I’m just about making it to The Alley Way Stamps‘ third birthday party … didn’t realise it wasn’t a late night soirée, otherwise I’d wouldn’t have pootled around quite as much as I did before getting here. TAWS is sharing the limelight with Colour Q this week … the palette is a great one (and it’s a gorgeous inspiration photo), but it isn’t a natural colour choice for me at all, which is why I’m playing along … stretching a horizon or two.
ETA: Thanks to a suggestion from Ardyth, I’m also adding this as a second entry to CASology‘s Bubbly challenge … now why didn’t I think of that?! Thanks, my friend!
The dotty image is a TAWs border one, stamped numerous times to create the front panel. I coloured the dots randomly with Promarkers and in some of the ones left blank, I added copious layers of Wink of Stella, covered with Glossy Accents, to give a bit of sheen and shine. That made me more comfortable with the palette … it’s so not my usual one that I don’t even possess any burgundy … at all … not a drop, swoosh, snip or morsel. So the burgundy dots were mixed on the card … powder blue first followed by cardinal red … looks about right from here. I stamped the Hero Arts sentiment on the card base, edged the top of the dotty panel with a black strip, and popped up the panel on foam dots. Could this be a guy card, even with the shimmer?
Need to go and get linked up before the door finally closes at TAWS … be back shortly with a little something else. Thanks so much for coming by, your visits and comments are always a delight! Anita 🙂
It’s recipe week at Less is More, and Chrissie and Jen have chosen String or Twine as our theme. At The Alley Ways Stamps, the inspiration photo is an orange and black Halloween scene … as some of you know, I don’t really do Halloween, so I focused just on the colours. Simon Says Stamp Monday and Simon Says Stamp Wednesday both have Anything Goes challenges this week, so I’m submitting there too …
I stamped the birds, trimmed them out and coloured them with Promarkers in different shades of orange. He’s sporting Glossy Accented eyes and a tufty twine crest while she’s gone to town on the heavy lidded googly eyes (elegant or what?). I embossed the background and a branch, and popped the birds up on foam dots. The sentiment and row of hearts were the final touch.
Now I need to get this in to LIM ’cause time’s rapidly running out … after that I’m off to meander through some inspiration around the blogosphere. Thanks so much for coming by, your visits and comments really are a joy! Anita 🙂
I’ve a fun little card to share today … it’s for four challenges (yes, I know, four!) … CASology, where the theme is ‘Fish’, Jackie’s fabulous sketch at CAS(E) this Sketch, The Alley Way Stamps Be Inspired picture challenge and Jen’s Happy Birthday celebration at Less is More (where Jen’s told us she’d use cats, fish or butterflies on a card for herself) … so here are some fish …
The images and sentiment are all from TAWs … the ocean waves were stamped and then I did a little sponging over the top. The fish were coloured with Promarkers, trimmed out, jazzed up a bit (because they’re tropical) with a little glitter and popped up on dimensionals. Lastly, I added the sentiment to wish Jen a Happy Birthday … enjoy it Jen!
I’ll be wandering through blogland a little later, so may see you there … for now I’m off to a barbeque … I’m going to stand next to it to keep warm!! Thanks so much for coming by, your visits and comments are always a joy! Anita 🙂
Today I have a card to share for two challenges (yes, MM and MI are up to co-operating again after their efforts yesterday). The amazing Therese Calvird has created a cute and fun inspiration card for us this week at Muse … and for the first time, I’m playing along at The Alley Way Stamps (although I have been enjoying looking for a few weeks). This is my combined offering …
… and here’s the inspiration …
I love Therese’s stacked elephants and paper piecing, and the striped vanilla, pink and light tan bedding just blew me away … wouldn’t a bedroom in those ice-cream colours be so deliciously restful and calm? Sigh.
I started with three different DPs and made the background panel using strips to (roughly) match the bedding. Then I printed out the cute little bird image from TAWS (a freebie as I don’t have any of their real stamps … yet), one on each DP, and trimmed them out. Their stick legs had to go in the trimming (have you ever tried cutting out stick legs?), so I drew them back in once they were attached to their panel. The sentiment was done on the computer (Skinny Latte font) and the triple row of twine serves a couple of purposes … it’s something for the stack of birds to stand on, and more importantly, it hides the join in the panel where I made a big boo-boo and had to cut off the original sentiment. Finally, both panels were popped up on dimensionals.
I’m off to link (Muse finishes very shortly!) … looking forward to seeing what everyone else has created a little later. Thanks so much for popping in, your visits and comments warm my heart! Anita 🙂
