Twofer Card Challenge #38 – Cake/Cupcake

Hello … bonjour! Welcome to our yummy new Twofer challenge for May, where we’re inviting you to dig out your scrumptious stamps, dies and/or stencils and join us to enjoy some …

That yummy looking cake stamp (the common image on both cards) is from Reverse Confetti … it appears just as intended (along with one of it’s accompanying alligators) on my birthday card … and on the hello card, it’s been dressed up with the help of a little masking and subsequent doodling! How about a closer look at each one …

The central design here ensures the cake is the star of the show. It was masked and stamped onto some mixed media card stock, I doodled those extra layers of chocolate ganache and the cherry on the top … and coloured it with alcohol markers. There are lavish coatings of shimmer and shine on the ganache and cherry too … tricky to capture … and more visible on the first photo. The two word sentiment is shared between Simon Says Stamp and Winnie & Walter (sadly NLIB). The panel was mounted onto a couple of layers of vellum, popped up on craft foam and adhered to a mixed media card base that had been embossed with a Spellbinders die. You’ll notice that the vellum went a smidgy bit wobbly round the edges after it was dry … must be all that luscious ganache that did it … couldn’t have been anything to do with the wet adhesive I used!

My second card is clean, fun and whimsical …

Another simple design, with the heat embossed images and sentiment laid out along the bottom half of a watercolour card base. Everything was coloured with Zigs and a water brush … and I gave the alligator a dry embossed pathway to walk on … firstly to ground him … and secondly so he could advance on that birthday cake easily!

How about choosing a cake/cupcake image from your stash … to make two distinctly different designs … for two different occasions … we’d love to see you (and your cards) in our gallery!  All the details, rules and FAQs are over at the Twofer blog … together with heaps of delicious inspiration from the DT as well as from our super talented Guest Designer, Janet from Swanlady Impressions. Do go and have a gentle meander around Janet’s blog … there’s so much loveliness to enjoy and be inspired by … and you can always say hello while you’re there!

Twofer Card Challenge #37 Reminder – Leaves

Hello … bonjour! I’m popping by with some more inspiration to tempt you to play along with us at Twofer this month … there’s a whole week left for you to join in with …

Once again, as with my first set of Twofer cards last week, my common images here are those delicate Eucalyptus die cuts from Simply Graphic … one for a birthday, one as a spirit lifter. Let’s have a closer look at each one …

This is a deliciously clean design, with the leaves cut in gold and pink, growing right next to the crisp white Concord & 9th stacked die cut. The supplementary sentiment is from Simply Graphic … it’s embossed in white and translates to ‘it’s your day’. The frame was embossed with a Reverse Confetti square die … I don’t have a rectangular one, so did a little extending (similar to partial die cutting).

My second card, while still clean, is a little more layered …

This design began with a sponged panel of Bristol card … in every green Distress Ink hue in my possession. I die cut seven of the open eucalyptus leaves from the different colours and layered them up round a Concord & 9th stitched circle die cut (to guide the shape) … and adhered the circle to the card base. The sentiment was stamped in navy inside the spring wreath (it’s from The Greetery) … and I finished with some tiny blue gems to mimic berries.

So … have you played along with us at Twofer this month?  If you haven’t, why not give it a go … and if you have, do feel free to play again.  We’d love to see your two distinctly different takes on Leaves.  All the details, rules and FAQs are over at the Twofer blog … along with inspiration galore, both from the wonderful DT and from our talented Guest Designers, Alison from Cranberry and Eggplant and Natalie from natshobbycorner at Instagram.  Look forward to seeing you in our gallery!

A New Challenge At Time Out – #133 – Embellishments (Two Or More)

Hello … bonjour!  We’ve just started our delicious new challenge at Time Out … this fortnight we have a theme for you … it’s Embellishments (Two Or More) … with the option of making a one layer card.  Here’s where I went with it …

As you can see, I decided not to go for the one layer option, but created lots of dimension in my smooshed and splattered leafy wreath, with three layers of the Memory Box Stitched Maple Circle Frame (thanks, Jeanne!), all intertwined and popped up on foam dots.  Even though these lovely leaves are maple, they put me in mind of the vines that surround us … hence my colour palette of spring-fresh greens and purples.  Yes, I know the pearly ‘grapes’ look almost black, but they really are purple (see just below, you can see the hint of colour!).  The sentiment is from Reverse Confetti, stamped and white heat embossed onto some coloured card stock, die cut with a Hero Arts Infinity circle die and adhered flat inside the wreath.  I used a miniscule gem to top the i in beautiful … my second embellishment.

