Hello … bonjour! We have a fabulous new challenge starting today at Time Out … this fortnight we have a theme … Hobbies … with the optional twist of making a one layer card. I chose not to twist this time around … and made this delicate little number …
Are you wondering what hobby my card illustrates? Have a guess … got it yet? If you came up with lace making you’re spot on … or even crochet would do it. I don’t do either, though did dabble in the latter many years ago! I sponged a panel of Bristol card stock with three different distress inks, did a little splattering over the top and left it to dry. My doily die cut is from Waffle Flower … one of a number given to me by my lovely, non blogging, card making friend Judith last summer (she comes for a playdate every year while visiting family in the area) … isn’t it pretty? I trimmed off the edge and adhered it over the blended area of my panel, leaving the outer couple of centimetres free to turn up a little. The ‘Thanks’ is from SSS … die cut from vellum and black … hung slightly over the edge of the doily, with the supplementary sentiment embossed in white on a slender black strip. I added a single ink-sponged heart (from Winnie & Walter), covered it with Spectrum Noir sparkle … and topped it and the die cut ‘Thanks’ with Glossy Accents, before attaching the panel to my card base.
How creative will you be with our Hobbies theme … and will you use our optional twist? It was only when I started looking through my stash that the idea of lace making came to me … till then the ideas well was dry! Why not check out your stamps and dies and see if they prompt an idea or two … we’d love to see what you make in our gallery! This fortnight, we’re sponsored by CAS-ual Fridays (thanks, Michele!), who are offering a $20 GC to a random twister … and as usual, our overall winner, as voted for by the DT, will be invited to guest design with us in a future challenge. All the details are over at the Time Out blog … along with heaps of inspiration from our brilliant DT … and from our talented Guest Designer, Ashwini from Experiments With Card Making Etc. Why not pop over and have a visit with Ashwini … you’ll have a fabulous time exploring all the wonderful, fun, bright, happy cards on display … and you can leave her some love while you’re there!

Hello again. That is soooo pretty and yes I do remember it. Wait until you see some of the goodies I’ll bring with me this year x
Happy Gal-entines day, Anita!! Your gorgeous card, and die-cut delight immediately brought tatted lace to mind – both my mum, and grandmother made lace at one time – though I wouldn’t have a clue where to even begin! Let me end, however, by saying ‘well done!’
=] xo
This is so very pretty Anita, love the subtle coloured background behind the lacy look!
I thought of crochet right away, Anita, because I have a friend who does beautiful lacy doilies like this. The fabulously inked background really shows it off.
What a pretty card!! I LOVE the doily and the soft blue you used!
What a clever idea for the hobby challenge! So delicate and beautiful!
Absolutely beautiful my friend! I do crochet… but the bulky wool type… my South – African friend (also called Anita!) can do beautiful lace crochet like this and I am the lucky owner of one of her art pieces!
Hugs
♥
This really is so delicate and pretty. I couldn’t see you doing this hobby….more like knocking down walls!! I adore how you turned up the edge sligtly-great idea and the perfect touch x
Such a delicate doily die cut and such pretty blended colours behind it. Always love your attention to detail with that cute heart, the tiny sentiment strip and the glossy accents. Such a fun idea of the lace making x Beautiful card and thank you for the inspiration x
Oh my, that is one pretty, lacy doily. I really like how you offset it from the center and the inking behind it that really shows off how pretty it is. Wonderful sentiment and love the sweet little heart, too! Thanks so much for sharing this delight, Anita!
Delicate and beautiful. Would you believe I had that doily in my basket yesterday but then took it out. It’s pretty expensive here in Europe…
Yipee, I got it right away! I never got into that hobby, but I really admire it! Your delicate lace die is gorgeous and the soft color makes it stand out beautifully!
What a beautiful card Anita! I love the color and love that medallion you used. I was gonna guess “tatting” or crocheting. I guess tatting is similar to lace making. lol Hugs, Brenda
I thought immediately of tatting, fabulous card ANita.
I was wondering what hobby you were representing when I first saw your card – I couldn’t guess so I laughed when I read your write-up – it is so perfect! Your card is perfection, as always, and I absolutely love the creativity!

BEAUTIFUL CAS card! Love this WF die and how you used it! So glad that you join the fun over Simon Says Stamp Wednesday “Add a Die Cut” Challenge! Awesome details and design! Super work!
For a minute I really thought that your other hobby was lace making, hehe!!! (I thought that the challenge was to make a card of ones own hobbies…) Either way, your card is real eye candy with the softly sponged background for this pretty and delicate die! So, so beautiful!
We’ll see if I find the time to play in this round… sure hope so, it’s a fun one!
This is absolutey GORGEOUS Anita. That die cut is so elegant and the inking beneath it looks fantastic. The sentiment is beautifully done and placed. I love ti.
Oh Anita, aka birthday girl, what a lovely and delicate card it certainly looks like lace. I would not have guessed you did lace work but it makes sense as your cards are so feminine and soft. Hope you had a great weekend of celebrating. Send some rain to Southern California. Hugs, Barb.
That die and the delicate sponging behind it are so beautiful! Lovely card!
So pretty! Soft and elegant. Thanks for joining us at Happy Little Stampers!
Gorgeous lacy card, Anita! I always fancied having a go at tatting, but then I met stamping, and the rest is history. Hope you had a lovely birthday!
Beautiful design to how off that gorgeous intricate doily die. How special to receive that from a friend. The sponged teal is so beautiful and fresh looking with the white background and die-cut. xx
What a simply elegant CAS design Anita. I love it!
Thanks for sharing with us at ATSM.
What a beautiful and delicate die cut and cad! That doily is beautiful and shows up so well with that beautiful background Thank you for your continued support and love each time on my blog, I don’t event deserve it.
That was an odd link
Your card is so pretty. Love that beautiful delicate die, and it looks so pretty over your sponged background.
Long time no comment! A CAS beauty Anita – such a clever way of interpreting the hobbies theme. I’ve not had time to join in this week but as my hobby is drinking a good glass of bubbles, it would probably have to feature a wine glass or two. The die cut is so pretty and delicate and the soft inking underneath really compliments it! Anything else would probably have looked too heavy
hm, I thought your hobby is card making…..you don’t really have time for more with that….at least I don’t. Although I used to knit a lot when I was younger and I still LOVE to read real books, photography, hiking and biking. But for me its mostly card making. Can I just row in a card???? YOurs is awesome with that delicate lacy doily and the soft sponging in the background! The black thanks provides contrast and balance. Wonderful, as always!
My apologies, Anita…somehow I missed this beautiful card! Your doily is so delicate and lovely, and I love how you applied your soft ink blending to peek through the openings! The perfect CAS design, too! Thanks so much for playing along with us at Addicted to CAS! We always enjoy seeing your creations in the gallery!
