A New Challenge at Time Out – #90 – Autumn Theme – With A Twist!

Hello … bonjour … hope your week has been going well!  We start a wonderful new challenge at  Time Out this morning … this fortnight we have a theme for you … Autumn, with an optional twist of speed stamping!  If you’d like to twist, gather up your supplies, make your card in 10 minutes time or less and let us know how long it took.  That’s what I did …

This one layer card, featuring leaves from Concord & 9th, took 8 minutes and 5 seconds to make … with the help of MISTI.  There are two colours on each leaf (one light along one edge, one medium along the other … they blend in the middle) and the veins were added with a darker shade from the same colour family.  To add a little autumnal glow, I overstamped the veins in Delicata gold as I went … and did the same with the sentiment.  Want to see the glimmery detail (you can see the variations in the colours better here too) …

Where will our theme take you?  Will you go with our speed stamping twist for your autumnal card … or would you like to take your time … it’s up to you.  Whichever way you choose, we’d love to see what you create in our gallery.  We’re sponsored this fortnight by Happy Little Stampers (thanks, Kylie!), who are offering a $15 GC to a random twister … a great reason to give speed stamping a try!  As usual, our overall winner, as voted for by the DT, will be invited to guest design with us in a future challenge.  All the details are over at the Time Out blog … along with heaps of delicious inspiration from our wonderful DT … and from our fabulously talented Guest Designer, Elaine, from Craft-E-Place.  If you haven’t seen Elaine’s lovely work before, do pay her a visit … her blog is chock full of yummy CAS creations!

A Little Monochrome … And Some Watercolouring

Hello … bonjour!  Hope your weekend has been a great one … and that you’ve had chance to spend some of it creating.  I had a bit of time to play … and have four cards to share … first up, something rather crisp and clean …

A panel stamped with Papertrey‘s Doodlie-Do flowers and leaves and coloured with Promarkers … all in various grey tones.  The sentiment is also from Papertrey, the happy was embossed, the birthday was die cut twice and stacked.  I might add some bling or shine to the panel … it seems a little naked as is!

I’m playing along at (all the badges are at the bottom) …

SSS Monday – Happy Birthday … congratulations to the SSSM team on seven fabulous years!

The Flower Challenge – Focus on Background Stamping

Next, something with a little more colour …

This is a panel from my Lake House stash (thanks to Ardyth I think) … masked/stamped with the Mondo Peony from Essentials By Ellen.  I watercoloured it with my Zigs, stamped a sentiment from Avery Elle, did a little Black Soot DI splattering, scattered on some Lucy’s Little Jewels and adhered it flat to a card base.

This is heading to (all the badges are at the bottom) …

Finally this evening, you’ve probably seen the Simply Graphic die delights that Maria has been showcasing … if not, go, right now … I’ll wait till you get back … they’re here, here and here.  Told ya … now, wasn’t that worth the detour?  So, I happened to mention in a comment that I share Maria’s love of this stylish company … and how the SG page in my wish book includes practically the whole line … and she promptly sent me a whole selection of delicious cuts.  Merci mille fois, encore, Maria!  This is the second card I’ve made with them (you’ll notice it has some similarities to one of those you’ve just seen over at Maria’s place) … not posted the first yet …

A panel of smooshed-with-Zigs watercolour paper, trimmed to size, acting as a bright backdrop for those swoonable SG abstract flowers.  The sentiment is from Winnie & Walter (I used a white gel pen for the ‘i’ as it fell perfectly over the stem) … and the frame is another of the goodies from my SG envelope (slightly reduced in size).

This little pretty is joining in the fun at (all the badges are at the bottom)  …

Time Out #88 – Inspired By Words – And Some Sunflowers

Hello … bonjour!  We have a fun and delightful new challenge starting at Time Out today.  This fortnight, we’re Inspired By Words … these from Roald Dahl … ‘If you have good thoughts, they will shine out of your face like sunbeams and you will always look lovely.’  I have two takes on it … here’s the first …

Time Out DT 88

Time OutWe’re surrounded by sunflowers as well as vines at the moment … the blooms always seem to shine like sunbeams … and they do look so lovely.  Our Inspired By Words quote put me in mind of them.  The sunshine-y flower head is made up of one stem and four flower cuts of a Ragged Daisy die from Poppy Stamps (thanks to my lovely friend, Judith, who brought it along for a play date!), adhered on foam tape to a piece of textured vellum and surrounded by a popped up frame.  The sentiment is from SSS, stacked on craft foam and adhered to the vellum.  I finished with a coat of Spectrum Noir shimmer on the leaves and flower.

