Unscripted Sketches #193, CR84FN70 (Aqua, Tan, Light Yellow)

What a fabulous sketch at Unscripted Sketches this week, that lends itself to something CAS-ish  … and equally fabulous inspiration from the design team!  I’ve worked with the colours from CR84FN which are so deliciously gentle and pastel-y … Aqua, Tan and Light Yellow.

I stuck faithfully to the sketch, using tan polka dot paper as my base.  The daisies were punched out of white card, had the stem and leaves doodled and were mounted onto three different shades of aqua (IRL much more vibrant than they appear). I stamped the sentiment, matted it onto light yellow and coloured the daisy.  Gems for the flower centres finished it off.

As you can see, I’m having a bit of a challenge trying to get aqua to show well in the photo (had the same thing the other day with this card) … even when I do some tweaking on Picasa … if anyone can shed some light on what I can do, I’d be grateful!

That’s it for tonight … it’s been a lovely party day today with lots of cards and photo’s to enjoy at MASKerade … so to Ardyth for setting it up and to everyone else who posted for Darnell and Kevin’s celebration, thank you … what a fun time!  Thanks so much for coming by … Anita 🙂

Unscripted Sketches #192, Play Date Café #163 (Champagne, Sky Blue, Tangerine)

Oops … nearly missed the deadline for Play Date Café … it’s at 6.00am tomorrow our time and as I need to sleep before then, this is a very quick post!  So, the colours at PDC are Champagne, Sky Blue and Tangerine and I combined it with Unscripted Sketches.  BTW, I’d like to say a very BIG thank you to the lovely DT at US for choosing my card (here) last week as a Top 3 … I’m so delighted and I’m proudly displaying the blinkie!  Here’s this week’s offering:

US192, PDC163

SK 160 US 192

It’s mostly sky blue and champage, with just a touch of tangerine in the flower.  It’s done with die cuts … one of each colour in diminishing sizes.  I rolled the petals to add dimension and the centre is a blingy brad in tangerine.

It’s nearly midnight so I’m off to bed … thank you so much for coming for a visit and especially so if you’ve had chance to make a comment below … Anita 🙂

Unscripted Sketches #191, Ellen Hutson LLC Hero Arts Clear Take ‘n Make, CASology Favorites

I’ve a card to share with you this evening and then if you feel like scrolling down a bit further, there’s a touch of CASology Favorites to play with.  Here’s the card and also a picture of the HA stamps I used …

US191 & HA2013T&M

          HA2013T&M Stamps

The card’s for Unscripted Sketches, which I didn’t get to last week so it’s good to be back, and for Ellen Hutson LLC Hero Arts Clear Take ‘n Make, that I only recently discovered via my good friend Geri at Manitoba Stamper (thanks Geri!).  I stuck pretty much to the sketch and used HA stamps for the image and sentiment.

I stamped the bird five times on white, coloured all but one in yellow, leaving the one to stand out as different by using blue and a couple of gems.  Then came the sentiment (which was masked as I only used part of it) cut into a banner, and layers came next to frame the image.  It was all mounted on a swiss dots embossed panel, and the final touch was the three white gems.  It’s not as CAS as my usual offerings but I’m content … sometimes it’s good to do something different, it gets those little grey cells going!  Anyway, I like the message!  Recipe is at the bottom.

I spent a very happy few hours yesterday and today meandering through the last six months entries at CASology … there’s a favorites week rather than a cue card at the moment, with easy peasy access to all 24 weeks since the challenge first started in July.  It’s been extra fab for me ’cause not only did I get chance to have a review of everything since I started playing in October (a few weeks into blogworld), but I had the joy of checking out all the stuff I hadn’t seen before.

So WOW, WOW, WOW … to say that I am awe struck by the incredible creativity and talent that is out there is a smidgy bit of an understatement  … I could have ‘favorited’ so many … some already winners or honorable mentions, some not.  In the end I finally chose and linked one that was perfectly CAS, beautifully executed and made me laugh out loud as soon as I saw it … it’s Shirley’s Hello Birdie from Week 4, and it’s here, take a look if you feel like a chuckle!

