A New Challenge At Time Out – #129 – Retro

Hello … bonjour … and a Happy Saint Valentine’s Day to you!  It was a delight to see you all the other day after my playtime (and thanks so much for all your warm and encouraging words 🙂 ) … and it’s lovely to be back so soon!  At Time Out this fortnight, we have a theme for you … it’s a style one … Retro … with an optional twist of making your card one layer.  Here’s what I did …

Retro really isn’t a style I’ve explored very much, so I resorted to Pinterest for ideas … and loved the 1960s colours and icons that were there … this design is a blend of lots of them.  These little retro telephones are from Avery Elle (thanks, Darnell!) … stamped into a grid pattern, courtesy of Misti … coated with Spectrum Noir Sparkle … and Rainbow Drop’d in the centre of each dial.  The simple scripty sentiment is from Hero Arts.  Here’s a close up of the shimmer and shine … and those delicious pastel-y colours …

How will you interpret Retro … and will you use our optional one layer twist?  There are so many ways to ignite your creative imagination with this theme … if, like me, you’re not sure which way to go, why not check out Pinterest as I did.  We’d love to see what you create in our gallery.  This fortnight, we’re sponsored by Funky Fossil Designs (thanks, Sarah!) … our winner, as voted for by the DT, will receive three stencils of their choice from the store … and as usual, will be invited to guest design with us in a future challenge.  Details are over at the Time Out blog … along with heaps of inspiration from our brilliant DT … and from our talented Guest Designer, Esther from Shoregirl’s Creations.  Why not pop over for a visit with Esther … there are gorgeous projects to explore and enjoy … and you can always say hello while you’re there!

My little telephones are going to be ringing their bells at …

These are so adorable. I love the colours and how you stamped them so softy. And yet again I love the sparkle! I am old enough to remember we had phones like this-wish we had had a purple one!

So decognizeble! I too didn’t know wich side to go…had so many idea’s…But with the stencil I got forced into using another one and that made how mine turned out…
I really like your take; won’t be that long before we don’t see those phones we grew up with any more! So, great and beautiful retro design! Hugs, Gerrina

My daughter and I had a conversation about these ‘retro’ phones the other day, Anita! We both wished we still had a rotary dial!
LOve yours in all these lovely pastel colors … I’ll put my thinking cap on – that, too, is a bit retro!

Those colors are so up my alley that I squealed when I saw them. And that itty-bitty phone is so unlike the cell phone of today that they make my heart happy. Such a sweet, happy card, perfect for any occasion.

Those pastel phones are so much fun! Maybe those phones are obsolete, but in your sparkly colors, they just may make a comeback! I love the grid design, it’s perfect for a retro flare!

This is so adorable! I love those little telephones, and the retro colors you used. Though I ended up in another direction, I too went to Pinterest to research retro colors. Fun! Love the sparkle and the touch of the shiny dot in the center of each phone! Just a wonderful card for the challenge, Anita! Hugs, S.

I have an old princess phone with push buttons that I had to tuck in a closet when Lizzy was in kindergarten. She dialed 911 just before grandpa took her to school one day! But I do remember those rotary phones. Something special about the sound them made when you dialed them. Your card is a delight, and brings all sorts of memories back for all sorts of us. Love those pastels and the shimmer and shine you’ve added. Missing you tons, and wishing you an upcoming HB. xoxo

Oh my gosh! Your little rainbow phones are absolutely adorable, especially with their sparkly bits! So incredibly sweet! Now I want a retro phone ‘in real life’…so much more character than the ones we have now-a-days! Love this!

I love this design with the pretty pastel colours – and you a genius for adding the perfect little finishing touches, like the little drops in the centre of each phone – and all that shimmer. Wonderful card!
