A New Challenge At Time Out – #115 – Food And Drink

Hello … bonjour!  Welcome to our first Time Out Challenge of August, where we have a theme for you to play with … it’s Food And Drink … with the optional twist of making a one layer card. I went for an almost-twist this time around …

Time OutIt’s been wonderfully and deliciously hot with us for weeks and weeks … so we’ve been keeping hydrated with plenty of fresh, chilled drinks.  That’s what prompted me to go all zesty and lemonade-y with my card.  I did some Distress Ink splashing onto a base card created with watercolour paper from Ranger … Squeezed Lemonade as the first and second layer … and a touch of Mustard Seed over the top.  The lemonade glass (TAWS, no longer operating) and the sentiment (Simply Graphic … ‘a sunny thought’) were stamped and heat embossed onto the patch of zingy colour, I coloured the straw and lemon seeds with Sakura gel pens, went round the rind with a Zig marker to make the colour deeper … and added Spectrum Noir Shimmer and Glossy Accents to the lemonade.  The effect puts me in mind of condensation on the outside of the glass … mmm … doesn’t that look mouthwatering!  The strip of washi along the edge of the card ties in with the straw … and that’s what makes this card an almost one layer!  Here’s a closer view of that condensation …

How will you interpret our Food And Drink theme … and will you use our optional twist?  We’d love to see what you create in our gallery.  This fortnight, we’re sponsored by Birch Press Design … there’ll be a random winner of a $20 gift certificate for the store, drawn from those who use the optional twist.  As usual, our overall winner, as voted for by the DT, will be invited to guest design with us in a future challenge.  All the details are over at the Time Out blog … along with heaps of inspiration from our brilliant DT … and from our talented Guest Designer, Susie from Created 4 Creativity.  Why not pop over and have a visit with Susie … you’ll have a splendid time exploring all the inspiration on display … and you can always say hello while you’re there!

I’m playing along at …

This is fantastic, Anita. Love all thos yellows and black – the strip on the left really brings it all together. What a brilliant idea to use Glossy Accents to create the look of condensation. It certainly looks icy cold and ready to refresh! A wonderful card in every way! xx

oh yummy, I love the fresh feel to this and there you go again with that glossy accents….I need to pop over and have some….gin with the lemonade and you can show me how you work such wonders with the glossy accents x

You had me with the lemony drink…adult beverage or not, it looks delicious. So refreshing…and I could definitely use it right about now. So difficult to keep hydrated during these very hot days and the forest fires nearby create such awful air that drinking a cool, wet one would make my day. Love the stripes and the glossiness of your frosted glass. Makes it even more luscious.

Such a delicious card and drink! I love the real glass look you achieved, Anita ! We have some kind of lemon drink almost everyday even in winter. I am glad you are enjoying your warm weather….. I would like ours to cool down. Thank you for the most beautiful card sweet friend!

Cool as a cucumber … which is my new favorite lemonade, btw, using cucumber simple syrup, and a sprig of mint – yummy!
LOve the diagonal stripes that perfectly coordinate with that jazzy little straw! a delicious card, my sweet friend!

Bises and Hugs ! xx

This has been the a summer of lemonade for me since it has been so hot here as well so your card made me smile right away. I love how fresh that lemonade looks – especially paired with those gorgeous black and white stripes!

It’s been sunny and hot where I live, too, and a nice cold glass of lemonade would really hit the spot! Your card is so refreshing. Love the B&W stripes on the side. Thanks for joining us at Watercooler Wednesday.

Well know, this is looking very refreshing Anita! I love this sweet/tart almost one layer card. lol The glass does indeed look like condensation is on the glass, love the background and the washi. It goes so well with the straw so how could you NOT use it?! A very tempting CAS card my friend! Hugs, Brenda

  16. Shona Chambers

This card captures Summertime so perfectly, I can’t wait to be drinking lemonade in the sun (currently inside with the fire on and its drizzling outside….).

  17. Claire A

Looks good enought to drink Anita – but I expect it needs a touch of gin with it! The added sparkle really does make it look like there’s liquid inside the glass!

Thanks so much for taking the time to comment, I really appreciate it!