There were a whole load of others too, so I thought I’d put the links on here for you to have a look at (if you want to be awe struck and inspired too!).  In no particular order …

Rosemary’s Sparkle Tree       Geri’s Leaf Trees       Ardyth’s Orange Orange!

Jenny’s Sweet Fruit       Melissa’s Time’s Fun When You’re Having Flies

Darnell’s Green Pear         Claire’s Leaf Frame      Tracey’s Shoe Trick or Treat

Jen’s Thanks Lifesaver          Donna’s White Landscape

So to Melissa (Creator/Co-ordinator), Ardyth, Jen, Rosemary and Tracey (the Design Team)… an enormous THANK YOU for such a great challenge and consistently inspiring examples … I so appreciate what you all do 🙂  Also, to my fellow CASologists thank you so much for sharing your ideas and skill … I am inspired by you all 🙂

Looking forward to tomorrow’s announcement about which of you talented people have joined the Design Team.  I’m off to make a card … if I don’t use up some of that download of inspiration, I’ll explode!  Thanks so much for coming by, and especially so if you’ve had chance to make a comment below, it’s a delight to read your feedback … Anita 🙂

Unscripted Sketches #189 & Addicted to CAS #3

US189 & ATCAS3

Isn’t Christmas coming along at a gallop?  In between all the preparations and life as usual, I had a quiet pause (phew, a moment to draw breath!) to play along with a couple of challenges.  At Unscripted Sketches, there’s an optional piggyback challenge,  which is to alter the circle and make it a unique focal point, and at Addicted to CAS, the code word is ‘Sweet’.

Luckily, this cupcake stamp (which is also Christmassy … take a look, there’s holly and mince pies!) arrived as a freebie recently and it rather fits the bill.  I cut a circle, stamped and coloured the image (check out the sprinkles), then ‘altered’ it with a scalloped circle mat (it reminds me of a cupcake case seen from above!).  White thread was wrapped around the base card and the image was attached with with foam dots.  The sentiment was also matted and popped up, and a few strategically placed gems finished it off.  So, sweet cupcakes and sweet sentiment!

Supplies:  Cardstock: Docrafts, Stash,  Stamp: Freebie,  Ink: Stazon,  Colours: Promarkers,  Sentiment: Pink Petticoat,  Thread: Stash,  Gems:  Papermania,  Tools:  Cricut, Accent Essentials Cartridge, Martha Stewart Circle Cutter.

Lots to do, so I’m keeping this short and sweet (!) … hope you’re having a splendid week.  Thanks so much for coming by … Anita 🙂

Unscripted Sketches #188 & Addicted to CAS #2

US188 & ATCAS2

Dreaming of a White Christmas?  Me too (but it’s highly unlikely!) … and it’s only just over a week to go … yay … yikes … how did that happen?!  Anyway, with this card, I’ve gone for white, white white … with a smidgy bit of silver … it’s for Unscripted Sketches, where there are some brilliant sketches you can access when inspiration is a little AWOL, and Addicted to CAS, which is being hosted this time by the multi-talented Marie, and where the code word is Bauble.

I’ve not made a white Christmas card before, but quite liked the idea … I did the border cut first and then embossed the panel … that way it kept the border unembossed and unadorned.  The baubles are die cut and the touch of silver is in the cord (which hasn’t come out very silvery at all in the picture) and in the little dots on the baubles, done with a gel pen (the dots tie the baubles together with the Swiss Dots embossing and the border holes).  I popped the baubles up on the panel and popped the panel up on the card … the ‘over the edge’ bauble has double foam dots to keep it up there with the others.  There you have it … White Christmas!

