Muse #121, CAS(E) This Sketch #127, SSSM 8/6, SSSW 10/6

I’ve had some fun making a card this evening … well, when I say ‘a’ card, that’s not quite true … what I mean is there’s only one card to show you … the rest are keeping the paper bin very happy.  When you see the one that lived, you’ll wonder what took me … yep, me too … think Monsieur Mojo must’ve sneaked out and is off living it up somewhere … hope he’s not going to be gone too long!  Here’s the survivor …

Muse 121, CTS 127, SSSM 8-6, SSSW 10-6 … which I readily admit is really rather too similar to Michele‘s splendid Muse card further down!   After many attempts at all kinds of CASEs, I eventually copied mimicked Michele‘s blooms by die cutting circles (MFT) of white and navy card, triple clear embossing the navy ones to make them stand out and shine, and adhering them together.  The Lawn Fawn leaf stems were stamped onto a white panel and coloured with a Memento re-inker, and the flower heads were fixed them in place above them.  The stamped ‘hello’ is from Clearly Besotted and the die cut ‘you’ is from SSS, adhered so it would hang off the edge of the panel, as a nod to Michele‘s overhanging sentiment banner.   Now that shouldn’t have been too difficult or time consuming … should it?  Well, no … it wasn’t … it was all the others that were!

I’m playing along with …

Muse – Michele (I Card Everyone) … a smidge last minute but I really wanted to play (see below).

CAS(E) This Sketch – Sam Simpson … with a stretch or two (see below)

SSS Monday – For The Love Of Plants

SSS Wednesday – Friends or Superhero

Hope you’ve had a wonderful weekend … and had some time to play!  Thanks so much for coming by, your visits and comments are always a joy!  Anita 🙂

Papertrey 8th Birthday Days 7-8, CAS-ual Fridays #136, Little Tangles #53, CAS(E) This Sketch #110

Back with my final two cards for Papertrey’s 8th Birthday … just squeezing in as the doors start to close!  Day 7‘s challenge is to use only metallics and neutrals …

PTI 8th Birthday Day 7, CTS 110Was a little mojo’d out by the time I got here (made this one last!) … so went back to find some inspiration in last year’s cards … and did a remake of this one, which in turn was a CASE of this one from Susan at Simplicity … I’d almost forgotten how much I love PTI‘s Dot Spot!   I stamped the largest and smallest dot circles in Versamark, and starting from the outer edge and working inwards I sprinkled gold, platinum and silver embossing powder over them, to create a kind of ombré metallic look.  Starting from the outside and working in meant I could tip the excess off without covering getting EP where I didn’t want it … ask me how I know!  The sentiment is made up of two PTI Global Greetings stamps (to get the same crisp font on both words), stamped in black Versafine and clear embossed.  Three gems finished it off.

In addition to PTI’s Day 7, this card is also heading to CAS(E) This Sketch … I landscaped it!

The last birthday challenge at PTI is for Day 8 and is to use blue ombré …

PTI 8th Birthday Day 8, CFC 136, LT 53I used Distress Inks to create an ombré wash on watercolour card and once it was dry, die cut it and some white watercolour card with PTI‘s Modern Cross Quilt Cover Plate and adhered the crosses into their respective places on the card base (there’s an ombré positive piece left to use on another card).  A standard base here is 10.5 x 15 cm (4 1/8 x 5 7/8 inches), a little longer than the Cover Plate … so I had some space to play with.  Rather than cutting the extra off, I did a Maile and sliced the white positive piece in two, leaving a gap for the sentiment.  I stamped the ‘sending’, popped the white up on foam tape over the crosses, die cut, sponged and clear embossed the ‘hugs’ and adhered it into place over the gap.  Done!

As well as at PTI Day 8, I’m also playing along at …

CAS-ual Fridays – Must Love Watercolour

Little Tangles – Watercolour

That’s my card making done for a while now (apart from my DT cards) … I’m looking forward to spending some time catching up with what everyone else has been doing … there’s a lot to be inspired by … I’ve seen my Feedly list!  Thanks so much for coming by, your visits and comments are always a joy!  Anita 🙂

Muse #100, Winnie & Walter Birthday Bash, CASology #129, CAS(E) This Sketch #106, Virginia’s View #11, Uniko #17

Squeezing in with a card tonight that’s heading for some must-play-in-challenges for me … two have my lovely friend, the ultra talented and thoroughly delightful Michele from icardeveryone making her DT debut for them this week … how could I resist …

Muse 100, W&W Birthday, CASology 129, CTS 106, VV 11I cut some MFT circles out of a white card panel, stamped and heat embossed the Winnie & Walter ‘love’ in Ranger Liquid Platinum alongside them, and stamped the ‘true’ from individual letters in words in the same W&W set.  Using the panel as a template, I traced the circles onto the base card in pencil and gradient stamped the W&W heart-in-a-circle.  I erased the pencil, popped the panel up on foam dots onto the base and added a single sequin to the sentiment.

