Time Out DT #85, CAS on Sunday #109, Just Us Girls #396, SSS Monday – 5 June, SSS Wednesday – 7 June, Uniko #41

Hello … bonjour!  Our wonderful new challenge starts at Time Out this morning … this fortnight, we have a relaxing, easy like Sunday morning Home Sweet Home photo to inspire you (below).  I had a bit of fun with it …

Here’s the inspiration picture …

Laura Ashley Blog | SPRING / SUMMER 2015 INTERIOR TRENDS | http://blog.lauraashley.com:
I was taken by the colours of those squashy cushions and by the hummingbird on one of them … and given the all those palm leaves and gorgeous shutters, this scene struck me as deliciously tropical.  I have no hummingbird images though do have MFT’s Birds of Paradise and some of those guys were happy to be the understudies on my card.  The design is a total CASE of the uber talented Therese’s owl card (here at Lost in Paper) … I loved the line art stamping and and retro colour palette, so played with some of my own!  Thanks for your unending inspiration, Therese!  My birds have Glossy Accented eyes, the bubbles of colour over them are SSS (Lots of Dots) and the sentiment is WPlus9 (white embossed) and SSS (die cut and Glossy Accented).
The birds of paradise were having such fun that they didn’t want to go back into their storage pocket and pleaded for more time to play with ink.  I indulged them … and they came up with a masculine version …
On this one, I randomly overstamped the main bubbles of colour with smaller ones in the same colour ink and covered them with Glossy Accents.  The embossed sentiment panel is from WPlus9 and the die cut is Papertrey, both popped up on craft foam.
What will inspire you in our picture … the colours, that wicker hammock, the different patterns on the cushions, the palms … or something else?  Whatever you come up with, we’d love to see you in our gallery.  This fortnight we’re sponsored by Happy Little Stampers who are offering our winner, as voted for by the DT, a $15 GC … and as usual, our winner will also be invited to guest design with us in a future challenge.  All the details are over at the Time Out blog … along with a whole host of delicious ideas from our wonderful DT and from our talented Guest Designer Ashwini from Experiments With Cardmaking etc.  Ashwini always makes fantastic use of colour on her gorgeous cards … do check out her blog if you haven’t been, there’s so much yumminess to take in!
With the first card, I’m playing along at …
CAS on Sunday – Use a Repetition Image (hope it’s CAS enough!)
Just Us Girls – Die Cuts
and with the second, I’m joining in over at …
SSS Monday – Masculine
SSS Wednesday – Make It Masculine
Uniko – Masculine
Hope your week is going wonderfully … and that you’ve had some space to craft!  Thanks so much for coming by, your visits and comments are always a joy!  Anita 🙂
PS … I apologise for the formatting here … WordPress has decided to go it’s own way for now, and has obstinately resisted all attempts by me to add paragraphs or even line spacing.  If it can be fixed, it will be!  A 🙂

Hello …. bonjour!  Hope your week’s been a sunshiny one!  We’re about half way through our ‘Inspired by Words’ challenge at Time Out … ‘Wherever you go, no matter the weather, always bring your own sunshine’, and I’m popping in with another sun filled card.  If your week’s been lacking in enough warm yellow rays (of all kinds), help yourself to some here …

Time Out DT 61RTime Out

A white card panel, sponged with a sunny halo of Squeezed Lemonade and Mustard Seed Distress Inks, cut with a Winnie & Walter die, and stamped with a supplementary sentiment from Avery Elle.  It was  sprinkled with water and blotted, I added white, platinum and silver splatters, and sprayed the whole thing with a drift of shimmer spray.  The inner portions of the letters were adhered flat to the card base and the panel was popped up on foam tape.  How would you like a glance at all that gentle shimmer …

Time Out DT 61R DetailHave you been inspired by this delicious phrase yet?  You can use any or all of the words as a jumping off point for your creativity … and we’d love to see you in the gallery!  All the details are over at the Time Out blog, along with creative cards galore from our fabulous DT and our super talented Guest Designer, Sue from Foleys Friend … hope to see you there!

