Hello … bonjour! Our new challenge at Time Out has just gone live … and you might notice something a little different about it. We have a wonderful, sparkly, shiny new look! Do pop over to the Time Out blog and check it out … we love it … and think you’re going to love it too! We have a Home Sweet Home picture to inspire you this fortnight (it’s a little further down) … here’s my take on it … and here’s our wonderfully festive inspiration …
My attention was taken by the non traditional Christmas colour palette of bright red, grey and white … and the pattern on the bedding … yum! I stamped and white heat embossed the Simon Kaleidoscope Centre Cut Background onto an Ellen Hutson Oyster Grey card base … then started colouring with coloured pencils. While the pencils are from a very ordinary generic set, I did have the chance to play with Kara‘s Prismacolors at the Lake House … and get a heap of guidance from the expert herself … so I put all I learned to work here. You might have noticed that the die cut sentiment (also from Simon) is adhered over an uncoloured, adhered-over-the-top circle of heat embossed card. That’s because my colouring skills didn’t extend to the centre cut part of the pattern … that is, I messed up! I kept the cover up without any colour so that the Glossy Accented sentiment would pop against it … here it is in a little more detail so you can see all that shine …
What is it that gets your imagination going in our photo … the colour combo, the texture, those Christmassy images, that snow white cat … or something else completely? Whichever way you’re inspired, we’d love to see what you create in our gallery! Our winner, as chosen by the DT, will receive a $20 gc from our wonderful sponsor, Altenew and will have the chance to guest design with us in a future challenge. All the details are over at the Time Out blog … along with a heap of gorgeous cards from our fabulous DT and from our talented Guest Designer, Mugdha from Craftomania. Do pop over for a visit with Mugdha … and enjoy the wonderful selection of delicious cards on display over there!

wow I thought this was designer paper. What amazing colouring and must have taken hours. It is perfection and I love all the gloss in the centre. A wonderful card to start our new look!
So good to see that we all took something different from the photo…Great pattern and super that you learnt new things for colouring…we never stop learning 🙂 If you didn’t tell I would have thought the centerpiece had to be like this….It looks so good! Hugs, Gerrina
Oh my goodness, Anita, this is gorgeous! And if you don’t mind, I would love to copy this idea. I just love how striking and beautiful this is. And as they say, there are no mistakes in cardmaking, only opportunities to embellish. And you did so absolutely beautifully. Thank you SO much for sharing. Hugs!
The inspiration photo is sooo pretty and your card is a GORGEOUS translation! From the choice of stamp (now officially added to my wish list), to your impressive colouring, to the shimmery sentiment (no mistakes made…design innovation that was obviously ‘meant to be’)…positively swoon-inducing! Love this! A stunning card and a wonderful new look at the TO blog…double delight this frosty morning!
hugs~c

Really stunning your coloring on grey cardstock! Maybe it was a blessing that the coloring on the inside circle didn’t come out because the sentiment pops much more on the uncolored background! Fabulous card!
Have a great weekend,
Susanne
Fantastic tke on the inspiration, Anita. I love that you saw that pattern in the bedspread! I also love the genius way you covered up your little faux pas! It looks stellar!

Your wonderful pencil coloring really makes the design pop, Anita, and what a great job on adding the GA to the skinny sentiment lines. Thanks for sharing your card with us at Happy Little Stampers Christmas.
Wow. What an eyecatcher! And I’m glad the center didn’t cooperate – I think your muted solution topped with that glossy sentiment is fabulous.
WOW! Beautiful card. A great modern design
