A New Challenge At Time Out – #98 Home Sweet Home – Stockings Are Hung …

Hello … bonjour!  Our wonderful new challenge starts at Time Out this morning … this fortnight, we have a Home Sweet Home photo to inspire you that’s fresh and festive with a touch of rustic (below) … here’s where I went with it …

Time Out

… and here’s the scrumptious photo inspiration …

These were perfect for our family's Christmas stockings since we don't have a fireplace! https://www.etsy.com/listing/244801883/christmas-stocking-holders-set-of-4:

Those stockings just waiting for Santa to fill them really took my eye … and my mantel is a nod to those yummy wooden hook plates.  The images are from Neat and Tangled (Elves & Their Shelf), stamped and coloured with Zigs … with some gel pen doodling for the patterns on the stockings.  The sentiment is from Winnie & Walter (In Bloom: Victoria’s Very Merry Flowers with Lydia Evans) and the dotted frame was embossed with a Lawn Fawn border die.  I used a Versamark pen to colour in the stocking tops and heat embossed them with Hero Arts White Puff EP.  Want to see all that fluffiness …

What takes your attention in our Home Sweet Home photo … the traditional Christmas colours, those patterns, the white on wood designs, that hint of rustic … or something else?  Whichever way you’re inspired, we’d love to see what you create in our gallery!  Our winner, as chosen by the DT, will receive a £15 gift voucher from our lovely sponsor, Uniko (thanks, Bev!), and will have the chance to guest design with us in a future challenge.  All the details are over at the Time Out blog … along with a whole host of enticing ideas from our fabulous DT and from our awesomely talented Guest Designer (and ex teamie), Sarah from Funky Fossil Designs.  If you haven’t come across Sarah’s delicious creations, do go over for a visit and enjoy her brilliantly crisp, CAS and inspiring cards … and even if you have, why not pop over and say hello … you’ll have a fabulous time!

Wonderfully delightful card, Anita. I really like your take on the stockings. Look at all the detail. Very fun and festive. I like your take on the inspiration photo! 🙂

Now I know what you meant in your message, Anita!!! How apropos is this???
Well you’ve used a darling little stamp – it brings me back to happy days of childhood – with 9 home-made stockings hung from our mantle!
What a darling card, mon amie! LOve the puffy, fluffy stocking tops!
Christmas cards are now all made, and sent!! [yours sealed with an extra kiss for a quick travel!] A little casual playtime is just what I need today!
[now where have I put that fluffy embossing powder? ;]

I love your take on the inspirational photo Anita! That photo is so beautiful and I can see why your eye was drawn to the stockings, they are beautiful and yours are too! I wish I had a mantel to display stockings on, I love mantels and fireplaces so much. You have achieved the “rustic” look in my eye, which I so love the rustic look anyway. Those stockings are so fun and festive and I love how you made the “cuff” all “fuzzy” looking. Well done! Hugs, Brenda

  4. Bobby

Those stocking are darling, Anita. Something I would hang on my fireplace – if I had a fireplace. I need to get some of that Puff ep. You’re the second person I’ve seen use it and it looks like fun. Better than my Snowmarker pen that’s not at all white and runs all over the place.

Oh dear, you have captured the essence of the inspiration photo perfectly. My favorite parts are the sentiment and all that doodle-y detail you added. Of course, being a designing professional didn’t hinder you at all. Always a pleasure to see where your mind goes with these challenges. Joyeux Noel, my precious friend.

  6. Nonni

This is CAS perfection, Anita! I absolutely love this one layer design, the stamps you used look amazing (what a perfect set for this inspiration photo!) and I love your coloring -especially the doodling. Great work! Thanks for joining us at Less Is More!

  7. Kara Lynne

Wonderful row of Christmas stockings, Anita! I love the placement at the lower part of the card – it’s a great design element. That embossing fluff is so fun too!

Mille bises xx

Gorgeous festive card Anita, love the white puff on the stockings, not heard of that before so must check it out! Cathy x

I so love this row of cute stockings, Anita! They are a perfect take on the inspiration photo and brilliantly CAS as always 🙂 It is great to be back at Time Out for a guest turn…..although I am struggling with a bad dose of flu at the moment so am behind on coming to visit!

Oh, my! I love this card, Anita, and I’m sorry that I absolutely missed it while making my cards and getting so far behind with my visits! I just saw it showcased on Less Is More!! I always feel like being showcased there is such an honor and your’s is certainly well-deserved! This card screams Happy Christmas in an adorable and well-executed way!! (I totally didn’t get your last signoff, haha, so to save you wracking your brain this time of year, I will end with simply LYAMYMA!) Happy Holiday Hugs and Love! Darnell

My apologies, Anita…it seems that this post never appeared in my email ~
Your little stockings are so sweet, and I love how you added texture to the top of each one! I also love your doodling…so clever! Sending you my best wishes for a very Merry Christmas!!!

  16. jmhave44

Wonderfully CAS and so festive with the traditional bright colors of the season. I think you’ve aced the inspiration photo just perfectly. Merry Christmas, and all the best in 2018. TFS & Hugs

  17. Cornelia (fun stamping)

Awesome card with all those little stockings! Thank you so much for your wonderful Christmas card – such a beauty! I had to laugh about your little insert. Those bureaucrats – they really have nothing better to do. But if you think about what is going on in my country I would prefer this 100 times over what the current government is doing to the US. One major nightmare after the other. It never seems to end and only get worse. There is something seriously wrong here. So keep that in mind every time you have to add your new little street name. You could be in the US and have to watch the dismantling of democracy and destruction of any social network there is. And there was not much to start out here in the first place. Human worth here is counted out in money. A sad state of affairs. I could go on here for several pages, but I will spare you my rant…. Happy Holidays, Anita and than you so much for your kindness. Hugs, Cornelia

  18. Jill Vickers

CAS perfection – I absolutely adore the little stockings hanging on the mantle -and the texture of the puffy embossing powder must be phenomenal in real life! Simply great card!

  19. cmayne

How charming your stockings, hung with care, on the mantle! Puffy snow? I need to check that out, as well as the set containing this fabulous sentiment! I can see using that with reindeer images I have! LOVE this!