Time Out DT #56 Mid Challenge Reminder, Uniko #31, Just Us Girls #342, CAS Mix Up – May, HLS Mixed Media – May, SSS Monday – 9 May

Hello … bonjour!  Have you seen Kay Miller‘s gorgeous card that we’re CASEing at Time Out at the moment … it’s a stunner (a little further down).  Here’s my second take on it …

Time Out DT 56RTime Out

… here’s Kay‘s beauty …

This time, I tried to capture the essence of Kay‘s card with some different images … stayed faithful to the CAS look, general layout and those gorgeous colours … and twisted with some stencilling, heat embossing and dry embossing/die cutting.  I partially sponged a white card panel with Distress Ink over a Hero Arts stencil, stamped the SSS sentiment in the same colour, silver heat embossed a Mama Elephant flourish to act as the butterfly trail (it’s part of a big word!) and die cut the panel with a Winnie & Walter pierced/scalloped rectangle.  The Uniko butterfly was silver heat embossed onto vellum, I coloured it on both sides with Promarkers so the pinks were good and bright, trimmed it out (including those delicate antennae!) and adhered it over the stencilling, allowing the antennae and wings to fly free.  The finished panel was popped up on craft foam onto the card base.  How about a detail shot of all the shine …

Time Out DT 56R DetailIt’s going to be difficult to resist CASEing Kay‘s card isn’t it … first off, it’s gorgeous … and second, there are so many wonderful elements to it that you can use to inspire you.  We’d love to see you link up what you create to our gallery!  All the details are over at the Time Out blog, along with plenty of delicious ideas from our fabulous DT, and from our lovely and talented Guest Designer, Marlena from Marlena is Faithfully Crafting.  Hope to see you there!

I’m playing along with …

Uniko – Metallics

Just Us Girls – Butterfly

CAS Mix Up – Heat Embossing … plus die cutting, fussy cutting and stencilling

Time Out DT #49, Addicted To CAS #80, Just Us Girls #328, SSS Wednesday – 3 February, Simply Create Too #101

Hello … bonjour!  Happy Thursday!  It’s time for a fresh new challenge at Time Out … this fortnight we have an ‘Inspired By Words’ theme … ‘Love Is The Flower You’ve Got To Let Grow’.  Here’s my take …

Time Out DT 49Time OutMy flower took the leading role on stage while those tiny love hearts are there in support!  This is almost one layer … a masked, Distress Ink sponged panel, splattered with shimmery white, with a die cut paint chip bloom adhered over it (SSS maybe … thanks to my lovely friend, Michele).  I used Promarkers to add some more colour to the die cut so that the ombré red had a more blended look … and so that the white gaps between the colours were less obvious.  I stamped the NBUS SSS sentiment and added a trio of Wink of Stella’d and Glossy Accented hearts … and I was done!

How might our words inspire you … you can use all or any of them to spark your ideas … and then play along!  There’s a prize this time round as we’re sponsored by Clearly Besotted Stamps (who just happen to be sneak peeking their new release right now!) … the overall winner, as voted for by the DT will win a £15 gift card!  All the details are over at the Time Out blog, along with creative cards galore from our fabulous DT and our amazingly talented Guest Designer, Valentyna from Flourishtina … hope to see you in the gallery!

I’m joining in with …

Addicted To CAS – Red

Just Us Girls – Tic, Tac, Toe … Middle Vertical Row – Die Cuts, Stamps, Flowers

SSS Wednesday – Have a Heart

Simply Create Too – Something New … my sentiment … and that sweet bloom!

Enjoy the rest of your week!  Thanks so much for coming by, your visits and comments are always a joy!  Anita 🙂

Time Out #47 Mid Challenge Reminder, AEIHeartU #32, Just Us Girls #325

Hello … bonjour!  We’re mid way through our fabulous Birthday themed challenge at Time Out … with the optional Technique Twist of using sponging.  After last week’s dimensional, multi layered confection, this time I went with a (mostly) flat little number (still no twisting!) …

Time Out DT 47RTime OutThis card was inspired by two videos I saw over the last few weeks … this one from Jennifer McGuire and this one from May Park.  I combined the two ideas for my version, using cool, frosty looking brrrrrrr-wintery colours.   The die cut happy is from Avery Elle, cut once in silver foil and three times in aqua, stacked with the letter loops left in place on the bottom layer, and adhered to the card front.  I drew a pencil line frame around the card as a guide and did some random surround stamping with Avery Elle stamps, using four chilly ink colours plus silver to go with the sentiment.  A little Stickles was added to the flower centres, a tiny SSS sentiment was white embossed on black, trimmed out and nestled in under the happy on foam tape … and I erased the pencil line frame.  Kind of prettily frosty … or frostily pretty!

