A Trio Of Cards!

Hello … bonjour!  Surprise … a non DT post … my first since January!  Each week I believe there’ll be a little spare time to just play with paper, ink and challenges … then it gets to Sunday night and there’s not.  Pretty much where we’ve all been at one time or another, I guess!  Today, though, at last, I have a trio of cards to share, inspired by a plenty of different challenges.  Here’s the first …

My primary inspiration here came from my lovely friend Chriss‘s card for Muse Christmas Visions, 100th challenge party (many congratulations, ladies!) …I picked up on the colours, the gold and the layout … and stamped my festive spray using images from Concord & 9th‘s Flourish.  This isn’t an outline stamp, so I did some of the layering in gold, to mimic Chriss’s embossing.  For the main flower, I also used a water brush to blend the gold and white to create cream … and added some white gel pen highlights to the berries.  The sentiment is from WPlus9 (inspired by SSS Monday).

I’m playing along at (badges at the bottom) …

Muse Christmas Visions – As above

Addicted to Stamps and More – Holiday

SSS Monday – Inspired by a Song … Joy To The World

SSS Wednesday – Use More Than One Stamp … Two sets, lots of stamps

Watercooler Wednesday – All About Christmas

The next card is a bright, sunny little number …

This lovely MFT sunflower was gifted to me by my sweet friend Bev (thanks, Bev!) … it puts me in mind of the  fields of them that will be in bloom around us by the summer.  I did some ink layering (with MISTI) to get the graduated colour on the petals and leaves, die cut everything and adhered the flower and leaves onto my linen card base.  The Papertrey sentiment (thanks, Judith!) was stacked three times and adhered over the sunflower … and I scattered some Lucy’s Little Gems around it.

This bright bloom is heading to (badges below)…

Just Us Girls – Inspiration Picture (below)

Happy Little Stampers Dies – Anything Goes

SSS Monday – Inspired by a Song … Sunflower by Glen Campbell

SSS Work it Wednesday – Sunshine and Summer Time

The Cat’s Pajama’s – Die Cutting

This last card may just have a familiar feel about it …

Yep, the same main image as the first card … though doesn’t it look different here in these summery shades (or at least it does to my eyes!).   My colour palette came from a home decor piece I saw on Pinterest … I wanted something rather bold … and a bit different from my usual choices.  The Concord & 9th Flourish images are simply stamp layered direct onto the card base … and I added a sentiment from Beautiful Branches, also from Concord & 9th.  Voilà … it didn’t seem to need anything else!

I’m joining in with (badges below) …

Where Creativity Meets C9 – Floral

Less Is More – One Layer Card – Thinking of You

SSS Monday – Inspired by a Song … Wildflowers by Tom Petty

SSS Wednesday – Use More Than One Stamp … Two sets here

Hope your weekend has been a wonderful one … have a happy week!  Thanks so much for coming by, your visits and comments are always a joy!  Anita:)

A New Challenge At Time Out – #98 Home Sweet Home – Stockings Are Hung …

Hello … bonjour!  Our wonderful new challenge starts at Time Out this morning … this fortnight, we have a Home Sweet Home photo to inspire you that’s fresh and festive with a touch of rustic (below) … here’s where I went with it …

Time Out

… and here’s the scrumptious photo inspiration …

These were perfect for our family's Christmas stockings since we don't have a fireplace! https://www.etsy.com/listing/244801883/christmas-stocking-holders-set-of-4:

Those stockings just waiting for Santa to fill them really took my eye … and my mantel is a nod to those yummy wooden hook plates.  The images are from Neat and Tangled (Elves & Their Shelf), stamped and coloured with Zigs … with some gel pen doodling for the patterns on the stockings.  The sentiment is from Winnie & Walter (In Bloom: Victoria’s Very Merry Flowers with Lydia Evans) and the dotted frame was embossed with a Lawn Fawn border die.  I used a Versamark pen to colour in the stocking tops and heat embossed them with Hero Arts White Puff EP.  Want to see all that fluffiness …

What takes your attention in our Home Sweet Home photo … the traditional Christmas colours, those patterns, the white on wood designs, that hint of rustic … or something else?  Whichever way you’re inspired, we’d love to see what you create in our gallery!  Our winner, as chosen by the DT, will receive a £15 gift voucher from our lovely sponsor, Uniko (thanks, Bev!), and will have the chance to guest design with us in a future challenge.  All the details are over at the Time Out blog … along with a whole host of enticing ideas from our fabulous DT and from our awesomely talented Guest Designer (and ex teamie), Sarah from Funky Fossil Designs.  If you haven’t come across Sarah’s delicious creations, do go over for a visit and enjoy her brilliantly crisp, CAS and inspiring cards … and even if you have, why not pop over and say hello … you’ll have a fabulous time!

