Twofer Card Challenge #15 – Zoo Animals

Hello … bonjour!  Our fun April challenge has just launched at Twofer … this month we’re inviting Zoo Animals to play with us …

… and I thought bears would be a good choice (nothing to do with what is … or isn’t … living in my stash!) …

A cosy warm birthday card … and a couple of chums saying hello … with that big waving bear from MFT as my common image (stamped and sent for me to play with a while ago by the lovely Cat … thanks my friend!).  Here’s a closer look at each one …

Here, I did a little doodling on Monsieur Bear and turned his scarf into a roll neck sweater … then coloured him with alcohol markers and trimmed him out, cutting off the scarf tails at the same time.  He chose the rainbow cuffs, collar and welt himself … without any cable knit, he felt the creamy Aran colour needed a little extra pizazz … very stylish!  I softly sponged the centre of an MFT wonky stitched panel (Lake House stash) with Tumbled Glass Distress Ink … cut a white embossed MFT sentiment (also from Cat) into a banner … and adhered the banner to the panel with foam tape.  Monsieur Bear was also popped up … his left arm has a double layer of tape under it to add some waving action dimension!  I attached the finished panel to a base card that had been sponged round the edges with Distress Ink.

My twofer is another conventional presentation …

Here, bear appears in his original polar, scarfed guise, accompanied by a little friend … both watercoloured with Zigs and trimmed out.  Their snowy background is a piece of patterned paper from my stash (yep, really, I used PP!), the stacked up die cut is from Winnie & Walter and the supplementary sentiments are from MFT (via Cat).  Little bear is popped up on some very slender foam dots while big bear is on chunkier ones to emphasise the sense of depth and distance between them.

How would you like to join us in the gallery at Twofer this month … we’d love to see which zoo animal(s) you choose as your common image.  You can find out everything you need to know in the rules and FAQs over at the Twofer blog.  It’s worth the trip … there are plenty of wonderfully inspiring ideas from our brilliant DT … and from our talented Guest Designer, Susan from Card Maker’s Garret.  Do go and have a visit with Susan … you’ll find so much deliciousness to enjoy!

Sorry, not much commenting from me I’m afraid Anita – all those computer issues! I love these MFT bears and still contemplating buying them. Beautifully coloured – I don’t think I’ve ever seen one coloured as a brown bear. I think the second one is my favourite…they look fab against the big hello die cut!

Your bear cards are too cute, Anita! Love the brights on the first, and they look perfect with the big hello on the 2nd! Thank you for joining us at the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge!

The sweater that adorns the birthday bear is so perfect for a festive card, Anita. I’ll have to remember that trick. The dimension and size of the other bears really emphasizes the ‘wish you were here’ part of the sentiment, making it a spectacular card design.

Clever use of these very fun and friendly bears, Anita! You’re a very good doodler. I’d never have guessed your birthday bear didn’t come with his roll neck sweater. You gave him quite a different look! The depth on your hello card is great. Love the bold sentiment and the delicate dots. So cute!

I kept looking at your birthday bear trying to put my finger on what was different about this image and think your sweater is amazing! I will be filing this idea into my CAS(E) pile. Both cards are fabulous!

First, before I forget, great job on using the pp, Anita!! I’ve enjoyed reading through all the steps you took to make these two seemingly quick and delightful designs. You spent quite some time thinking through every element to get your well-balanced compositions and your popped elements at just the right levels! And deciding to turn birthday bear’s scarf into a sweater was genius!! Fabulous cards!! LYAMYMA! SGYOMT! Hugs, Darnell

Everyone needs a big friendly bear to say, Hi, to and this one is simply adorable. Both as a polar and a brown cuddly bear. Excellent coloring, as usual, but the scarves and sweater add so much to the welcoming feeling you get when you see the bears. Although, I must say, wouldn’t want to meet any of them in their habitat…maybe the cub…maybe not.

Stop the world! Patterned paper?! Just kidding…It looks great on your beary sweet ‘hello’ card. I will echo the sentiment, though you may not want to be here tonight as the wind is howling, and it’s snowing and raining out. Go figure. It’s April in Wisconsin. Anyhoo…It’s a fabulous card, and I’m loving that paper! Your birthday card is wonderful. Love that you gave him a sweater with rainbow ribbing! You’re so creative! Hope your day is going well and sending hugs. xoxoxo

I am beaming over here, Anita! Look at you getting all cute and clever with those bears! I am in love with that sweater you gave Monsieur! Now, I probably wouldn’t don it today, but when I was twelve, it would’ve gotten worn out! I LOVE the texture on his fur and the beautiful shading on the polar pals as well! Such a great design the way you have them with the word die!

You had such fun, and shared it all with us, Anita! Thank you! I’ve always LOved those bears… and the one in his birthday suit, I mean sweater, is colored so perfectly! Darling duo… we visited the Chattanooga Zoo on our latest road trip! Now let me think… do I have any Zoo animals? xx

Continuing to have issues with comments ‘sticking’ but hopefully this one does (although I’ve said the same thing with several previous ones with no luck! I’ll cross fingers as I type this time *grin*). Your bears are beyond adorable! How dapper Mr. Bear in his turtle-neck sweater; very stylish! And the two sporting scarves are simply delightful! I want to give them big ol’ bear hugs!! Love these oodles!

You are such a clever gal Anita! I love how you turned this bear’s scarf into a sweater!!!! I wish my brain thought like that. lol Mine just doesn’t think period. lol I love both of these cards. These bears are too cute and I love how you used them on these two very different cards. Unfortunately I had to miss this challenge (the first ever Twofer I missed), but it coincided with my vacation and there was no way I could squeeze that one in…I am back now for a short while and then it’s vacation again, yeahhhh!!!
