Cropped Challenge – General

Cropped Challenge General Projects 2 by Anita Raffo

We were invited to upload the projects we’d been working on in addition to the five challenges we’ve created for the weekend.  Here are a couple of mine … Thinking of You (based around a Craftwork Cards die cut tag from their Sweet Meadow range) and Hello, Hello, Hello (based around  Personal Impressions’ Three Birds tinchies stamp and coloured with Promarkers) .
Ooh and I won a giveaway today … looking forward to a package coming in the mail!

Cropped Challenge #5

Cropped Challenge 5b by Anita Raffo

Challenge #5 was to create a project using only paper and adhesive.  I made this folding daisy chain card using 20 cm (8 inch) squares of co-ordinating papers and daisies cut with my Cricut Accent Essentials Cartridge.  It folds flat on itself and would take a tag to tuck inside the closure band.  It occurs to me the same design could be used on a smaller scale to make dinky Christmas decorations.  I feel another project coming on!

Cropped Challenge #4

Challenge #4 was to use the colour teal and seven circles in a project of our own choice, so I chose a Christmas card as I have some lovely My Mind’s Eye papers combining teal with traditional red and green.  The red letter stickers came in my Mystery Box and were perfect for the greeting.  It may seem that I’ve used squares in this design, but really I haven’t … they’re circles with the edges folded in, a bit like you’d see in a patchwork … thought I’d think outside the box!

Cropped Challenge #3

Challenge #3 was to create any kind of Subway Art … not something I’d heard of so checked it out … the photo shows what I came up with.  It’s not a style I’ve used before and it took a while to get the creative juices going … I guess trying to be creative in the early hours doesn’t always work well!  It was fun though to do something a bit outside of my crafting comfort zone.  Roll on the next challenge.

Cropped Challenge #2

Challenge #2 was a layout using Megan’s Paper Layerz which came in the Mystery Box.  They’re 12×12 sheets divided into nine 4×4 squares, designed originally to be used for die cutting with the Cricut machine (the colours co-ordinate and there’s no need to keep changing paper!).  Each square needed to be a separate layout.  I took as my inspiration nine different two or three word phrases that I believe are important to remember in life … and designed the layouts to reflect the sentiment.  I’ve never used as many techniques on one piece of work before!!

Cropped Challenge #1

Challenge #1 was to create a card using inking and masking (Megan demonstrated a sunset card on one of her DVDs that was included in the Mystery Box).  It took a while to decide what I was going to do but one night, I noticed how brilliant the moon was and what a great yellow halo it had … so I used it as inspiration for my silhouette card.  I love the phrase … it’s from Hero Arts Anytime Messages clear stamp set … I just played with the layout.

Cropped Mystery Box Challenge

This weekend, I’m taking part in the Cropped Mystery Box Challenge … created and run by Megan Elizabeth Gravener at Above Rubies Studio.  This is an online event (my first!) with giveaways, teach-ins, chat, challenges and prizes.

The first two challenges came with the Mystery Box I got last month, the first a card, the second a layout (another first!) using Megan’s Paper Layerz.  I’m uploading the pictures of my creations here as well as linking them to croppedevent.com as my entries.  The next three challenges will be announced over the weekend, and I’ll do the same with them, so check back to see what you think.
