Hello … bonjour! Welcome to our first Twofer Card Challenge of 2019! This month, we have a fabulous prompt that will have ideas popping all over your creative brain … it’s …
… it might even be happening already! Here are my feathered friends …
My common image here is that happy little waving penguin, from Arctic Pals by Essentials By Ellen, used conventionally on both cards … isn’t he a cutie? Actually, all the stamps I used are from the same set, designed by Julie Ebersole … I love it! Here’s a closer look at the first …
Here, my penguin is saying a heap of hello’s to his pal just across the ice. They were stamped onto a white card panel, coloured with alcohol markers and grounded with a touch of grey pencil. The eyes on both were altered using white and black gel pens so that they look as though they’re glancing at one another … and I added Glossy Accents (carefully!) to the eyes and the beaks. The cracked ice background (that’s how I see it!) is from Winnie and Walter (Multifaceted Cutaway) … cut from grey card and adhered flat to the base. I doodled a dotted frame around the penguin panel … and popped the panel up on craft foam over the ice.
My twofer penguin …
… sending Happy Brrrthday wishes from behind his iceberg. This little scene was built up on a white card panel using stamping and masking … I added a touch of colour to the penguin’s beak … and some shading and frosting to the icebergs (you can see the shimmer better in the first photo if you go in close). The finished panel was adhered flat to a card base that had been sponged along the edges to match the icebergs.
Voilà … my two distinctly different designs … for two distinctly different occasions … using the same stamp!
How might you interpret ‘Birds’? We’d love to see you in our gallery with your two takes on it! All the details you need are over at the Twofer blog … along with plenty of fine, feathery ideas from the the DT to spark your imagination. We’re delighted to have two Guest Designers with us this month … a warm welcome to Izzy from Izzyscrap and Sonja from Old Punca. Do go and have a visit with both Izzy and Sonja … not only will you find their brilliant Twofer cards, you’ll also enjoy a whole heap of wonderful inspiration to meander through … and you can always leave them some love while you’re there!

Thanks so much for coming by, your visits and comments are always a joy! Anita 🙂
Your cards are just adorable…so much personality! I especially like the waving penguin. Lovely CAS layout. Thanks for joining us at Watercooler Wednesday.
Oh goodness, Anita, these are fabulous! I love how you added the detail to their eyes on the first card so they are looking at each other. I also really like the use of the cover die for the cracked ice. So clever! That second card makes me grin and giggle. Adore how he is popping out to say Happy Birthday. Very clever and very fun! Thanks so much for sharing! 🙂
So darn cute, those little guys. Love the sentiments. And using the geometric die cut to hint at icebergs and igloos is brilliant!
I’ve had a love affair with penguins this Christmas Season, Anita… I’d forgotten how much I love these Arctic Pals!!! Certainly fun for any occasion… love the brrrrrthday sentiment!! xx
=]
These are both fantastic, Anita! That waving penguin is so endearing, it makes me want to wave back! I love the sense of cracked ice from your die cut panel on your first card, and the perfect placement of everything on your birrthday card!
Oh those penguins are so darling. Right now I am in love with all kinds of wintery critters and your cards just fit that bill nicely.
Love your sweet and adorable penguins…so much fun!
I’ve been eyeing this set for quite some time now. And after seeing how you’ve used them here, I can hear them calling my name even louder! These are two wonderful cards, filled with sweet details like the hand dotting around that panel on your first one, and all the geometric patterns on both cards!! You’ve given me enough smiles to last all day! Those are absolutely fabulous penguins. EH does make some awesome stamps, and you use them in such fun ways. Love these!! Miss you tons, my sweetie pie!! xoxo
You have truly brought your penguin pals to life in these two works of card art, Anita! In the first, I love how you altered and glossified their eyes so they are looking at each other! And in both, the wave action draws the eye and achieves movement! I agree with you about the background looking like broken ice! But my favorite is your second design with that sweetie pie poking out from behind the beautifully constructed and shimmery iceberg to wave hello! Both cards tell a story, which is the ultimate compliment!! LYAMYMA! NKOC! Hugs, Darnell
I’m completely terrified of birds, but your penguins here…no fear whatsoever! I mean, who can resist that little wing-wave! Fabulous faceted ice background on the first; pretty sparkly icebergs on the second! Cuteness galore!
Speaking of cuteness: we welcomed a new puppy – Lily, a miniature schnauzer – into our lives on Dec. 22…and she is an absolute gem! Apologies if my commenting is a bit slow….puppy has alllll my attention! We’re both completely smitten with her *grin*
hugs~c
Oh, those eyes! Your cleverness is a delight to mine, Anita! Just look at all the fun in these two CAS designs. I admire your skill in conveying so much with so little. Lots of personality in those penguins! The die cut certainly does suggest cracked ice. Fantastic!
