CASology #87 (Blush), Online Card Class CAS 3 (Optical Illusion), Simon Says Stamp 19/3 (Glitter It), Stamplorations March (Stamps and Spring)

Here’s my second post for the day … it’s a big thank you …

CASology 87, OCC CAS3 Day 3-2, SSSW 19-3

CASology’s cue card of ‘Blush’ was just the most perfect one for me this week, after my surprise event on Tuesday … who wouldn’t be blushing and flushed and delighted … and in need of saying ‘Thank You’!  So I have!  I used one of the techniques outlined by Jennifer at my Online Card Class for this mostly blush pink card.  Jennifer used dies to make her masks … as I don’t have such things (yet!), I drew what I wanted out on paper, cut a couple of masks with a craft knife and attached them to the card base with temporary adhesive.  Then I got to work with an Avery Elle set, stamping in pinks and greens, and creating a bloom filled banner frame.  Once it was all stamped, I sliced a Papertrey sentiment in two (you did what?  Yikes!), stacked it and stamped it into the middle of the banner.  The flowers looked a bit naked as they were, so I stamped a tiny Clearly Besotted seed head to the middle of each and then added Wink of Stella and Stickles to them to add sparkle.

As well as joining in with CASology‘s Blush challenge and linking up to the Online Card Class gallery, I’m also playing along at Simon Says Stamp Wednesday where the theme is Glitter It.

ETA:  Cornelia suggested that I also link this up with the Stamplorations‘ March Challenge, Stamps and Spring … so I am … thanks, Cornelia!

Off to do a few chores to deal with the seriously-in-need-of-cleaning-and-tidying house (I’ve been either renovating or having fun getting to visit lots of lots of you in blogland this week, so not a great deal of time for much else!).   I’ll be meandering around a little later to see what everyone’s been creating this weekend and to catch up some more.  Thanks so much for coming by, your visits and comments are always a joy!  Anita 🙂

Happy Birthday Maria, Online Card Class CAS 3 (Optical Illusion), Winnie & Walter Playdate #1, SSS Wednesday 19/3 (Glitter It), Winnie & Walter Join In To Win (March)

Today, we’re celebrating a rather special birthday with Maria from reislingmama, with a party organised by Shirley at shirley-bee … and I’m delighted to be partying along!  Maria’s an amazingly talented and published card maker, who always adds that certain unexpected something to her cards that make you go ‘wow’ … just go over and see!  I love to read her comments, both here and across blogland … apart from encouraging and supportive words, there’s always something in there to have to me smiling or falling about!  Mr Linky’s over at Shirley’s blog, so do pop over and enjoy the gallery of goodness on offer … or make a card yourself and join in the fun!  So, Happy, Happy Birthday, Maria … wishing you a day full of joy and laughter and a year ahead blessed with health and happiness!

Happy Birthday Maria, OCC CAS3 Day 3-3, W&W Playdate 1, SSSW 19-3, W&W JITW March

As Maria always has something unexpected about her cards, I thought I’d try it too … and have a go at creating an optical illusion by stamp layering (demonstrated by Laura on Day 3 of the Online Card Class CAS 3).  I masked off the edges of the card base, stamped the first layer of tiny dots with an Annabelle Stamps border, then used Winnie & Walter’s circles from Big Bang Confetti to create the bubbles.  The bubbles were done in outline first, then filled in with different coloured inks and liberally covered with Wink of Stella.  The HA sentiment was stamped over the top and the ‘lights’ in the ‘More’ were covered with Stickles.  You can just about see the shimmer and sparkle in the photo, but if you want to see it better, click to make it bigger, it’s more obvious!

As well as linking up to the gallery at Online Card Class CAS 3, I’m also playing along at Winnie & Walter’s first Playdate (check out the inspiration picture below … full of bubbles!), Simon Says Stamp Wednesday‘s Glitter It challenge and Winnie & Walter’s Join In To Win March party.

