Hello … bonjour! Welcome to June’s Twofer Card Challenge … this month, our theme will open up all kinds of possibilities for your cards … it’s …
… and here’s where my imagination took me …
The stamp that appears on both cards here is the tall tree from Simon Says Stamp’s One With Nature set … used conventionally on the first and unconventionally on the second. Let’s start with a closer look at how it’s expected to be seen …
… yep, as a tree … or rather a trio of trees. A one layer Christmas card with the trees heat embossed in silver and the backgrounds offset stamped in a contemporary colour palette. The miniscule stars were cut from silver foil card with a Simon Says Stamp die and adhered to the branches … they almost twinkle like Christmas lights! The sentiment is from Neat & Tangled, also embossed in silver … and I added some cross stitch detailing each side with a Lawn Fawn border die.
My twofer …
… spot the tree? This time, for my fun birthday card, I turned the tree (and it’s accompanying images in the set) into a school of tropical fish. The images were white heat embossed … and I added the tails using a versamark pen so they could also be white embossed. Everything was coloured with Zigs, I stamped a sentiment from Simply Graphic (‘it’s your day’), added googly eyes/an enamel accent eye to the fish … and finished off with some Glossy Accent bubbles.
Voilà … my two distinctly different designs … for two distinctly different occasions … using the same stamp!
Where will our ‘Tree’ prompt take you this time around? We’d love to see you in our gallery with your two distinctly different cards … for two distinctly different occasions … using the same stamps or dies! All the details you need are over at the Twofer blog … along with plenty of delicious ideas from the DT to spark your imagination. We’re delighted to have the winner of our April challenge with us this month … welcome to Maria from Swim, Bike, Run and Stamp! Wow! Two simply stunning cards … the second cardwith the fishes is an inspiring design, such a brilliant idea.
So creative and such fun Anita. The colours on the Christmas card are so pretty and what patience to add the ‘twinkling’ little stars, a very beautiful card. The fish card is a fun and such a creative way to use the stamps….amazing, contemporary and I love it. Spotted the tiny eye lashes on one of the fishes, so cute. Anita, a master class on how to use the tree stamps in totally different ways and totally different occasions. Thank you for the fabulous inspiration x
So creative! Those little fishies are ADORABLE!!!!

Fabulous cards Anita, I love the Christmas trees and what a brilliant idea to turn them on their side as fish! So clever and so effective. Love the bright colours too, Cathy x
Such a fun unconventional use of those trees, Anita! I happen to have that set, and will attempt to store this idea in my brain… it won’t be hard, because it’s a brilliant idea!
Two darling cards – and one for the Christmas stash – bonus! xx

Look at you getting all jiggy with your trees to make that spectacular school of fish! I had a hard time tearing my eyes from all the cool details! I love how you used offset nontraditional colors on your Christmas card and I can’t believe you adhered all those weensy stars!! Both designs are brilliant, literally and figuratively and I love them both, Anita!! LYAMYMA…TTYS! Hugs, Darnell xxoo
Thought the Christmas card was the “star” (get it?) of the show until I took a really good look at those fish. Once I stopped giggling with delight over all the character you gave them, I was able to enjoy how the brilliant brain of yours came up with this rendering. Once again, your genius has left me gob-smacked. Amazing talent and creativity that you’ve fed into both these cards.
You certainly rocked this with your beautiful Christmas card and of course, making that tree look like a fish. Great looking fish I might add too!
Pure genius!!!! I was wondering what the next theme would be… gotta play along – can’t miss any one of them…the fish are brilliant, they clearly win over the trees…..
Oh my goodness, you are so clever, Anita! I love how you flipped the trees and added googly eyes to create those darling fishes! I also love how you created your contemporary Christmas card…it’s just perfect! Thanks so much for inspiring me to play along…I can’t wait to ink up my new tree stamps 🙂
You clever gal you Anita! I am loving these cards and how differently you used these stamps! The one layer Christmas card is beautiful and yes, I can see the twinkle of lights from those stars. So beautiful! But it is those tropical fish that blow me away! The tree’s make wonderful fish and I love how you have colored them so brightly making them tropical looking. Yes, you are one clever gal my friend! Hugs, Brenda
Anita, your imagination has no boundaries, I love how you used this stamp set to create your amazing and beautiful cards.
The embossed trees with their offset foliage are lovely and your little fishies simply adorable, the colors are so beautiful and soft and I simply adore the their “bubbles”.