How will you interpret our Embellishments (Two Or More) theme … and will you use our optional one layer twist?  There are so many different goodies you can use to dress up your card … we’d love to see what you create in our gallery.  This fortnight, we’re sponsored by Birch Press Design who are offering a $20 GV to a randomly drawn player who uses the one layer option.  As usual, our overall winner will be chosen by the DT … and will be invited to guest design with us in a future challenge.  Details are over at the Time Out blog … along with loads of lovely inspiration from our brilliant DT … from the amazing Jeanne, who is on the Birch Press Design Team and blogs at A Kept Life … and from our talented and returning Guest Designer, Andrea at K and A Creative Moments.  Why not pop over for a visit with Jeanne and Andrea … you’ll love what you find … and you can always say hello while you’re there!

A New Challenge At Time Out – #126 – We Challenge You To Be … Loving

Hello … bonjour … and Happy New Year … Bonne Année!  I do hope you spent a truly joyful Christmas and celebrated the start of 2019 in a way that was just right for you.  Thanks so much for being here during the last year … friends, followers and silent viewers … your enthusiasm, encouragement,  warmth and support is so appreciated … thank you.  I’m looking forward to another year of fun … and mutual creativity and inspiration with you all.  Today, I’m here with our first challenge of the year at Time Out … this fortnight We Challenge You To Be … Loving!  The first thing that popped into my mind when I thought of ‘Loving’ was hearts … here’s what I came up with …

I stamped the deliciously sweet sentiment from Reverse Confetti onto a white linen card panel and accented it with Poppy Stamps‘ embossed stitched lines and die cut hearts.  The panel was adhered to the card base and I ran a black fine line pen along the edges to give it definition.  The hearts were ombré coloured with alcohol markers, shimmered up with Spectrum Noir Clear Sparkle and given a top coat of shine with Glossy Accents.  Once dry, they were popped up on foam dots into the die cut spaces along the stitched lines … and I added an extra couple at the side of that lovely sentiment to keep it company!  How about a closer look at the concentrated shimmer and shine …

Where will our challenge take you … why not let your creative imagination roam free and see where it goes … we’d love to see what you make!  This time round, we’re sponsored by Birch Press Design … our  winner, as voted for by the DT, will receive a $20 GC … and as usual, will be invited to guest design with us in a future challenge.  All the details are over at Time Out, along with heaps of inspiration from our brilliant DT … and from our talented Guest Designer, Jane from Purplejet Loves Crafts.  Why not pop over and have a wander round Jane’s blog … there’s tons of loveliness to enjoy … and you can always say hello while you’re there!

A New Challenge At Time Out – #109 – Inspired By Words

Hello … bonjour!   Joyeux Fête de l’Ascension … Blessed Feast of the Ascension!  Welcome to a delicious new challenge at Time Out … this fortnight, we’re inviting you to be Inspired By Words … friends are the charming gardners who make our souls blossom … I was inspired thus …

Time OutI focused on the first and last words … friends and blossom .. and made a one layer card using the gorgeous Flourish stamp set from Concord & 9th … a long-been-in-my-wish-book, recent addition to my stash.  The sentiment is from Reverse Confetti.  To finish, I added a scattering of sequins, some of which cover a smudge made just as the card was finished.  I’m so grateful for sequins, gems and all other kind of boo-boo covering embellishments!

Where will our words take your creative imagination?  You can use any or all of them to inspire your card … we’d love if it you joined us in the gallery.  We’re sponsored by STAMPlorations this time round, thanks to Shery  … our overall winner (as voted for by the DT) will receive a $15 GC … and will also be invited to design with us in a future challenge.  In addition, there will be a random draw for a STAMPlorations goodie bag.  All the details are over at Time Out, along with a heaps of lovely inspiration from our fabulous DT … as well as from our wonderfully talented Guest Designer, Kristina from Kristina’s Art Corner.   Why not pop over for a visit and enjoy a gentle meander through all the scrumptious cards and awesome colouring over at her blog … you could say hello while you’re there too!