I have another card to post shortly, and hope to have one a little later too … depending on how many chores I get through and how the muse hits me!  Thanks so much for coming by, your visits and comments are always a joy!          playdate no.1 graphic-mar2014

Online Card Class CAS 3 (Faux Effects), SSS Work It Wednesday #2 (Use SSS Goodies), SSS Wednesday 19-3 (Glitter It), Winnie & Walter Join In To Win (March)

Here’s the last of the three cards I made following Days 1 and 2 of the Online Card Class CAS 3 (yes, I’m soooooo way behind!) … it shows the faux letterpress technique, demonstrated by Shari …

OCC CAS3 Day 1-3, SSS WIW 2, SSSW 19-3, W&WJITW March

I cut some strips of coloured card, adhered them to a sheet of copy paper to make a striped panel and cut a circle out of it.  The retro stars are from Winnie & Walter, first stamped in Versamark and then overstamped, slightly to the side of the Versamark, with Brilliance White to create the shadow effect.  On the base card, I sponged Tumbling Glass and Salty Ocean Distress Inks, cut an off-the-edge circle to match the striped one, and white embossed the W&W stars and Simon Says Stamp sentiment.  A lining paper was adhered to the inside of the card, I slotted the ‘planet’ into place, making sure it was well stuck down, and trimmed off the excess.  Finally, Wink of Stella was applied liberally to the stars … you can’t see it in the main picture, but here’s a close up where it’s just about visible … and I’ve just noticed, some of those stars do look as though they’re floating … cool effect, thanks Shari!

OCC CAS3 Day 1-3, SSS WIW 2, SSSW 19-3, W&WJITW March - Close Up

As well as linking this card up to the Online Card Class gallery, I’m also playing at Simon Says Stamp Work It Wednesday (use SSS Goodies), at Simon Says Stamp Wednesday‘s Glitter It week and at Winnie & Walter‘s March Join In To Win party.

I’ve done lots of lovely catching up, but there’s still plenty to do, so if I haven’t got to you yet, I will.  Hope also to be back with some more OCC homework over the weekend … first I’m going to see Days 3 to 10 to see what it is I’ve to try out!  Thanks so much for coming by, your visits and comments are always a joy!  Anita 🙂          Simon Wednesday Challenge Blog          w&w_blogblinkie

More Surprise Party Thanks, Online Card Class CAS 3 (Faux Effects), Winnie & Walter Playdate #1 and March Join In To Win, SSS Work It Wednesday #2 (Use SSS Goodies)

Last night, I spent such a magical and happy time meandering through the glorious gallery of cards you made for my big surprise (oh yes, a BIG, BIG one!) belated birthday party (organised by the awesome Bev and Darnell).  Truly, there hasn’t been an experience in my life like it … it was (and still is) so beyond amazing … seeing your cards, reading your wonderful, supportive, complimentary words and knowing your sweet wishes were flying to me through the ether… to say I was (and still am) feeling the love is an under-under-understatement!  I will treasure each moment and card forever … THANK YOU!

Many of you have already been over to see the gallery, but if you haven’t, do go and visit Darnell’s blog here (where Mr Linky is open till 1 April) … there are the most wonderful cards to drool over and be inspired by!  I’ll be putting each one onto a (very) special board on Pinterest so they’ll be with me always 🙂 .   You’ll know that I have lots and lots of fun visiting to do and emails to send (you know who you are!) … please bear with me … whilst it’ll take me a while to get to everyone, I promise I’ll get there!  Thanks so much for your patience and understanding as I do!  🙂

OCC CAS3 Day 1-1, W&W Playdate 1, SSS WIW 2

I mentioned the other day, I’d made a few cards for Day 1 of the Online Card Class – Clean and Simple 3 … and this is the second one.  It shows faux metal effects, as demonstrated by Kristina … actually it’s an almost complete CASE.  I loved the bubbles of colour floating across her card, and used solid circles from Winnie & Walter and Papertrey to mimic them.  The silver star-in-the-bubble was done with four layers of embossing powder and a W&W star stamp pressed into it (coated with versamark first).  To me, these fun bubbles shout happy … hence the Simon Says Stamp sentiment … and as that’s what you’ve shared with me so particularly this week, I’d like to share it right back with you too … wishing you lots and lots of happy, my friends!

As well as linking this to the Online Card Class gallery, I’m also playing along with Winnie & Walter’s Playdate, a brand new, bright and sparkly challenge (check out that bubbly background below!), and with Simon Says Stamp Work It Wednesday, where we’re using SSS brand goodies.