As cold as it is here I don’t know how penguins can like icebergs, Anita, but they are so cute and right at home waving at us from them.
Oh my gosh, I LOVE how you played with these darling penguins, Anita! You’re right…the background does look like broken ice…how clever you are to select them for your cards! Super cute CAS cards, my friend…I love them both! Hugs, Barb xx
I really like your cute penguins! Both cards make me smile. A great masking on the second card and amazing designs on both cards. 🙂
These are both such darling cards. A really fun way to use those penguins. Thanks so much for playing along at CASology this week.
Awwwwww…could your little penguin pals be any sweeter Anita?! I love how you made their eyes looking at each other in the 1st card, and that 2nd one waving his birrrrrthday “hi” is just to darn cute!! Lots of FABULOUS details on both my friend!! :0)
A double does of cuteness Anita! I love that little guy peeking out from behind the ice-berg to wave!
Aw, so perfect for this month, Anita! Love your adorable penguins! Each card is such fun. Love the iceberg and your wonderful sentiments!
What a pair of fun cards, Anita! I adore your penguin peeking around the ice! Thanks for sharing with us at CASology this week!
Your waving penguin is ADORABLE! LOVE these designs Anita. Two cards that just make me smile! xx
Super cards, adore the background geometric cutaway and love how you incorporates this into the second card x
What a good way of using this pinguin twice! Both cards are beautifully CAS and I like theway you put the one on the 2nd card in such a great scene! Hugs, Gerrina
Bises
Such adorable cards, both of them and so very creative. Love your attention to detail with changing the Penguins eyes and such wonderful scene making on the second card. Great use of the die cutaway for the cracked ice. Fabulous and fun inspiration Anita …….thank you X
Your penguins are sweet on both cards, and I love the play on “ice” — fantastic thinking out of the box again!
These are both fabulous Anita! My fave is that cheeky little fella peeking out from behind the icebergs (not that I’d have favourites wink)!
Bonjour Anita – long time no commenting! Your penguins are just adorable – I love how you made them ‘look’ at each other by altering their eye. So clever! And the iceberg is just gorgeous. Is that W and W as well?
Once, again, you have expertly shown why you are the perfect choice for the two-fers design team! Both cards are absolutely fabulous!!
2 adorable cards Anita, love these little penguins and you have really brought them to life with your fabulous colouring and designs, I’m glad that you reminded me about penguins for the birds challenge! Cathy x
Hi Anita, hope all is well with you. Love these cheeky penguins especial the second one with the little guy peeping out from the iceberg. The shading and frosting gives it the lovely icy feel brrr.
Marie
These cards are such happy cards and make me smile. The designs with cracked ice and iceberg are awesome and well thought out. Having those two look at each other is very cool and waving is adorable. Great cards, Anita.
So cute, those little guys! Like the kind of icebergy feel of the die cut background! Genius! I have my Twofer cards ready to show!
How cute are those little penguins! I also love the geometric background and icebergs!

Hi sweet friend, sorry its been so long. I love the penguins for your icy designs . Hope you are happy and well, I am so blessed to have your friendship.
That has to be the cutest little penguin I’ve ever seen! So sweet how is peeking out from behind the “iceberg”. And that wave – well, just precious. Thanks for joining us at Watercooler Wednesday.
I totally love penguins and these are heart throbs! Your glaciers are super cool too. thanks for sharing at CASology this week!
Congratulations on your HR win at CASology for your glacier encased penguin…so cute. Is he asking for assistance or just waving. (Just kidding.)
Sorry I’m just now getting here Anita, I have been having issues with your posts going to another folder and signing in to leave a comment. I didn’t even know I had a wordpress password. lol But hopefully I got the password thing down and should be good to go with that! Now to get your posts to come to the right folder in my email. I am loving your feathered friends Anita! They are just the cutest. Loving the background die you have used, it really does look like cracked ice and to me, icebergs. Your penguins waving are too cute, love all the “hello, hi” sentiments on this one. The scene on the second on is equally as cute. Makes for one cute birthday card. Hugs, Brenda
Today is a bitterly cold day where I live and the icy cold winds are blowing, so these cards just added to the chill factor for me, BUT they’re definitely CUTE and much easier to deal with than the weather outside! I love the ice factor on both cards – even if it does make me shiver a little bit more! LOL Great twofer!
I so wish I had done this challenge!! Your cards are FABULOUS! I love how you used the icebergs in the fun two ways with the adorable penguins. So, so CUTE!!!