I subsequently saw Loll’s video on watercolouring tissue paper (here … if you haven’t seen it, you really, really should … thanks Loll!), and was inspired to make a second sunflower card …

Time Out DT 88A

This time, I used artistic licence as the sunflower is white and it’s the background that’s full of glimmery sunbeams!  Do check out the video for details of how to create this amazing tissue paper effect … I just followed Loll’s clear guidance, trimmed the finished panel, attached the die cut bloom and added a few coats of Wink of Stella to the petals.  The WPlus9 sentiment was embossed onto a strip of white card, which was adhered to the panel.   A close up shows the texture and glimmer much better …

Time out DT 88A Detail

What will our wonderful quote inspire you to create?  You can use all or any of the words to get your imagination going … we’d love to see what you come up with!  All the details are over at the Time Out blog, along with heaps of ideas from our fabulous DT and from our talented Guest Designer, Toni from Frankie Helps Craft (who you don’t want to miss visiting … so much yumminess to see!).  Hope to see you in our gallery!

Time Out DT #79, Addicted to CAS #106, SSS Monday -13 March, SSS Wednesday – 15 March, SSS Work It Wednesday – February

Hello … bonjour!  What a wonderful gallery you created for us to admire and enjoy during our 3rd birthday celebrations at Time Out … and what lovely comments you left … thank you so much!  Do come by the Time Out blog next Wednesday to see if you are the winner of any of our fabulous prizes!  In the meantime, I’m hopping in with a sweet little number to entice you to play along with us this fortnight.  We have a CASE the Designer challenge this time round … our designer is the uber talented, super creative, out-of-the-box thinking Jenny from Crafting In The Country.  If you’ve never visited Jenny, you really need to … you’ll be more than wow’d by her awesome projects!  Her wonderful, whimsical card is below … here’s my take on it …

Time Outand here’s Jenny‘s little spring cutie …

My eye was drawn to the sponged background, the stitched panel and the delicious whimsical style … so that’s where I went with my card.  Serendipitously, Jennifer McGuire (in this video) prompted me to use masked inking to create a little scene.  I stamped one of the bunnies from Verve‘s Hip Hop Bunnies onto a piece of white card, coloured him with Promarkers, added a little doodling (gave him inner ears and a smile) and fussy cut him out.  The same bunny was stamped onto a Winnie & Walter die cut panel … and he was masked, as was the bottom portion of the panel, so that the Distress Ink grass could be sponged on (Twisted Citron, Mowed Lawn).  I kept the bunny mask in place, masked off the top portion of the panel, and softly blended some Tumbled Glass Distress Ink to create the sky.  Surgery was performed on the sentiment stamp (from the same Verve set) so the hi could be stamped below the supporting words in a different colour.  The fussy cut bunny was popped up on foam dots onto the panel, he had Spectrum Noir clear sparkle applied to his inner ears, nose and tummy … and Glossy Accents added to his nose.  He’d have been hopping if I’d had an action wobbler!  I doodled the grassy tufts and tiny daisies (coloured with a white gel pen and a yellow Promarker) onto the meadow … and sprinkled some sequins and a few dots of Glossy Accents to finish off.

Where will Jenny‘s card take your creative imagination … there’s so much delicious detailing to choose from … we’d love for you to play along!  This fortnight, we’re sponsored by Verve (thanks so much, Julee) … our overall winner (as voted for by the DT) will receive a Verve stamp set of their choice … and will also be invited to design with us in a future challenge.  There’s a special post from Julee over at the Verve blog … including a CASE of Jenny‘s card to inspire you.  All the details are over at Time Out, along with a whole heap of wonderful ideas from our fabulous DT … and from our amazingly talented Guest Designer, my lovely friend Isabelle from Izzy Scrap.   If you haven’t already dropped in on Isabelle, do go … enjoy all the gorgeousness … take a picnic, you’ll be a while!

My little bunny is hopping over to …

Addicted to CAS – Doodle … the bunny detailing and the grass/daisies in the meadow.

SSS Monday – Handmade Flowers … mine are hand doodled … hope that counts!

SSS Wednesday – Bit o’ Green … the meadow

SSSWIW – Use The Word/Colour Green … again, the meadow

Thanks so much for coming by, your visits and comments are always a joy!  Anita 🙂

Time Out DT #72, Addicted to CAS #102, CASology #227, The Flower Challenge #3

Hello … bonjour!  Long time no see!  It’s not that I haven’t been making cards … I have … lots of them, for Christmas.  That’s what’s kept me away from blogging over the past fortnight or so … and away from staying up to date with all your goings on too.  I’m here today to introduce you to our delicious new challenge at Time Out … this fortnight, our theme is CASE The Designer  … and the fabulous designer we’re CASEing is one of my fellow BABES … the amazingly talented Kim Heggins from Cupcakes, Cards & KimKim‘s delightful, whimsical card is below … here’s my take on it …

time-out-dt-72Time Out

and here’s Kim‘s inspiration …

You can see what took my eye can’t you??  I love Kim‘s card … as well as this Neat & Tangled set (that hasn’t seen ink for a while) … so was delighted to be inspired by the the colours and style.   I changed a few things … limiting the stamping to the bottom half of my card, keeping it one layer, and changing the orientation from portrait to landscape (to accommodate that lovely big MFT sentiment).  Oh, and there’s some WoS shimmer on the flower heads (of course!).