A New Challenge at Time Out – #99 New Beginnings

Hello … bonjour!  Hope your Christmas preparations are coming along nicely.  Before all the joyful excitement begins, we have a fabulous new challenge starting today at Time Out … this fortnight we have a theme for you … New Beginnings … with the optional twist of using your Christmas goodies for this non Christmas theme.  I chose to twist this time around (with the joyeux part of my sentiment) … and made this pretty little number …

Time OutThe wonky stitched panel is from MFT (Lake House stash) … it’s heat embossed in silver with a floral spray from Reverse Confetti … and is coloured with Zigs and a water brush.  The first part of the sentiment is from a Christmas SSS die (it also has Noël), cut from silver card … and the stamped element is from Papertrey and is heat embossed in silver.  I scattered a few sequins (filled with Stickles) and mounted the panel on craft foam on the card base.  There’s a party surprise on the inside … it’s my version of Ellen Hutson’s Confetti Flinger!  I loved the idea after seeing the amazing Jennifer McGuire showcase it not long ago, so made my own.  It was so much fun on Tuesday evening, watching the surprise on the recipient’s face when all the starry confetti came flying out!   I’m really sorry there’s no photo … try as I might, capturing that flying confetti was beyond the camera’s capacity … and my skills!  Do check out Jennifer’s video, though, it’ll give you the idea … the impact is fantastic!

Where will our theme take you … and will you go with our distressing twist?  Whichever way you choose, we’d love to see what you create in our gallery.  We’re sponsored this fortnight by Happy Little Stampers (thanks, Kylie), who are offering a $15 GC to a random twister.  As usual, our overall winner, as voted for by the DT, will be invited to guest design with us in a future challenge.  All the details are over at the Time Out blog … along with heaps of inspiration from our brilliant DT … and from our talented Guest Designer, Patty from PJ’s Projects. Why not pop over and have a visit with Patty … you’ll find heaps of fabulous, fun, bright, happy cards to enjoy … and you can leave her some love while you’re there!

Guest Designing at Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge – November 2017 – Week 2

         wed-designerspotlight-header

Hello … bonjour!  Thank you so much for all your lovely words about my tags last week … it’s so exciting to be back for the second time with the Design Team at Simon Says Stamp Wednesday as Guest Designer for November!

wed-newchallenge-header50dollar_voucher_600px          Simon Says Stamp

Our new challenge this week is ‘Snow White‘ … and we’re showcasing products from Reverse Confetti.  You don’t need to use Reverse Confetti goodies to join in … but we’d love to see them if you have some!  As always, if you play along, you’re in with a chance of winning a $50 gift voucher to spend at the fabulous Simon Says Stamp store … wouldn’t that be fun!

I have to admit to having no Reverse Confetti goodies in my stash (yet!) that would be a good fit for the theme … though a sweet friend sent me some Lacy Scalloped Frames recently (merci mille fois, Michele!), that happened to come in so handy for my first card …

This glorious centrepiece is Simon’s Eliza Snowflake die … cut twice in glitter card and twice in plain card, sandwiched together with a fine silver thread running down the centre, to make a double sided embellishment.   The aperture was cut with an MFT Circle Stax 2 die in both the Lacy Scalloped Frame and the card base … and the snowflake was suspended between them.  It twirls on the thread … wish you could see it as it does, it’s so pretty the way it catches the light!  I finished with a sentiment from Simon … the die cut is from Christmas Blessings, the secondary stamped ones (in Delicata Silver ink) are from Thoughtful Messages.  Even though I can’t show you the movement here, I can show you all the shimmer …

My second card is snowy rather than shimmery …

Again, the aperture was cut with an MFT Circle Stax 2 die in the front panel and the card base … this time I added some snowy mesh to the background and created a little village scene, cut  with Simon Village dies, layered up on craft foam.  The sentiment is stamped in Delicata Silver ink and is from Scandinavian Prints Christmas by Neat & Tangled.  This is the day time view … how about a look at the warm and rather magical night time view …

If you haven’t already been, do go over to Simon Says Stamp Wednesday to check out all the gorgeous cards from the Design Team … you’ll be inspired!  Hope you’ll have chance to join in with us this week … a few more additions to your Christmas card stack perhaps?  Thanks so much for coming by, your visits and comments are always a joy!    Anita 🙂