ETA:  Oops, forgot, this card is also going to Winnie & Walter’s March Join In To Win party.

I’ll be back in a very short while with another card … a birthday one for one of the sweetest souls in blogland!  Thanks so much, as ever, for coming by,  your visits and comments are always a joy!  Anita 🙂          playdate no.1 graphic-mar2014          w&w_blogblinkie

Online Card Class CAS 3 (Faux Effects), Color Throwdown #283 (Basic Grey, Certainly Celery, Tangerine Tango), Winnie & Walter Join In To Win (March)

I’ve been wondering where I’ve been for a while … certainly not card making … until yesterday afternoon, that is, when I had a few hours away from ‘life’ to sit and play.  I made a few cards, this was the second (but I’m posting it first as I’m about to run out of time on one of the challenges) …

OCC CAS3 Day 1-2, CT 283, W&W JITW March

I’m taking the latest Online Card Class, Clean and Simple 3 (One Layer Cards).  Well, when I say taking, what I really mean to say is I enrolled.  So far I’ve managed to fit in viewing Day 1 videos (from last Monday) and Day 2’s extra inspiration … the theme was faux effects, with three different techniques showcased … this one is inset die cuts.  I used the colours from Color Throwdown (Grey, Celery, Tangerine) and as I used a couple of my fabulous Winnie & Walter words, I’m linking up at their Join In To Win party.

I’m the proud owner of just two sets of dies … one of them is snowflakes, so not really perfect for spring (although I can feel those of you still in the midst of the white stuff shaking your heads at that) … the second is Clearly Besotted’s Geometric Style.  So it was Hobson’s choice if I was going to try out this technique.  I did a sketch of the layout and starting from the right, die cut each rectangle.  The rectangles were coloured with Promarkers, overstamped with one of the companion stamps and fitted back into the spaces.  There’s a piece of light card on the inside, well covered with adhesive, to keep them in place.  We’re supposed to use an inset die cut word for the class, but as I don’t have one, I stamped/embossed the sentiment (having compensated by making a fairly complex pattern already!).

I’m off to get this linked before the door closes (in just minutes!).  Thanks so much for coming by, your visits and comments are always a joy!  Anita 🙂                    w&w_blogblinkie

CAS(E) this Sketch #47, Runway Inspired Challenge #45, Simon Says Stamp Monday 30/9 (Say it with Stamps), Insider Online Card Class Day 2

I haven’t played along at CAS(E) this Sketch for a while so I’m really pleased to be squeaking in at the last minute today using Chrissy Larsson’s fun sketch (turned landscape).  The Runway Inspired Challenge is one I’ve followed for some time, although until now hadn’t joined in with … but as this week’s catwalk photograph gave me one of those oh-my-goodness-not-if-but-when card making moments … I used it as my inspiration.  The ‘Say it with Stamps’ challenge at Simon Says Stamp Monday fits in happily alongside the other two, and I’m also adding my card to the Insider Online Card Class Day 2 Gallery … taking the outside of your card to the inside …

          Simon Monday Challenge Blog

This is a new technique for me … it’s one Laura Bassen showed us in the Insider Online Card Class, and uses a clear panel to allow the inside of a card to feature as much as the outside.  I made the inside first, using markers and a ruler (!) to draw the coloured stripes (to match those on the dress), and then added the PTI ‘thank you’.    For the card front, I stamped the black stripes onto a white card panel, cut a clear panel to size and adhered one to the other.  The front and back of the card were then adhered together along the top, just behind the fold line.  My finishing touch was to add a curved panel of pearlised silver card to pick up the style of that oh so cool purse/handbag in the photo.

I’m delighted to say hello to new follower, Nicky …. a white-space-loving CAS card maker and stamper, who’s been pulled away from her blog for a while by other commitments.  She’ll be joining us in blogland again before too long and when that happens, I’ll add a link so you can go for a visit and explore.  Welcome Nicky, and thank you!