What captures your creative imagination in Kim‘s card … the bold colours, the whimsical style, the layout, all that glorious white space … or something else?  Whatever it is and however you’re inspired, we’d love it if you played along with us and linked up to our gallery!  All the details are over at the Time Out blog, along with loads of ideas from our wonderful DT, and from our talented Guest Designer, Deepti from Vishesh Collections (do go for a lovely wander … you’ll have such a fun time!).

I’m playing along at …

Addicted to CAS – Congratulations … ATCAS is celebrating their 4th birthday … congratulations to Kylie and the team!

CASology – Space … all that glorious white stuff!

The Flower Challenge – Use An Older Stamp, Die or Stencil … haven’t been card making long enough to have old, old stamps, but this is one of my more mature ones!

Hope all your Christmas card making is going along wonderfully … and that you’ll be coasting into the festive season with ease and calm!  Thanks so much for coming by, your visits and comments are always a joy!  Anita 🙂

Time Out DT #67, AAA Cards #74, Addicted to CAS #97, Less Is More #295, SSS Monday – 26 September, SSS Wednesday – 28 September

Hello … bonjour!  Welcome to a wonderful new challenge at Time Out, where this fortnight we’re helping to focus attention on Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  Our theme is Breast Cancer Awareness and/or Friendship … with the optional twist of using pink and/or embossing … here’s where I went with it …

time-out-dt-67Time Out

The CAS-ual Fridays flowers were stamped onto a watercolour card panel and heat embossed in silver.  I coloured the background with Zigs, drawing out the colour from around the flowers … and when the panel was dry, I masked the flower heads and added a few silver splatters.  The sentiment (also CAS-ual Fridays) was stamped and heat embossed onto a slip of vellum … which was then hand sewn onto a stitched scalloped frame with silver thread.  I popped the frame up on foam tape over the watercolour panel and adhered it all onto the card base on a piece of craft foam.  This is on it’s way to a friend who has had a tough time medically this year … it might even have arrived by now … hope it has before she sees this!

Our challenge this time round is being sponsored by CAS-ual Fridays.  Many of you will know of the fundraising and other fabulous work that Michele (owner and breast cancer survivor) is doing to raise awareness of the importance of early detection in fighting breast cancer … and of her Calling All Sistahs campaign and monthly blog posts reminding all of us to do our own self exams.  Michele will be offering the overall winner a $25 GC … and for a randomly drawn player who uses pink and embossing, there’ll be a prize package from the Calling All Sistahs collection.  All the details are over at the Time Out blog, along with heaps of inspiration from our fantastic DT and our delightful and super talented Guest Designer, Coni from Which Craft (who you really do need to visit for a whole heap of inspiration and deliciousness … take a picnic … or pyjama’s … you’ll be a while!).  Won’t you join us … we’d love to see you in the gallery!

Time Out DT #65 Mid Challenge Reminder, Addicted to CAS #96, SSS Monday – 5 September, SSS Wednesday – 7 September, SSS Work It Wednesday – August

Hello … bonjour!  I’m sharing my second card for our current fabulous challenge at Time Out (which still has almost a week to run), where we’re Inspired by Words with this quote … ‘Love the trees until their leaves fall off, then encourage them to try again next year’ (Chad Sugg).  Here’s this week’s take …

Time Out DT 65RTime OutI stamped and gold heat embossed the SSS trees and sentiment onto a panel of watercolour card stock, used Zigs to add the greens/oranges/browns down each trunk, and pulled the colour out with a waterbrush. Turned out to be one of those quick and wonderfully simple cards … though the splatter/no splatter, bling/no bling conversation with myself took rather longer (I’m guessing you can relate!).  The gold is deliciously shimmery IRL … I took another photo so could see it too …

Time Out DT 65R DetailHow will you be inspired by this quote?  Take any or all of the words to fuel your creative imagination … and then just play along with us!  This fortnight, we have a generous sponsor … Michele at CAS-ual Fridays is offering the winner (as voted for by the DT) a $25 GC!  All the details are over at the Time Out blog, along with heaps of inspiration from our splendid DT and our talented (and returning for the third time!) Guest Designer, Rema from Paper Panache … hope to see you in the gallery!
