Twofer Card Challenge #10 – Harvest

Hello … bonjour!  Welcome to our October Twofer Card Challenge … where our theme this month will have your creative imagination kicking up into seasonal gear … it’s …

As I write this post, the grape harvest (la vendange) is well under way in our region of France … so what could be more fitting than vines for my harvest themed cards?

My stamp in common here is the vine leaves … part of a set from Woodware (which I think is retired now).   Here’s a closer look …

For my ‘juste un mot’ (just a note) one layer card, the vineyard scene was stamped and white heat embossed onto a watercolour base card.  I coloured it with Zigs, stamped the sentiment (Simply Graphic) and hand drew the border around it.  So like our countryside, albeit a little more whimsical!

My Twofer …

For my Joyeux Anniversaire (Happy Birthday) card, I created a random background for my grape cluster by repeatedly stamping the names of well known wines direct onto the base card (sadly my favourite is not among them!).  The grapes were stamped and masked … and I added the vine leaves from the landscape by doing some (very!) careful inking.  The images were coloured with alcohol markers … and had white pen highlights and glossy accents added to the grapes.  The sentiment is from Simply Graphic.  I didn’t add bling as this will be going to a wine loving male friend … don’t think sparkle (unless it’s in a glass!) would be his sort of thing.  Want to take a look at the individual glossy grapes … mmm … luscious …

Where will our ‘Harvest’ prompt take you this month?  Your mind is probably working on it already … we’d love to see what you make in our gallery!  All the details are over at the Twofer blog … along with heaps of fabulous inspiration from our brilliant DT … it’s just a click away!  We’re delighted to have two Guest Designers with us … Linby from Crafty Linby and Liz from Crafty Sunflower.  Do go and have a visit with Linby and Liz … you can check out their delicious Twofer cards to start with … and afterwards enjoy a delightful meander through all the other creative projects on display!

A Few Florals!

Hello … bonjour!  Hope you’re having a good summer or winter, depending where you are … and a happy weekend.  I have three cards to share today … and I’m delighted to be blogging them before the deadlines pass on challenges I’d like to link up with!  First into the spotlight,  a fresh card that turned out to be especially QACAS (quick and clean and simple in Darnellese) …

I won a GC from Altenew recently via Therese at Lost in Paper (thanks, Therese!) … and this one layer card was made with one of the sets I got with it.   I used the rock and roll technique to stamp the flower heads in two blues … it added a little dimension and some extra definition to the edges.  The flower centres were done in the darker of the two blues and I added the grey leaves … before finishing with the shiny heat embossed sentiment and a touch of stickles in the middle of each bloom. Forget me nots?  They look a bit like that to my eyes!

I’m playing along with (badges are at the bottom of the post) …

Altenew – Inspiration/Colours (below)

Inkspirational – An Under 10 Minute Card … it was close, 9’51 as I added the last Stickles!

Simon Says Stamp Wednesday – Anything Goes

Next up, some rainbow-y goodness …

A watercoloured rainbow panel with a Poppy Stamps bloom die cut from it and inset into it, adhered flat to a white mat with a WPlus9 sentiment stamped along the bottom edge.  I scored lines onto the card base before mounting the finished panel onto it on craft foam and adding a couple of tiny black pearls to the flower centres.

Happy Little Stampers Dies – Anything Goes

Poppy Stamps – Birthday Party

Seize The Birthday – Stripes … the scored ones

Simon Says Stamp Wednesday – Anything Goes

Finally, a bright, summery, colourful little number …

Another one layer card, this time stamp layered with the second set I got with my Altenew GC.  The sentiment is from Winnie and Walter and the supplementary greeting is from Simon Says Stamp.  I added some black gel pen dots to the flower centres and a fine black line along the crease edge to tie them in to the black greeting.

These florals are going to be blooming at (badges are at the bottom of the post) …

Fusion – Inspiration (below) … all those lovely colours at that summer picnic

Seize The Birthday – No Option … unless a line counts as a stripe!

That’s it for me … I’ll be back on Thursday with a little something for the new challenge starting then at Time Out.  In the meantime, thanks so much for coming by, your visits and comments are always a joy!  Anita 🙂

A New Challenge At Time Out – #110 – Home Sweet Home

Hello … bonjour!  Our new challenge has just started at Time Out … this time round, we have a vibrant, funky, retro style Home Sweet Home photograph to inspire you to join us … it’s a little further down … here’s my take on it …

Time Out… and here’s that bright, colourful inspiration …

I focussed on the florals in the wallpaper … selected the yellows, oranges, pinks and greens for my stamped and masked Essentials By Ellen bouquet … and chose the white lampshade as the base for my colours, rather than the taupe on the walls.  My Winnie & Walter die cut and ombré sponged sentiment mimics that vivid pink chair, with the supplementary Essentials by Ellen ‘birthday’ picking up the frame underneath it.  I finished off with some white gel pen doodling on the light pink and orange flowers … and a scattering of Lucy’s Little Gems.  Voilà … fresh and clean with just a smidge of sparkle!

