Twofer Card Challenge #36 – Your Choice

Hello … bonjour … I’m delighted to see you! As it’s the tenth of the month, our fun new challenge has just started at Twofer … and it’s just a little different than usual. This time around, instead of giving you a prompt, we’re inviting you to choose one of your own …

This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is March%2B2021.jpg

I went with one of my favourite themes … ‘Blossoms’ …

… and created a bold, vibrant friendship card … and a soft, subtle hugs card, using Altenew’s Rosie Posy stamp as my common image. Here’s a closer look at each one.

The striped background is from Uniko … it was stamped over a circular mask to leave space for the central cluster of Rennie Mackintosh style blossoms. The blooms were watercoloured with Zigs and a waterbrush … and I added some detailing with a white gel pen. The Mama Elephant sentiment was stamped onto a die cut banner, which was popped up on foam dots under the focal image. Eyecatching in a CAS way!

In contrast, my second card has a dreamy, spring-like feel to it …

It’s still clean … it’s one layer … and unusually for me, it features a light grey card base. That lovely Rosie Posy blossom cluster was stamped and white heat embossed multiple times in a diagonal swoosh across the card. I sponged white pigment ink over the flowers (allowing it to go over the edges to create a halo effect) … and once it was dry, added a couple of different yellows in the centres. The sentiment was also white heat embossed … it’s from Papertrey. Soft Pantone colours anyone?

How about choosing your own prompt … to make two distinctly different designs … for two different occasions … using the same stamps, dies and/or stencils? We’d love to see you (and your cards) in our gallery!  All the details, rules and FAQs are over at the Twofer blog … together with heaps of delicious inspiration from the DT (who have each chosen a different prompt).  We’re delighted to have two fabulous Guest Designers joining us … Nancy from Scandinancy Creates … and Klara from My Favourite Day … welcome ladies!  If you haven’t met these talented artists yet, do go and enjoy a wander through their blogs … you’ll be so inspired!  Even if you are familiar with their work, why not pop along anyway … you can always say hello while you’re there!

My bold blossom is heading to …

Super cards Anita and so different. Adore the first-so dramatic-you know I always love black and white and purple! And like you added some white touches. The contrast with the second shows how very creative you are-it is so soft and the flowers just hug the sentiment-I love working with a grey base and this lovely yellow works so well. Sending hugs xx

These are both lovely roses cards, my dear friend. Stripes. Love ’em, and love the way you’ve masked off the center to pop those fun flowers so your eyes go right to them. And I’ve got that Lionel Richie song playing in my head now, lol! Awesome colors!! The yellow and gray remind me of my mom. She loved to dress me in those colors, and I came to absolutely love them together. Your card brings happy to my heart! Gorgeous Twofer! Sending hugs, sweet friend. Stay safe. xo

What a delightful contrast between your two cards this month Anita! I love the bold and graphic look of your first card with the lovely purple blooms, and really LOVE the softer 2nd card with all those beautiful buttercup yellow blooms (have I ever mentioned that yellow is my FAVORITE color??? Hahaha!!) that are cascading across your gray background!! FABULOUS cards my friend!! Hope you are doing well and staying safe. Lots of hugs!! :0)

Aaaah, yes, Spring is so close, I can taste it in the air. Blossoms are the ideal choice this time of year and both these cards celebrate them perfectly. The bold stripes are perfect surrounding your purplish rose…what a wonderful layout. But, being a yellow girl and so into the Pantone colors of 2021, your second card delights all my creative synapses. I literally tingled when I first saw it.

I’ve enjoyed admiring your cards, Anita. Fantastic twofer! You’ve picked a wonderful blossom motive. Friendship card is awesome with grey stripes and bold vibrant colors of the blossom. I like CAS design. The second card is amazing in gentle color combination and fantastic design. The one layer card is for me always a special challenge and far away of being easy and quick to create. 🙂 So I’m admiring this kind of crafting very much.

Your blossoms designs are both so enchanting, Anita! I’m a sucker for stripes so you had me on your first design right from the get go! I do love that stylized image both center stage and as a partial border! I also love the wonderful movement and halo effect you achieved on your second design and the yellow and white look great with the light gray background! LYAMYMLF! WLACWIFB! Hope all is well! Your blossoms look so pretty on both cards! I just love the soft yellow flowers on the kraft background with those big white hugs! The purple blooms look so different yet so pretty with the striped background. Now that I’ve read the sentiment, I’ll have that song in my head like an earworm for the rest of the day – but it’s a great song! Beautiful twofer cards!

How great to see the black & white stripes as a major design element rather than a border, I love it! And your gorgeous colouring. The twofer card is indeed very different but equally beautiful. Thanks for joining us at Happy little Stampers for the Watercolour Challenge!

Oh I love how you’ve sponged the pigment around those blooms on the second card Anita – it gives it a really soft look. Very pretty! And now I want that striped frame stamp from Uniko. Thank you for enabling me. Again. LOL

Two awesome cards – I am especially liking the one with the black and white stripes! What a striking frame it creates for those vibrant purple flowers! And the second card is just a soft beauty! Looks like you are not spending much time on card lately….Are you too busy or are you just taking a break? For me its just being too busy. Somehow I never manage to lighten my workload……I need to retire!!!!!
