Guest Designing at Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge – November 2017 – Week 3

         wed-designerspotlight-header

Hello … bonjour!  I’m so grateful for your visits and sweet words about my Snow White cards last week … merci mille fois … and am thrilled to be here for the third time with the DT at Simon Says Stamp Wednesday as their Guest Designer for November!wed-newchallenge-header50dollar_voucher_600px          Simon Says Stamp

Our new challenge this week is ‘Furry Friends‘ … and we’re showcasing products from Newton’s Nook.  You don’t need to use Newton’s Nook goodies to join in … but we’d love to see them if you have some!  As always, if you play along, you’re in with a chance of winning a $50 gift voucher to spend at the fabulous Simon Says Stamp store … yum … fill that basket!

I realised while coming up with ideas for this challenge … I make very few cards with critters on them … birds, yes, critters, no.  So it was a wonderful change … and heaps of fun … to come up with a couple of cuties … with a touch of whimsy about them.  Here’s the first, a happy, pensive little bear with some good advice … I hand cut a mask and lightly sponged the background with Tumbled Glass Distress Ink, fading it out to nothing at the top.  The bear and bucket of fish are from MFT’s Polar Bear Pals and were a gift from the lovely Cat (thanks, my friend!) … they’re coloured with Promarkers and trimmed out.  The fish had Spectrum Noir Clear Sparkle added over the top (cause wet fish shine, even when they’re just a thought!) … and the bear was dotted with Blender pen to give him a fun furry look.  I stamped the sentiment onto the snow bank (it’s from Newton’s Nook Happy Little Thoughts, cut apart to make it long), doodled the thought bubbles and filled them with Glossy Accents, then popped up the images up on foam dots in their rightful places.  How about a closer look at that fluffy fur …

Now for a little mouse, not even stirring … mesmerised by the arrival of the Christmas star …      Here, I did all the stamping first … the sentiment is made up with Lawn Fawn’s Milo’s ABC’s … and the mouse and star are from Avery Elle’s Storybook (thanks to my sweet, happy dancing friend, Bev … merci mon amie!).   I used a torn mask to create the snowy landscape, and hand cut masks for the mouse and star … sponged Distress Inks onto the remaining space to create the sky (Tumbled Glass, Antique Linen, Seedless Preserves, Chipped Sapphire) … and spritzed it with a swoosh of Shimmer Spray.  Once it was dry, the images were coloured with Promarkers and covered with Glossy Accents … and the camouflaged word (SSS Christmas Blessings) was cut into the stamped sentiment and pieced back in on craft foam.  This detail shot shows off the shimmer and shine … and the sentiment … a little better … Twas The Night Before Christmas!

If you haven’t already been over there, do pay a visit to the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday blog to check out all the gorgeous cards from the Design Team … you’re sure to be inspired!  I know it’s an especially busy time of year … but I hope you’ll have time to join us this week … furry friends are such fun to play with!  Thanks so much for coming by, your visits and comments are always a joy!    Anita 🙂

Gorgeous cards Anita 🙂 both of them are adorable! I love the bear dreaming of a fish supper and the little mouse ‘wishing on a star’ is super cute, The way you have made the sentiment with the die cut overlay is very clever too 🙂

Oh dear…or should I say deer, your critters are adorable and delightful. So wistful and pensive, dreaming about what they hope for most. Terrific blending on both cards…the mouse’s night sky is spectacular..as is the camoflaged “Christmas” . Both cards are so perfect for the holiday season with all their little details and sweetness. They invoke the season’s warm and fuzzy feelings.

Goodness Anita, these cards are just adorable! Love that bear and the texture you gave him and he is for sure giving us good advice! The mouse is to cute gazing up at the star and I love how you did the sentiment with the hidden word. Your backgrounds on both cards looks amazing as well. I think you should do more critter cards in the future as you definitely are great at them! Hugs, Brenda

Now that’s one clever hidden die cut on your second fabulous card. So atmospheric and such a fabulous background. Such a cute first card and love the sentiment and the fun bucket of fish hi-lighted with gloss. You sure look like you had fun with those critters Anita x

I practically make only critter cards, so I’m thrilled to see you treating us to your critter cards, Anita! It’s no surprise that you ROCK them just as you do any other images! These are darling beyond words! Your blending, that bucket of fish, and that superb fur on your cute bear on the first card make me so happy! And the second, sigh, just beautiful every which way! I never would have thought to do the camouflage treatment with a sediment like that, but it works and I love it! LYAMYMAA, AA, ILYWOA!! Hugs, Darnell

Both cards are absolutely delightful, Anita! Oh the first one sure makes me smile! Yes, thinking happy thoughts is always a great idea! The colors and the fur look fantastic. The mouse on the second card is sweet. I really like the die cut of Christmas through the sentiment. What a great way to add interest and texture! Wonderful work! 🙂

Sweet furry friends, Anita! Funny how a challenge reminds us to use some of those elements we normally don’t use. I love your masked scenes on both cards and they both tell a story!

I have always loved that polar bear and he looks adorable dreaming of that big bucket of fish. Love the little mouse, too. The “hidden” die cut is a great twist. I don’t want your guest term to come to an end. I’m enjoying it too much! I’m glad we still have more weeks to look forward to. PS Did you see you won at W&W? I was happy dancing for you.

I never noticed the bucket of fish in the polar bear set, Anita. It looks so cute as a daydream for your beautifully colored bear. I love the design of the mouse card. It was so clever of you to overlay the stamped letters on the die cut. I have that set of Milo’s letters and they give me fits to line up. You did a beautiful job.

Well Anita, I cannot say you have missed your calling because clearly you have not. But you should do “cuties” more often. These are so cute and amazing and put a smile on my face. Plus I love cute critters and have a stash waiting to be used – including these darling bears. Yay!