What sets your imagination in motion in our Home Sweet Home photo … the bold colours, those cool shapes, maybe that framed picture or the wooden floor … or something else completely?  Whichever way you’re inspired, we’d love to see what you create in our gallery!  Our winner, as chosen by the DT, will receive a $20 gc from our fabulous sponsor, Happy Little Stampers (thanks, Kylie!) and will have the chance to guest design with us in a future challenge.  All the details are over at the Time Out blog … along with a heap of brilliant ideas from our fabulous DT and from our super talented Guest Designer, Ksenija from Sweet Kobylkin.  Ksenija’s blog is chock full of the most delicious cards … you probably know that already (and if you don’t, what a wonderful discovery you’ve made!) … why not pop over and see her, explore and say hello while you’re there … you’ll have a fantastic time!

I’m playing along at …

Twofer Card Challenge #4 – Pets

Hello … bonjour … and welcome to our wonderful April Twofer Card Challenge!  We have a fun theme for you this month … and I’m guessing you’ll have a few stamps and/or dies in your stash that you can choose from to make your cards … it’s …

Here’s how I was inspired …

For those of you who might be wondering … no, we do not have a pig as a pet … though we do know someone in the next village who has two!  Hence my choice of these fun Simon Says Stamp party pigs, the common image on my Twofer.  How about a closer look at each one …    In his original form, this little guy is holding a big balloon and sporting a party hat … though I wanted to focus on his wide outstretched hands … paws … trotters, so I trimmed him out.  He was coloured with alcohol markers, coated with a thick layer of Glossy Accents and had some googly eyes added.  He wanted to wear a T shirt with ‘pig’ on it … though as he couldn’t find one that suited his rather demanding tastes, he decided to simply wear the word … he’s a bit of a rebel … and loves a fun sentiment!  The base card was embossed several times with a Lawn Fawn stitched border … I die cut the Winnie & Walter hugs (to go with those welcoming trotters) in silver striped PP and black craft foam and adhered them over the stitching … and Monsieur Cochon just hopped on next to the sentiment, popped up on foam dots (with a double layer of foam under his trotters).  I know he’d love you to see a close up of his big friendly smile …

My Twofer …

Here, Monsieur Cochon is appearing with a few friends … leaping out from behind a wall for a surprise birthday party.  They’ve kept their fun hats on this time, though got a little over excited and managed to burst all their balloons … so I masked them off (flat balloons just don’t have the same festive feel as full round ones!).  The wall is a black edged, MFT stamped, popped up sentiment panel … and the pigs’ party outfits are courtesy of some coloured pencils, a white gel pen, Spectrum Noir shimmer and a touch of Stickles.  You can see the excitement in their Enamel Accent-ed eyes here …

Voilà … my two distinctly different designs … for two distinctly different occasions … using the same stamp!  I went conventional with the use of my stamp this time around (my pig stayed a pig on each card) … and you can too, if that’s what you’d like to do.  You can also stretch your stamp or die in an unexpected way (as I hope you’ve seen in previous Twofer posts), although that’s not a requirement to play along.  If you haven’t already seen the last winners post (here), the lovely Darnell has decided to have two winner’s spots … one for conventional and one for  unconventional use of your stamp or die … how perfect is that … this is Twofer after all!

So … do you have a pet you’d like to depict on your cards this month … or will you need to put your thinking cap on and ‘borrow’ one as I did?  We’d love to see your two distinctly different designs … for two distinctly different occasions … using the same stamps or dies … in our gallery!  All the information you need, including timescales, guidelines, rules and FAQs, as well as a whole heap of fantastic inspiration from the brilliant DT … is over at the Twofer blog … it’s just a click away!   We’re delighted to have a talented Guest Designer with us this time around … welcome to Pia from Pia’s Papir Og Perler … our winner from challenge 2.  Do pop over for a visit with Pia, you’ll find so much fun and fabulous inspiration over at her blog … and you can leave some love for her while you’re there!

Guest Designing at Inkspirational!

Hello … bonjour!  I’m thrilled and honoured to be Guest Designing with the fabulous and talented DT at Inkspirational today … thank you, Marina and all the team for the invitation!  For the next fortnight, there’s a cool, stylish photo inspiration to get your creative juices going (it’s below) … here’s my take on it …

… and here’s the inspiration …

My eye was taken with the blue, grey, black colour palette, by the glow around that cascade of rain and by the tall/long images (man in black, what I took to be flag poles each side of him, and window apertures in the background building).  I cut an MFT peek a boo window out of a white card panel, adhered a slip of printed vellum (thanks, Darnell!) behind it and foam mounted the panel onto a grey card base.  The tall stylised leaves are from Simply Graphic (thanks, Maria!) … coloured with alcohol markers and sponged over with Hickory Smoke Distress Ink, attached just where the stems meet the vellum.  I white heat embossed a WPlus9 sentiment onto a strip of black card stock and popped it up on foam tape across the stems and window … and finished off with a few enamel accent dots.  I was hoping that the light shining on the rain-like print on the vellum would mimic that glowing rain cascade … and it did, sort of … don’t you just love it when a design comes together!  Here’s a detail shot …

What voyage of discovery will your imagination take with this inspiration?  Wherever it takes you, we’d love to see what you create.  All the details are over at the Inkspirational blog, along with a whole heap of delicious ideas from the Design Team … hope to see you in the gallery!

