Twofer Card Challenge #30 – Sun/Moon

Hello … bonjour!  We have a squeaky clean new challenge for you at Twofer that’s just started … this month we’re asking you to be creative with …

I chose to use a happy, fun, sun image on my cards … one from Simon Says Stamp

My first card features a central, big bold sentiment where the sun takes the place of the dot above the i … a simple way to say a happy hello.  On the birthday card, my design takes up diagonally opposite corners, with the sun shining down onto an oversized corner rainbow.  How about a look at each one individually …

I created the shimmery sunshine goodness in the background by ombré sponging Distress Inks directly onto the card base … and spraying it liberally with shimmer spritz.  The front white panel was cut with a Winnie & Walter (sadly NLIB) bold sentiment … and I stamped the sun (and his chatty looking face) over the dot on the i.  The panel was popped up on craft foam onto the base, the centre of the sun was popped up again over that … and the supplementary sunshine sentiment (from Avery Elle) was slotted snuggly into the word aperture.  I finished off with a coat of Glossy Accents on the centre of the sun.

I don’t have a rainbow die, so cut this one using a curved Simon Says Stamp die and lots of coloured card scraps … added them to a breezy embossed background panel (thanks, Judith!) … and adhered the panel flat to the card base.  The white embossed sentiment is from MFT.  I ombré stamped and trimmed out the sunshine … and popped him up in the swirly sky.  He found himself dazzled by all the colours in the rainbow, so needed his shiny (Glossy Accented) shades … they suit don’t they!

How about joining us with a favourite sun/moon image of your own?  Just use the same stamps, dies and/or stencils for your two distinctly different designs, for two different occasions … we’d love to see you (and them) in our gallery!  Details about how to play, including the rules and FAQs, are over at the Twofer blog … along with heaps of celestial inspiration from the DT!  We’re delighted to have two super talented Guest Designers joining us this month … Mac from The Sweetest of Peas … and Linda from Scrappin, Stampin & Singin … welcome ladies!  Do go over and have a visit with both these super talented crafters … you’ll be so inspired … and you can always say hello while you’re there!

My sunny hi is joining in at …

Well, I’m up now! Even if the sun hasn’t completely risen here yet, I have your Two beautiful, fun suns to rise to on this side of the pond, Anita! I adore that great big Hi – still missing W&W! It has been far too long since I’ve used my own. But this dude with the sunglasses just makes me smile – what’s not to love about a rainbow? Clever way of making one without a rainbow die!

And a happy “hi” to you too! So lovely to hear your voice the other day. You always have a way of making me smile. Like this card, for instance…it will make its recipient smile for sure!! Yellow is such a happy color, and with the simmer you’ve added, well, it’s extra smily! That birthday card is pretty darn fabulous! That background swirly panel is fabulous behind your pretty rainbow! Did I tell you I saw a white rainbow over the lake a while back. Seriously. I’ll have to post a pic…Anyway, I love all the time, effort and love that went into this card. It’s really very sweet. Great twofer, my friend. Missing you. xoxo

Did you know yellow is my favorite color??? Yep, so both your sunshiny yellow cards totally made me smile this morning Anita!! Absolutely LOVE your “hi” card using the sun for the dot in the “i”…cute, cute, CUTE!!! And your rainbow card just couldn’t be any sweeter my friend…and how clever to make your rainbow from a circle die! (Going to have to remember that one as I don’t have any rainbow dies either!) Haven’t seen much of you this Summer, so hope that means you’re busy, busy, busy having all kinds of FUN?!! Stay safe and well!! Hugs. :0)

Dotting your ‘ I ‘ with the sun was a brilliant idea! I have this die and will have to remember that. And your brilliance continues with your self made rainbow! What a great way to stretch your dies!

Your two cards make me smile from ear to ear, just like that sun is smiling! I LOVE that you used the sun to dot the “i”. It’s just such a bold and wonderful card, especially the way you inked it and added the word “sunshine” in there! Your curved die rainbow is just genius! I love all of those colors and how you arranged them. Perfect stitched background sky for your sun and rainbow too!

Oh boy, aren’t these a pair of beauties. The cleverness of your giant sentiment card made be wonder, “why have I never thought of that” since I own the die. I’ll bet is shines and shimmers just like the sun, too. And the rainbow card with the swirly background. That one is going into my Have-to-do-that-someday-soon pile. What a joy to behold.

Too bad there aren’t any HAPPY or CHEERFUL or the like challenges because these two fun and festive cards would be perfect, Anita! It’s late in the day here and I was getting peckish and droopy, but not any more, lol! Thank you for that! I have forgotten that fun giant HI die and I love the way you have presented it and snuggled that wee sediment in there! And who doesn’t love a rainbow or a sun wearing glossified sunglasses? Here we get BOTH on one design!! And I love your creative way of making your rainbow! LYAMYESD! I hope your heat moves on soon! Take care! Hugs, Darnell

I love how you used the sun for a tittle on the first one and how you added the fabulous rainbow on your 2nd card…WOW! Great idea to add Glossy Accents to each one, too…I’ll bet they look amazing in person! Good job combining all of these challenges, my friend 🙂 Barb xx

Hey Anita! Stopping by to say … HI! What a coincidence, right?! Wonderful, beautiful cards! I just love your “sunshine” in the base of the i. So sad that winnie and walter went out of business. I really loved all of their dies. This “hi” die is so nice an large. Thanks for the reminder! Hope you are doing well. The boys just started elearning and so far seem to be OK, although I wonder how much they can really be learning over a screen when they’re not as accountable as in person. We shall see! Anyway, take care. Thinking of you sweet friend!! : ) xo

Hello Anita, long time no comment! What a great way to use the sun as the dot over the i. And the smaller sentiment on the larger one is absolutely inspired! Love the rainbow – after all that effort I would have been worried about stuffing it up with the white embossed greeting!