We’d love for you to play along with us at Time Out … with any style of birthday card … and if you use sponging on your project, you’ll be in with a random chance of winning a £15 evoucher to spend at Uniko!  Also, and as usual, our overall winner, as chosen by the DT, will be invited to guest design with us in a future challenge!  It could be you!  There’s a heap of inspiration on display over at the Time Out blog, from our talented (and returning from July!) Guest Designer, Rema from Paper Panache … and from our wonderful Design Team.  Hope you’ll be able to make it to the gallery!

I’m playing along at …

AEIHeartU – Winter … I went with those cool, frosty colours!

Just Us Girls – Metallics … my silver sentiment and stars!

Challenge 32

Seize the Birthday Surprise Party Guest – 19/11, Lawnscaping Challenge #118, Pinterest Inspired Challenge – November, Just Us Girls #319

Bonjour encore!  This is my second post of the day … if you’re looking for my Time Out Mid Challenge Reminder, it’s here.  If not, I hope you’ll enjoy my final card as Surprise Party Guest over at Seize the Birthday … thanks so much to Nancy and the team for the invitation and for the wonderful warm welcome … it’s been such fun!   This fortnight, we have a vellum or acetate topping to tempt you … here’s my pretty little number …

STB GD 19 NovSurprisePartyGuest GraphicI used one of my first purchases (Blissful Botanicals from Lawn Fawn) to create a flower strewn panel … and coloured it with Zig Watercolour Markers. Yep, finally got a set … and can now understand why everyone’s been raving about them … they’re fabulous!  I wanted to create a halo of colour around each image, so used the markers direct to the stamped blooms and leaves and then went back over them with a waterbrush to push the colour outside of the lines.  Once it was all dry, the flowers were highlighted with white gel pen and I trimmed the panel down.  The vellum sentiment strip (Avery Elle, embossed in white) was wrapped round the panel and attached at the back, the panel was mounted flat on the card base, and I adhered a slender slice of black card to the edge.  It’s bling-free … all that vibrant colour and bright white can do the talking!

If you’ve played along at Seize The Birthday before, you’ll know that the theme, or ‘Toppings’, are optional … so you don’t have to use vellum or acetate … you can make any birthday card and join in with us … we’d be delighted if you did!  If you’d like some ideas, there are plenty over at the Seize The Birthday blog … hope to see you in the gallery!

The inspiration for my card came from three challenges …

Lawnscaping Challenge – In With The Old … a new discovery, just started following with Feedly!

Pinterest Inspired Challenge – Photo below … also a new discovery, also following with Feedly!

Just Us Girls – Use Watercolouring

Time Out DT #33, Just Us Girls #296, Virginia’s View #15, SSS Wednesday 10/6, Less Is More #227

It’s time for our sparkling new challenge at Time Out … this fortnight, we’re Inspired By Words … and the words are ‘happy is the bride that the sun shines on’.  Here’s my take …

Time Out DT 33Time OutI took a couple of the words, ‘sun shines’, and made a sunny card using a long triangle stamp Avery Elle‘s Bright Days in two different yellows.  The AE hello was cut three times, stacked up, and was mounted overlapping a narrow card panel.  I stamped the rest of the sentiment onto the panel and applied plenty of Wink of Stella to it, as well as to the hello and the sun, before adhering the sun flat to the card base and popping the sentiment panel up over it.  Would you like to see some of the shimmer …

Time Out DT 33 DetailWhere does your imagination take you when you hear the words ‘happy is the bride the sun shines on’?  You can use a single word, a selection or even the whole phrase as the inspiration for your card … however the mood takes you!  All the details are over on the Time Out blog, along with a ton of inspiration from our talented Guest Designer, the lovely Sue from Sue’s Card Craft and our amazing DT!  Look forward to seeing you in the gallery!
