you’ll know Carol … do pop over and enjoy a happy time browsing round her scrumptious cards … and why not say hello while you’re there … she’ll be delighted to see you!

Well you do know how much we adore our birds, Anita … I’m hoping that this delightful fluttering of feathers came from a down pillow! Each one, plucked, and colored so beautifully, my friend!

So honoured to join you and the team for this challenge, my dear friend! Your flutter of feathers is breath-taken-away gorgeous! The colours, the ‘randomness’, the sparkle, the sentiment…a combination that has me completely captivated! I’ll heed your advice on ‘not’ embossing wee dots *grin* Another WOW!

Well now, you took this quote and did Mr. Henri proud. Those colors are soft, shimmery and, oh so, appealing. What a remarkable idea for a card…feathers always bring a smile to my face. Their just so delicate and…well…feathery. (That makes no sense whatsoever.) Let’s just say, they intrigue me and leave it at that. Anyway, just a beautiful card.

I thought those feather looked familiar. It is PTI, Anita, and you’ve done wonders with them by glitzing them up and adding that fabulous sentiment.

Now you know I’m not overly fond of feathers. However. This card has done much to change my mind about that! It is gorgeous. I love how you’ve given them their wings (sorry, couldn’t help it), and let them take center stage. The simple black sentiment only adds to their prettiness. What a great card. LOVE it. Missing you tons. em soon, I promise. xoxo

I feel like I’ve been admiring this card for ages, only now getting about to telling you about it. Such a beautiful background, and I love the way you have used that die + sentiment. I’m going to copy you on this one!

I love everything about this card Anita – the colour combination is so beautiful and I am sure it shimmers beautifully in real life. The way the feathers are flying around, it makes me think of a pillow fight – silly I know – but how much fun would a pillow fight be with such pretty feather flying around ?!