I’m playing along with …

Muse – What a celebration this week … the 100th challenge … Muse’s second birthday … congratulations Ardyth and the DT (past and present) and thank you for such an inspirational 100 weeks! … and Michele‘s DT debut (see her awesome card below).  I focussed on Michele’s glorious white space, heart shapes and (as requested), accentuated (the little sequin) the negative (die cuts)!  The sentiment is a song title (optional twist) … a duet by Bing Crosby and Grace Kelly from High Society … you can hear it here (it’s worth a listen, the lyrics are just so lovely and romantic!).

Winnie & Walter Birthday Bash/JITW – Another celebration, this time W&W’s first birthday … congratulations Julie and Shay!  A second entry for Vanessa’s Gradient Challenge.

CASology – NBUS … love CASology … haven’t had chance to join in as much as I’d like in recent months, but with the wonderful Darnell’s NBUS as the cue card this week, it was the perfect excuse (even though I’ve used up my three entries over at Darnell’s, so won’t be linking there).  My NBUS is the little heart-in-a-circle stamp.

CAS(E) This SketchMichele‘s second DT debut in a week … and a super fun sketch … mine’s the rounded version of Chrissy‘s angular sketch … and I took the lead from some of the DT in being a little flexible with the sentiment placement!

Virginia’s View – Clean Slate … my third entry for the ‘lots of white space’ category … in the closing hours!

ETAUniko – Love & Friendship … thanks for the suggestion, Sandie!

Think a little visiting around blogland is in order … yum!  Thanks so much for coming by, your visits and comments are always a joy!  Anita 🙂

CAS(E) This Sketch #104, Colour Q #273, Virginia’s View #11, SSS Wednesday 24/12

Happy New Year everyone … friends, followers, commenters and silent readers … I hope 2015 will be a blessed and wonderful year for you all!  Thanks so very much for your friendship, inspiration and encouragement over the past twelve months … it’s been an honour and a delight to have spent it with you!

I’ve not been around very much over the Christmas and the New Year holidays, so it’s nice to be back with a card to share tonight.  One of my teamies at Time Out, my friend Gerrina, is celebrating her birthday today, and this is the card I made for her …

CTS 104, CQ 273, VV 11, SSSW 24-12Happy Birthday, my friend, hope you’ve had a fabulous day doing exactly what you like most (and hope your card has already arrived with you)!

I stamped the stems, leaves and stylised tulips from Avery Elle along the bottom edge of the card, added a touch of Wink of Stella to the flower heads, and stamped the WPlus9 sentiment in Versamark.  A scattering of dewy bling and a strip of black along the bottom finished it off.

I was inspired by, and am joining in with …

CAS(E) This Sketch – the first time in forever I’ve played along, see the fab sketch below

Colour Q – Poppy, Coral, Olive, Honey, White (or rather my equivalent colours)

Virginia’s View – Clean Slate (the lots of white space category)

SSS Wednesday – Anything Goes (Second Entry)

Enjoy the rest of your weekend … thanks so much for coming by, your visits and comments are always a joy!  Anita 🙂

Honourable Mention

I stamped the Uniko Studio gerbera onto watercolour card and (as Shirley would say), sloshed some colour over it.  Once it was dry, it was trimmed out, coated with Wink of Stella, and had Stickles added to the centre.  I stamped an Annabelle Stamps sentiment onto a watercolour card base, popped up the gerbera on foam dots, added a little bling and rounded the corners.

I’m entering Kylie’s card into these challenges …

CAS(E) This Sketch (where I’ve not played forever … see below for Gayatri’s fabulous sketch)

Uniko Studio – Birthday and Purple Hues (see below)

Stamplorations – Stamps and Glitter (you can’t see the WoS but the glitter’s pretty full on!)

