Twofer Card Challenge #1

Hello … bonjour!  I’m delighted, excited and thrilled to be here today … extending to you a very warm welcome to the launch of the brand new, spick and span, unique Twofer Card Challenge, conceived by the lovely Darnell!  You may already have seen the announcement post a few weeks ago, though for those who haven’t … the idea of the challenge is to make two different cards … for two different occasions … using the same stamps and/or dies … based on a word prompt.  This month’s prompt is …

… and here’s where I went with my Twofer …

Both my cards are CAS in style … the main image on them is the feather (from Waltzing Mouse Stamps, sadly no longer operating) … and that’s where the similarity ends!   Here’s a closer look at each one, showing how they’re different …

For this first one, I used a wonky stitched panel (MFT), masked and stamped the images so they snuggle together, added a heart to the centre of each one and stamped the sentiment (from Avery Elle).  To finish off, I added some Spectrum Noir sparkle to the hearts, coated them with Glossy Accents … and popped the panel up on craft foam on the card base.  Not too girlie, not too manly … fine for an anniversary card!  Shimmer and shine anyone?

My Twofer …

Here, I made the feather images into ornaments for a Christmas card.  They and their strings were heat embossed in silver, with the centres and little hangers heat embossed in blue.  The sentiment (SSS) was die cut from silver foil paper and adhered flat to the card base … and I added a strip of silver sparkle washi and one of heat embossed blue to the edge.

Voilà … two distinctly different cards for two distinctly different occasions with the same stamp!

So … how would you like to play along with us in our inaugural challenge … we’d love it if you did!  Why not let your imagination go to work with ‘Feathers’ … stretch those creative muscles … and make two distinctly different cards … for two distinctly different occasions … with the same stamps/dies?   All the information you need, including timescales, guidelines, rules and FAQs … along with a whole heap of glorious inspiration from the fantastic DT … is over at the Twofer blog … it’s just a click away!  Can’t wait to see you in our gallery!

My anniversary card is heading to …

Your are so clever with your designs Anita!! What a great way to stretch your feather image by using it in two completely different ways. Tickles my fancy, Anita!!! Both absolutely adorable! There are several Waltzing Mouse stamp sets I wish I could get my hands on… but I have a wonderful NBUS from Shirley’s Bee Knees that are dying to be used!! Couldn’t have been better timing for this Twofer Challenge! xx

Such a creative way to convey two very different meanings from this one sweet image! I love how the two feathers are nestled together and sparkle with love. Those ornaments are so elegant in blue and silver and perfectly balanced on your card!

How is it possible that by using the same feather stamp and a CAS style you can create two very different cards? One a lovely anniversary card and the other a very cool Christmas card! Turning the feathers into ornaments was simply brilliant!
I am so very thrilled to be on the team with you, Anita!

Your choice of stamp image for both of your cards is brilliant, Anita. This feather image looks just as gorgeous as an “ornament”, or a pretty image, as both your cards prove! Love the CAS designs – so classy!

What a great start to this challenge. I say you knocked this one out of the park. Both cards are beautiful. I love how you used the leaf stamp as ornaments. SO clever. I also really like how you cut the sentiment in the silver paper. It has such a distinct, elegant look to it! Your cards show how fun this challenge is going to be. Thanks so much for sharing! 🙂 Hugs!

…and CAS perfection done by the incredibly lovely and talented Anita of France. Golly, you really kicked off this challenge off with a great big bang. All that creamy white space makes my eye focus on that sweet feather that you used so effectively. The anniversary card is sweet but the Christmas card is brilliant. Would never have thought of using a feather as an ornament. WOW!

Those are the prettiest little feathers! The open space leaves room for interpretation and brilliant uses such as those demonstrated in your cards. Very clever and beautiful, and I love the CAS-ness of both!

Thanks so much for playing along with us at the Watercooler Wednesday Occasions Challenge this week Anita and sharing your Two’fer cards. Both totally amazing and creative in that you’ve managed to totally change them up in each of your CASs. Your joy and zest for stamping and sharing truly comes alive in this post. I love the Anniversary card you prepared for our challenge. The addition of Glossy Accents and glimmer to the hearts totally stole mine. Awesome!

Beautiful cards, Anita, and what a clever way to show off the images giving two completely different meanings to them. That Anniversary card is simply charming. With just those two images and the sentiment you’ve created a wonderfully clean and simple card. Love the wonky stitching. Thanks so much for joining our Watercooler Wednesday Challenge this week.