Busy day ahead … I’ve been fending it off to get this post done … can’t keep it at bay any longer!  Thanks so much for coming by, as ever, your visits and comments are a joy!  Anita 🙂

Muse #36 (Karen M), One Layer Wednesday #159 (Free For All), Simon Says Stamp Wednesday 25/9 (Anything Goes), Simon Says Stamp (Stamptember), Online Card Class (Insider)

Made it … phew … back for another post with my second card of the day.  The lovely and talented Karen from Made by Meadie is the Guest Designer at Muse this week and has given us the most gorgeous inspiration card (a bit like all her cards really) … if you haven’t wandered round Karen’s blog, go have a visit, there’s a generous helping of splendid deliciousness waiting for you.  At One Layer Wednesday, Karen from Snippets is the host and has set us a wide open challenge … Free For All … very cool.  I’m also entering Simon Says Stamp Wednesday‘s Anything Goes challenge and Simon Says Stamp’s Stamptember Event.  Finally, as I’ve used a little of my learning from Day 1 of the Insider Online Card Class, this is going in the Gallery there too …

I followed Karen’s muse quite faithfully … I haven’t done very much spongeing or stamping like this, so it was really good to play.  I masked off the centre of the card, sponged it with blue and aqua and then stamped the Annabelle Stamps flower clusters … some in lavender to give a very slight shadow and some in a darker blue for a more pronounced one.  The nearest clusters were stamped with white versamark, embossed in white (with shimmery bits in).  I used a ruler to draw the lines top and bottom and finally added the sentiment.

As with my last card, I did a little something on the inside … sponged a scrap of card, stamped the flower cluster, nestled the second part of the sentiment close to the blooms, trimmed it and edged it in black before popping it up on dimensionals.

One last thing … I’d like to say a big THANK YOU to my fellow Muse players for the Honorable Mention for my flower card last week … I so appreciate it 🙂

That’s my card making weekend complete … I’m off for a meander around blogland.  Thanks so much for coming by, your visits and comments are always a delight!  Anita 🙂

CASology #63 (Autumn), CAS-ual Fridays #115 (Fall Colours and a Leaf), Addicted to CAS #23 (Autumn/Fall), Paper Smooches SPARKS 23/9 (Picture Perfect), Simon Says Stamp, Insider Online Card Class

Monsieur Mojo ran away from home this week … think he was fed up of trying to work in an exhausted brain … so he left.  This morning he came back and took up residence again.  It’s taken him a while this afternoon, but all credit to him … he’s come up with a card that’s so amiable it’ll be happy in lots of environments …

Simon Wednesday Challenge Blog          Simon Says Stamp Blog

I was inspired by Ardyth’s DT card at CASology … that wonderful cascade of leaves and those gorgeous colours … so I did something similar.  My leaves are slightly different in that as well as tumbling down the card, they tumble from summer greens to autumn oranges and reds.  I stamped the same colours round the edges of the base card, to mirror the change of seasons on the leaf panel, and added the sentiment in Expresso Truffle.   All the stamps are from Paper Smooches … the leaf is one of those easily overlookable little images in Vogue Abode.

As a rule, that would be my card done, but not at the moment.  I enrolled on my first Online Card Class a short while ago (Insider) and it’s been going on this week … mostly without me (given M Mojo’s absence and the lack of functioning brain).  However, I have seen a few of the videos … they’re awesome … stunning and clever ideas for taking your design to the inside of the card.  So I’m putting what I’ve learned so far into practice here in a very small way … having tumbled, the leaves are all now in a neat pile in the bottom corner … and I added a little more gratitude with a supplementary sentiment.  I wanted to add ‘thanks piles’  but don’t have a stamp like that … and anyway, I wouldn’t want anyone to misinterpret a message like that … I know you wouldn’t at all, but imagine, the very thought.

I did say this card would fit in well in so many places … so it’s going on a bit of a tour … CASology – Autumn, CAS-ual Fridays – Fall Colours and a Leaf, Addicted to CAS – Autumn/Fall, Paper Smooches Sparks – Picture Perfect, Simon Says Stamp Wednesday – Anything Goes, Simon Says Stamp – Stamptember, Insider Online Card Class Gallery … phew!

I’m making the most of MM’s continued presence so should be back later with another card …  for now I’m starting the linking marathon!  Thanks so much for coming by, your visits and comments are always a joy!  Anita 🙂