SSS Monday – W Is For White (all but the flower)

Thank you so much for all your good wishes, healing thoughts and prayers after the epic hand v hot baking tray battle … it’s much, much better (the hand!) and I’m back to (gingerly) doing things two handed.  Whilst I’m not a quick card maker at the best of times, at the moment I’m even slower than usual (is that the hand or is that Monsieur Mojo playing up, I wonder) … so I’ve come up with a cunning plan to keep posting.  I’m going to post a couple of cards made a while ago that I never shared … they’re already in the hands of the sweet friends to whom they were sent, so I won’t be ruining any surprises!

See you a little later.  Thanks so much for coming by, your visits and comments are always a joy!  Anita 🙂

CAS(E) this Sketch #65, The Card Concept #4 (Floral), Cure For The Monday Blues #6

I experimented last night … and have an all-over-the-floor paper bin to show for it … and this card …

CTS 65, TCC 4, CFTMB 6

I’ve used Sam’s sketch at CAS(E) this Sketch (where I haven’t played for such a long time), I’m joining in with the floral theme at The Card Concept (Clean and Simple style), and for the first time, linking up with Taheera’s Cure For The Monday Blues.

This resist technique is a new one for me, hence the experimenting.  The Stampendous ranunculus were stamped on a watercolour card panel with Versamark ink, clear embossed and then coloured (inspired by Therese‘s Muse card here).  I used a couple of pinks and tried different amounts of water with them, to see if I could create some depth and shading on the blooms, and a kind of halo effect around them to go with the sketchy look.  Once the card was dry, I went over it all with a wash of Memento Galaxy Gold and added a little gold embossing to the flower centres.  The sentiment’s from Clearly Besotted, again stamped in Versamark and then embossed in gold.  I swiped the edges of a card base with Versamark and gold embossed them before adhering the flower panel flat to it.  It was going to be popped up, but the bit of warping did away with that idea … it’s going to live under a heavy book till I send it out!

The door will soon be closing at CTS, so I’m off to link.  Thanks so much for coming by, your visits and comments are always a joy!  Anita 🙂

Less is More #154 (Hearts OLC), The Card Concept #1 (Kraft, Pink, Vanilla, Espresso), CAS(E) This Sketch #60

Rushing in with a card to share for three challenges, one of which is open for just a short while more … hence the dash!

LIM 154, CC 1, CTS60

So, my sqeaking-in-at-the-last-minute stop is Less is More … it’s One Layer Week and this time we’re playing with Hearts.  I’m also joining in at the shiny new Card Concept … another fabulous challenge from Lesley Croghan, who’s put together an awesome team of 12 designers to inspire (and guide) us with six different card making styles (two per style).  The colours for this (rapidly disappearing) first fortnight are luscious … kraft, pink, vanilla, espresso … I’ve used them in a Clean and Simple style (I think!).  Finally my layout’s inspired by the most recent sketch at CAS(E) This Sketch (where there’s plenty of time left if you’d like to play along!)

The feather image is from Waltzingmouse Stamps, masked to get the two intertwined and the hearts in the right spots.  The feathers were then masked again, along with a space for the sentiment, and the Annabelle Stamps fine lines border was stamped over the top.  I finished with the ‘Thanks Chickie’ and hand dotted a couple of lines underneath.

I’d like to say a warm hello this evening to new follower Kate, who lives at Pinned & Penned.  Kate has a wonderful CAS style you can check out for yourself with a visit to her blog … she’s also a published poet and sews … an all round creative soul!  You’re very welcome Kate, and thank you!  🙂

OK, I need to go and see Mr Linky.  Thanks so much for coming by, your visits and comments are always a joy!  Anita 🙂

Paper Smooches Sparks 21/10 (Cool Shades), CAS(E) this Sketch #51, Simon Says Stamp Wednesday 23/10 (Halloween Colours)

Here’s my final card for the weekend … a joint venture between Paper Smooches Sparks, where it’s Cool Shades week (orange, purple, kraft, teal), CAS(E) this Sketch where N@Ali is our sketch artist, and Simon Says Stamp Wednesday, where there’s a Halloween Colours theme …

PSS 21-10, CTS 51, SSSW 23-10

 Simon Wednesday Challenge Blog

I used the sketch upside down, and stamped the PS sentiment over a PTI sketch banner that I made narrower by masking each side with post its.  The PS cute bird was stamped, coloured with Promarkers and trimmed out.  I added Glossy Accents to his eyes and once that was dry, popped him up on dimensionals.  The addition of a few previously kraft-tinted clear sequins was the finishing touch.