Guest Designing At Inspired By All The Little Things

Hello … bonjour!  It was a wonderful surprise to get an email from my sweet friend, the lovely Tracey McNeely recently, asking if I’d like to be her Creative Guest at Inspired By All The Little Things.  Erm … well, that response took less than a nano second … YES!  So, here I am this afternoon, thrilled, honoured and excited to share with you a couple of cards I made based on this beautiful inspiration photo … isn’t it a stunner?

Here’s the first, a kind of in-reverse take on it …

A popped up white card panel, sponged in the centre with three Distress Inks (in order, from the outside going in … Dried Marigold, Abandoned Coral, Picked Raspberry), lightly splattered with water droplets.  The die cut white frame and bloom are from Simply Graphic (courtesy of the lovely Maria) and were adhered flat over the ink, with the petals left free to be all drifty and dimensional.  The sentiment is from Winnie & Walter and there’s some Lawn Fawn pierced detailing along the panel edges.  In my photo here, the variations in background colour didn’t come out as well as I’d hoped (though IRL they’re rather delicious!) … so I made another card to show you all those splendid shades …

A watercolour card panel stamped with the Essentials by Ellen Mondo Hydrangea (from my Lake House stash), wet on wet watercoloured with Distress Inks (same shades as above, plus Shabby Shutters and Mowed Lawn for the stems), with the centres done in pearly silver drops.  The sentiment is from SSS, white embossed on a black strip.  The strip was adhered flat to the card base and the watercolour panel was split and popped up over it.

How would you like to play along and be inspired by that spectacular bloom?  I’d love it if you had time to join in!  All the details, plus an abundance of amazing cards from the Design Team, (and a short interview with little old me!) are over at the Inspired By blog  … do go and enjoy a browse … and maybe get those crafty fingers walking!

My florals are also heading to (badges below) …

A Shower of Love … Over Scribbled Blooms

Hello … bonjour!  A mid week post that isn’t for Time Out (though some of my talented team mates have cards to show you today, so why not pop over!) … yep, it’s unusual.  I wanted to play along with the delightful and lovely Darnell‘s GD spot at Just Us Girls (among others), and Mr Linky will be closing his doors today.  So, here’s my card …

A stitched rectangle (thanks to Claire who sent me a yummy heap), sponged with a delicate meadow of gently splattered soft green, and stamped with a little cloud, heart drops and a sentiment from WPlus9 (I think now retired).  Just look at the way those little drops fell on the meadow … right into the form of a Winnie & Walter love die!  The hearts and die were coated with lashings of Spectrum Noir sparkle and a layer of Glossy Accents … here’s a closer shot so you can see it better …

I’m playing along at (badges at the bottom) …

Happy Little Stampers Dies – Anything Goes

Just Us Girls – Shower

Winnie & Walter Colour Combo – See Below

While I’m here, here’s another CAS little pretty …

A white card panel, stamped with a row of WPlus9 leaves and stems, flower heads (masked off where it was needed) made with Circle Scribbles from Papertrey, and a sweet sentiment from Avery Elle.  A scattering of clear drops act as dew, as does Glossy Accents in the centre of each bloom.  The panel is popped up on craft foam on the card base.

This is heading over to …

Clean & Textured … And … Clean & Vibrant

Hello … bonjour!  I have a couple of cards to share today, both of which are pretty clean … though they are rather different from one another.  First up, a texture-y, soft, natural-looking little number …

A Lawn Fawn embossed edge panel, stencilled with Tumbled Glass DI and heat embossed in clear, with a couple of Concord & 9th‘s Layering Leaves arranged over the top … and anchored in place with a wooden dot.  The SSS hello was adhered flat alongside … and the panel was popped up on craft foam onto the base.  Here’s a close up of all that texture …

I’m playing along at …

Seven Hills Crafts – Sketch (see below … I changed orientation of my card, hope that’s ok!)

Where Creativity Meets C9 – Embossing (badge shows in draft, but not in post … sorry!)