Twofer Card Challenge #3 – Blossoms

Hello … bonjour!  Our fabulous third Twofer Card Challenge starts today … well, right this moment actually!  You all pushed the boundaries again with your cards last month, thank you … we had a gallery full of hearts in all their various (and sometimes most unexpected) guises … what inventive players you are!  So, March has arrived … and in less than two weeks, we’ll be into spring here in the northern hemisphere … how about a word prompt that fits nicely into the season …

Here’s where I went with it …

My common stamp here is from CAS-ual Fridays‘ Mon Ami set … to my eyes, it looks like a lotus blossom … how could I not use it?  How about a closer look at each card …

Here, I used the stamp more or less as it was intended … though with a little artistic licence … bet this is the first time you’ve seen lotus blossom on long stems (taken from a Concord & 9th set) … unless they’re stylised tulips that is!  One layer, heaps of crisp white space, some no line ombré watercolouring, a birthday sentiment from MFT nestled into the curve of one of the blossoms, and a sprinkling of sequins … a joy to my CAS loving heart!

My Twofer …

A little busier … and a smidge outside my comfort zone!  Coloured card stock (eek!), a white heat embossed pattern against the minty green (recognise the lotus?), some perfect pearl painting inside the petals, a black heat embossed thank you sentiment (from Concord & 9th) and a scattering of gems.  The pattern was straightforward to create … I marked the centre of the panel, made sure the central dot of one of the blossoms was over it, and worked outwards from there, stamping and heat embossing as I went.  I used an acrylic block rather than MISTI … it was easier to look through it to line up the overlapping central dots and ensure the petal edges were touching.  Seems to me there’s something a little groovy and/or 60s retro about it … may try something similar again!

Voilà … my two distinctly different designs … for two distinctly different occasions … using the same stamp!

So … what will your creative imagination do with ‘Blossoms’ this month?  We’d love to see your two distinctly different cards … for two distinctly different occasions … using the same stamps or dies … in our gallery!  All the information you need, including timescales, guidelines, rules and FAQs,  along with heaps of fantastic inspiration from the wonderful DT … is over at the Twofer blog … it’s just a click away!  We’re delighted too that we have a Guest Designer with us this time round … welcome to Verna from VA’s Creative Clutter, who was the winner of our inaugural Twofer Card Challenge!  Do go and have a visit with Verna … apart from her brilliant Twofer there, you’ll find loads of delicious cards to meander through and be inspired by!

A New Challenge At Time Out – #98 Home Sweet Home – Stockings Are Hung …

Hello … bonjour!  Our wonderful new challenge starts at Time Out this morning … this fortnight, we have a Home Sweet Home photo to inspire you that’s fresh and festive with a touch of rustic (below) … here’s where I went with it …

Time Out

… and here’s the scrumptious photo inspiration …

These were perfect for our family's Christmas stockings since we don't have a fireplace! https://www.etsy.com/listing/244801883/christmas-stocking-holders-set-of-4:

Those stockings just waiting for Santa to fill them really took my eye … and my mantel is a nod to those yummy wooden hook plates.  The images are from Neat and Tangled (Elves & Their Shelf), stamped and coloured with Zigs … with some gel pen doodling for the patterns on the stockings.  The sentiment is from Winnie & Walter (In Bloom: Victoria’s Very Merry Flowers with Lydia Evans) and the dotted frame was embossed with a Lawn Fawn border die.  I used a Versamark pen to colour in the stocking tops and heat embossed them with Hero Arts White Puff EP.  Want to see all that fluffiness …

What takes your attention in our Home Sweet Home photo … the traditional Christmas colours, those patterns, the white on wood designs, that hint of rustic … or something else?  Whichever way you’re inspired, we’d love to see what you create in our gallery!  Our winner, as chosen by the DT, will receive a £15 gift voucher from our lovely sponsor, Uniko (thanks, Bev!), and will have the chance to guest design with us in a future challenge.  All the details are over at the Time Out blog … along with a whole host of enticing ideas from our fabulous DT and from our awesomely talented Guest Designer (and ex teamie), Sarah from Funky Fossil Designs.  If you haven’t come across Sarah’s delicious creations, do go over for a visit and enjoy her brilliantly crisp, CAS and inspiring cards … and even if you have, why not pop over and say hello … you’ll have a fabulous time!