Here’s what I used:  Cardstock: Crafter’s Companion,  Border:  Fiskars,  Embossing: Cuttlebug,  Folder: Swiss Dots,  Die Cuts:  Cricut, Lyrical Letters Cartridge,  Gel Pen: Pilot,  Cord: Stash

I hope you’ve had some creative time amid all the Christmas preparations … thanks so much for coming by, and especially so if you’ve had chance to make a comment … Anita 🙂

Unscripted Sketches #187

This is my final rush to a deadline this week … and it’s for Unscripted Sketches.  If you haven’t been for a visit, do go and check out all the wonderful examples from the Design Team, as well as every sketch there has been since the very beginning … what a resource for ideas… this is #187!

My card is a slight variation on a theme, because I used a circle rather than an oval, but the gist of the sketch is there.  I tried a couple of new things with the embossing and inking.  The embossing folder is Swiss Dots, but it doesn’t look like it … it was run through the Cuttlebug once, then displaced, and run through again … I thought it’d be snow-ish!  The snowman was coloured with Promarkers and then I used a sponge that already had plenty of dried ink on it …  it took on a whole new boost of energy once spritzed (wouldn’t it be good if spritzing worked that well for us too!).  I just dabbed it really lightly around the circle and the ‘sky’ … the aim was to create a sense of movement with the mottling (a bit like a snowglobe) … it’s not too clear in the small photo, but it’s much better on the bigger one!  I’ve done very little inking and am always impressed by the examples I find out in blogland, so it was good to have a bit of an experiment and see what I could do … I’m not unhappy with the results!

Here’s what I used:  Cardstock: Docrafts, Crafter’s Companion,  Embossing: Cuttlebug/Swiss Dots EF,  Image: Debbi Moore Designs,  Colours: Promarkers,  Ink: Marvy le Plume Watercolour Pen, Baker’s Twine: Stash.

That’s it for now, I’ll be back tomorrow with an offering for CASology.  In the meantime, thanks so much for coming by … Anita 🙂

Unscripted Sketches #186, Addicted to CAS #1 (Snow), Less is More #95 (Glamour and Glitz), CAS-ual Fridays #79 (Winter Blues)

We'd love you to display our banner

Firstly today, a huge Thank You to CASology, and especially to Rosemary on the Design Team, for  an Honorable Mention in last week’s challenge where the cue card was ‘Gobble’.  I’m so proud to display the badge here 🙂   I do love this challenge … the cue cards are always fun and imaginative and really push you to come up with something creative … and the examples from the super talented Design Team are so inspiring.  If, by any chance you haven’t been over for a visit, and you enjoy CAS (or aspire to it!), do pop over and have a browse, you won’t be able to not be inspired!  (Actually, try any of the challenges on my side bar, they’re all pretty wonderful!)

I have a card to share with you today which started off just for Unscripted Sketches … as it came together, I also realised it would work for Addicted to CAS (Snow) … then it morphed to fit with ‘Glamour and Glitz’ at Less is More … and it finally ended up also matching up with ‘Winter Blues’ at CAS-ual Fridays!  Now, it’s probably a bit early to say but I think I may just have the early signs of Multi-Challengitis … and I’m not sure there’s any cure … what fun!!  All the images are die cuts from glitter card … I trimmed the ‘snowflake chains’ (well they do look a bit like daisy chains!) to different lengths, coloured the back with different shades of blue, threaded them onto baker’s twine and left them to ‘hang’ rather then fixing them down.  With the bigger flakes I fixed one flat to the card and the remaining two on different depths of foam dots.  Some bling finished them off.

Recipe:  Cardstock: Crafter’s Companion, Stash,  Twine:  Stash,  Colours: Promarkers,  Die Cuts: Cricut, Stretch Your Imagination and Accent Essentials Cartridges.

Hope you’re having a fabulous week … thanks so much for coming by … Anita 🙂

Later Edit … I’m having trouble linking to LIM and ATCAS for some reason … inlinks tells me they’re already there when they’re not (or at least I can’t see them!!) … I’ll try to link again later, perhaps the ethernet will have calmed down by then and may be more accepting!