Less Is More – Anything But Stamps

Happy Little Stampers Mixed Media – Texture

SHOP OUR STORE

My second card has more colour and is more graphic …

Crisp and QACAS (quick and clean and simple in Darnell-ese) … a strip of rainbow washi tape along the edge of the card … and a stack of SSS die cuts (and secondary stamped sentiment), also in rainbow colours, taking centre stage.  Here’s the side view so you can see (at least a little better!) all seven of those layered colours …

This bright delight is heading to …

Time Out DT #74, CASology #230, Less Is More #309, Simon Says Stamp

Hello … bonjour!   Our first challenge of 2017 starts today at Time Out … our theme is ‘Winter’ … with the option of ‘White on White’ (only using white except a neutral for the sentiment).  Here’s how I interpreted the theme …

time-out-dt-74  Time Out

A lovely friend (thanks Judith!) sent me some of these aptly named Dazzling Snowflake die cuts (from Memory Box) … and to me this snowflake says winter in a most delicious way!  I trimmed down the panel that it was cut into, backed it with white vellum, stamped the Winnie & Walter sentiment in Delicata Silver, added the dots with a silver gel pen and popped on some clear bling.  There’s a sentiment inside, also W&W, that reads ‘a bright, brilliant birthday’.  I wanted to find a way of allowing the light to shine through the vellum, so I cut a square into the card base leaving a border around the edge, added foam tape over the remaining space, and adhered the snowflake panel over the top.  I used a ruler and craft knife … before thinking that it could have been done with a circular or square die, which would have been slightly more straightforward … ho hum, next time!  Want to see what it looks like with the light behind it?  Voilà …

time-out-dt-74-detailBet you already know what a tricky shot that was to get!

So … what ideas is your creative brain already working on for ‘Winter’?  We’d love to see what you come up with in our gallery.  If you choose to use the option of ‘White on White’, you could win a £15 GC from Uniko in our random draw … and as usual, our overall winner, as voted for by the DT, will be invited to be our Guest Designer in a future challenge.  All the details are over at the Time Out blog, along with tons of inspiration from our wonderful DT and our fabulous and talented returning Guest Designer, Claire from Life on the Scrap Heap (who you need to visit if you haven’t already … lots of loveliness to explore!).

I’m sending my snowflake along to play at …

CASology – Cold

Less Is More – Dimension

SSS Monday – Start Afresh (new sentiment set from W&W)

SSS Wednesday – Something New (as above)

SSS Work It Wednesday – Something New with New Product (also as above)

Thanks so much for coming by, your visits and comments are always a joy!  Anita 🙂

Less Is More #300, Virginia’s View #25, Tic-Tac-Toe #21, SSS Work It Wednesday – October … and a Lovely Visit!

Hello … bonjour … hope your week has been going along wonderfully!  Before I get to the news of a lovely visit I received recently, I have a CAS card to share for a quartet of challenges that just seem to fit together beautifully.  Want to see …

lim-300-vv-25-tic-tac-toe-21-ssswiw-octoberThis sweet bloom is from a WPlus9 flower builder set … there are lots of other images as well …  I just wanted to let this one take centre stage!  It’s stamped just off the edge of a white card panel and has the flower head coated copiously with Spectrum Noir Clear Sparkle … it’s just about visible on the top two petals if you peer in a bit.  I added a sentiment from SSS and some crystal bling before popping the panel up on craft foam onto a card base that had been trimmed along the bottom with washi tape.

I’m joining in with these playing-nicely-together challenges (badges below) …

Less Is More – Celebrations/Festivals … it’s the 300th … congratulations, Chrissie and the team … what a fantastic milestone!  I have a soft spot for LIM as it was the first challenge I played along with, way back when we were all still young … and when we were still in double digits!

Virginia’s View – Stripes/Plaids

Tic-Tac-Toe – CAS, Builder Stamps, Pearls/Gemstones

SSS Work It Wednesday – Use a Simon Brand Product

Now, that wonderful visit.  I was thrilled a few months ago to get a note from my lovely friend Barb at Love2Colour that she and DH Cal were going to be making the trip from California to France for an amazing tour … and that they would be within a couple of hours of us during one of their overnight stops!  The timing was perfect (just a few days before I headed to the Lake House) … and on a sunny Sunday afternoon at the beginning of October, we met Barb and Cal at their hotel in Bordeaux.

anita-barb-1What a fun and delightful afternoon and evening we had together … and what a delicious dinner we enjoyed at a great restaurant recommended by the hotel concierge.  Barb and Cal … thank you … it was truly a joy to meet you … and to spend time together IRL.  One day, we may even get to do the same thing in reverse … what an adventure that would be!

Thanks so much for coming by, your visits and comments are always a joy!  Anita 🙂