I’m not sure where the weekend’s gone, but gone it has … and it’s a bit late to go off on my travels round the blogosphere again tonight, so I’ll be catching up tomorrow.  I do hope you’ve had a wonderful weekend, and had the chance to have some lovely creative time.  Thanks so much for coming by, your visits and comments are, as always a delight!  Anita 🙂

CASology #66 (Pumpkin), CAS(E) this Sketch #50, Dynamic Duos #75 (Deep Orange and Black with Optional Halloween)

Halloween isn’t a big thing here, and it’s never really been a big thing for me either.  However, given that the Cue Card at Casology is Pumpkin, Dynamic Duos have a deep orange/black colour palette with the option of Halloween (my first time joining in), and at CAS(E) this Sketch there’s a Chrissy Larson circular design to try (pumpkins are round!), it seemed a good idea to combine them and and see what happened.  This did (eventually) …

CASology 66, CTS 50, DD 75

Not a stamp in sight … what??  The only pumpkin image I have is a Cricut one from the Stretch Your Imagination cartridge, so I cut one from deep orange card, coloured it with Promarkers to add some dimension (it was flat, flat, flat) and popped some brighter orange behind to light it (also Promarkered).  There’s a circle of black in the background, the panel’s from the same card as the pumpkin and I doodled the ‘bites’ out of the aperture to go with the toothy grin.  The ‘boo’ is Cricut cut and mounted on a strip of black.  I adhered the black circle flat against the card base, popped the pumpkin up on slender dimensionals and popped the top panel on with chunkier ones.

Simple?  Hahaha … not.  I’ve not used my Cricut for a few months and it’s obviously feeling neglected, so it’s throwing a big tantrum.  After lots of crawling about checking cables and connections, and pressing the not-so-easy-to-find reset button I finally got it working … after a fashion.  It now takes over five minutes warm up after being switched on and goes into sleep mode after only about a second and a half (that’s a slight exaggeration but it wasn’t very long … at all).  The upshot is that while this card should’ve been a quick, simple make, it wasn’t, it took up all the time I was going to use to do some emails and make some more cards.  In addition, whilst it’s ok, I don’t really like it that much!  Phew … OK … rant over!!  Now pondering the idea of getting a pumpkin stamp!

I’m off to get dinner started … I’ll be back later for a meander around the blogosphere.  Thanks so much for coming by, your visits and comments are, as ever, a joy!  Anita 🙂

CAS(E) this Sketch #47, Runway Inspired Challenge #45, Simon Says Stamp Monday 30/9 (Say it with Stamps), Insider Online Card Class Day 2

I haven’t played along at CAS(E) this Sketch for a while so I’m really pleased to be squeaking in at the last minute today using Chrissy Larsson’s fun sketch (turned landscape).  The Runway Inspired Challenge is one I’ve followed for some time, although until now hadn’t joined in with … but as this week’s catwalk photograph gave me one of those oh-my-goodness-not-if-but-when card making moments … I used it as my inspiration.  The ‘Say it with Stamps’ challenge at Simon Says Stamp Monday fits in happily alongside the other two, and I’m also adding my card to the Insider Online Card Class Day 2 Gallery … taking the outside of your card to the inside …

CTS 47, RIC 45, SSSM 30-9, OCCI 2

          Simon Monday Challenge Blog

This is a new technique for me … it’s one Laura Bassen showed us in the Insider Online Card Class, and uses a clear panel to allow the inside of a card to feature as much as the outside.  I made the inside first, using markers and a ruler (!) to draw the coloured stripes (to match those on the dress), and then added the PTI ‘thank you’.    For the card front, I stamped the black stripes onto a white card panel, cut a clear panel to size and adhered one to the other.  The front and back of the card were then adhered together along the top, just behind the fold line.  My finishing touch was to add a curved panel of pearlised silver card to pick up the style of that oh so cool purse/handbag in the photo.

I’m delighted to say hello to new follower, Nicky …. a white-space-loving CAS card maker and stamper, who’s been pulled away from her blog for a while by other commitments.  She’ll be joining us in blogland again before too long and when that happens, I’ll add a link so you can go for a visit and explore.  Welcome Nicky, and thank you!

Busy day ahead … I’ve been fending it off to get this post done … can’t keep it at bay any longer!  Thanks so much for coming by, as ever, your visits and comments are a joy!  Anita 🙂
