A card came together tonight that was inspired by a few challenges … and as a couple are closing very shortly, I’m posting it quickly!
I stamped and white embossed the Annabelle Stamps lined border a few times onto textured card, trimmed it to an angled panel and watercoloured the spaces using a smooshed ink and water mix. Once it was dry, the panel was popped up on the textured card base on foam dots and I stamped and embossed the Avery Elle sentiment. IRL there’s loads of texture here (imagine running your fingers over all those embossed lines!) … it just wasn’t catchable with the camera.
I’m playing along with these challenges …
Addicted to CAS – Texture (where my lovely and well known friend, Darnell is GD)
Annabelle Stamps – Sketch
Colour Q – Bashful Blue, Night of Navy, Old Olive, Tangerine Tango
AEI♥U – Fathers’ Day/Masculine
Simon Says Stamp Wednesday – Anything Goes
Need to link up swiftly before doors close! Thanks so much for coming by, your visits and comments are always a joy! Anita 🙂
This is my first post for a fortnight … life just took on a … um, well … life of it’s own … and meant that card making and blogging needed to take a back seat. I’ve been doing my very best to keep up with goings on in the blogosphere, but haven’t been as frequent a visitor and commenter as usual. Sorry. Looking forward to resuming normal service (me … normal … hahahahaha!) with this …
So, can you guess it’s for CASology‘s Purple Cue Card?? I was also inspired by Keep It Simple‘s Square challenge and by the sketch at Annabelle Stamps this month. Just so as you know upfront, I’m not a great purple person … I appreciate what others do with it, but it’s not really a colour I reach for much … hence the challenge of it all.
Here, there’s a bit of experimentation going on … a colour washed background panel and the Annabelle flower silhouettes stamped numerous times in three different colours to see what that would do for perspective. The panel’s popped up on a square of purple vellum (why that’s in my stash I don’t know) that’s adhered to the card base and the Annabelle sentiment’s stamped with Memento’s Grape Jelly. It was going to be ‘dressed’ … however, after exhaustive test runs with gems, twine, pearls, sequins and every other small embellishment imaginable, that idea was abandoned … the sihouette panel was left to take the limelight … and I passed a loooooong time putting everything away again.
Thanks so much to everyone who visited and left me a comment on my last card … it warmed my heart! D’you know that after discussing the matter quite extensively, those little birds still couldn’t agree on a sentiment … so I simply wrote my message on the inside and sent them merrily on their way. I know they’ve arrived safely and are happily installed in their new home across the Atlantic. I’m hoping they’re behaving themselves … naturally.
I’m off to be inspired by what everyone else has been creating. Thanks so much for coming by, your visits and comments are always a joy! Anita 🙂
At One Layer Wednesday this week, Ardyth‘s set us a ‘Spice Girls’ challenge … no not the girl group, but a feminine OLC inspired by a spice, condiment or flavouring. This theme seemed to fit rather well with AnnaBelle Stamps‘ colour challenge to use Cocoa, Waterfall and Pumpkin … so I combined them …
For me, these colours are strong and spicy … and with a little artistic license, they could be saffron, thyme and cinnamon. I love the colour block look on the AS inspiration picture … although achieving that on a one layer card is pretty challenging at the best of times … without the right colour inks for spongeing, it nigh on impossible.
But I really wanted to do some colour blocking (d’you hear the pitter patter of a little foot stamping?) … and after some pondering and a quick Promarker check, I found some perfect colour matches. So the background panel was Promarkered, then overstamped with the flower branch (from AS Garden Silhouettes), which was embossed in white. The sentiment came from the same AS set and was embossed in cocoa/cinnamon. I wonder what the odds are of having that exact colour embossing powder in a supply that only includes four colours??
I’m off for a happy tour around the blogosphere to see what creative delights I can find. Thanks so much for coming by, your visits and comments are always such a joy! Anita 🙂
I’m starting today with a couple of big thank you’s. Firstly, to Meghan (DT CASology), for choosing Cinderella’s-life-changing-glass-slipper for an Honourable Mention last week … I was so chuffed and it brightened my whole day! Second, a big thank you to Andrea at Annabelle Stamps … I won a Lil Belle stamp set in last month’s blog hop and just received it this week … not only the stamp set, but metres and metres of gorgeous gingham ribbon too … all beautifully packaged and deliciously wrapped in tissue paper … it’s like having a birthday when it isn’t! If you haven’t come across Annabelle Stamps yet (yeh, right!), check them out to find fantastic quality, brilliant images and an amazingly talented and inspiring DT.
Now, onto my card … it’s a triple challenge one (Shirley, be proud!). At CASology the cue card is ‘Furry’. I can play along at Annabelle Stamps with my new goodies … there’s a ‘Favorite Sketch’ week and I chose an inverted ac155. Finally, I’m entering a second time at Simon Says Stamp, where ‘Anthing Goes’. Here’s my offering …
hairy furry little monster is from my gift set … stamped, coloured with Promarkers, trimmed out and popped up on dimensionals over his own ‘shadow’. His balloon is liberally covered with Glossy Accents to make it shine and he’s sporting a simple ‘smile’ t-shirt (the sentiment is part of the set). My expression was similar to this when I opened my goodies! Finally, the top corner was rounded to match the round balloon.
May be back later on with a little something … in the meantime, though, thanks so much for coming by, your visits and comments are a joy! Anita 🙂
