Guest Designing at Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge – November 2017 – Week 3

         wed-designerspotlight-header

Hello … bonjour!  I’m so grateful for your visits and sweet words about my Snow White cards last week … merci mille fois … and am thrilled to be here for the third time with the DT at Simon Says Stamp Wednesday as their Guest Designer for November!wed-newchallenge-header50dollar_voucher_600px          Simon Says Stamp

Our new challenge this week is ‘Furry Friends‘ … and we’re showcasing products from Newton’s Nook.  You don’t need to use Newton’s Nook goodies to join in … but we’d love to see them if you have some!  As always, if you play along, you’re in with a chance of winning a $50 gift voucher to spend at the fabulous Simon Says Stamp store … yum … fill that basket!

I realised while coming up with ideas for this challenge … I make very few cards with critters on them … birds, yes, critters, no.  So it was a wonderful change … and heaps of fun … to come up with a couple of cuties … with a touch of whimsy about them.  Here’s the first, a happy, pensive little bear with some good advice … I hand cut a mask and lightly sponged the background with Tumbled Glass Distress Ink, fading it out to nothing at the top.  The bear and bucket of fish are from MFT’s Polar Bear Pals and were a gift from the lovely Cat (thanks, my friend!) … they’re coloured with Promarkers and trimmed out.  The fish had Spectrum Noir Clear Sparkle added over the top (cause wet fish shine, even when they’re just a thought!) … and the bear was dotted with Blender pen to give him a fun furry look.  I stamped the sentiment onto the snow bank (it’s from Newton’s Nook Happy Little Thoughts, cut apart to make it long), doodled the thought bubbles and filled them with Glossy Accents, then popped up the images up on foam dots in their rightful places.  How about a closer look at that fluffy fur …

Now for a little mouse, not even stirring … mesmerised by the arrival of the Christmas star …      Here, I did all the stamping first … the sentiment is made up with Lawn Fawn’s Milo’s ABC’s … and the mouse and star are from Avery Elle’s Storybook (thanks to my sweet, happy dancing friend, Bev … merci mon amie!).   I used a torn mask to create the snowy landscape, and hand cut masks for the mouse and star … sponged Distress Inks onto the remaining space to create the sky (Tumbled Glass, Antique Linen, Seedless Preserves, Chipped Sapphire) … and spritzed it with a swoosh of Shimmer Spray.  Once it was dry, the images were coloured with Promarkers and covered with Glossy Accents … and the camouflaged word (SSS Christmas Blessings) was cut into the stamped sentiment and pieced back in on craft foam.  This detail shot shows off the shimmer and shine … and the sentiment … a little better … Twas The Night Before Christmas!

If you haven’t already been over there, do pay a visit to the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday blog to check out all the gorgeous cards from the Design Team … you’re sure to be inspired!  I know it’s an especially busy time of year … but I hope you’ll have time to join us this week … furry friends are such fun to play with!  Thanks so much for coming by, your visits and comments are always a joy!    Anita 🙂

Guest Designing at Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge – November 2017 – Week 2

         wed-designerspotlight-header

Hello … bonjour!  Thank you so much for all your lovely words about my tags last week … it’s so exciting to be back for the second time with the Design Team at Simon Says Stamp Wednesday as Guest Designer for November!

wed-newchallenge-header50dollar_voucher_600px          Simon Says Stamp

Our new challenge this week is ‘Snow White‘ … and we’re showcasing products from Reverse Confetti.  You don’t need to use Reverse Confetti goodies to join in … but we’d love to see them if you have some!  As always, if you play along, you’re in with a chance of winning a $50 gift voucher to spend at the fabulous Simon Says Stamp store … wouldn’t that be fun!

I have to admit to having no Reverse Confetti goodies in my stash (yet!) that would be a good fit for the theme … though a sweet friend sent me some Lacy Scalloped Frames recently (merci mille fois, Michele!), that happened to come in so handy for my first card …

This glorious centrepiece is Simon’s Eliza Snowflake die … cut twice in glitter card and twice in plain card, sandwiched together with a fine silver thread running down the centre, to make a double sided embellishment.   The aperture was cut with an MFT Circle Stax 2 die in both the Lacy Scalloped Frame and the card base … and the snowflake was suspended between them.  It twirls on the thread … wish you could see it as it does, it’s so pretty the way it catches the light!  I finished with a sentiment from Simon … the die cut is from Christmas Blessings, the secondary stamped ones (in Delicata Silver ink) are from Thoughtful Messages.  Even though I can’t show you the movement here, I can show you all the shimmer …

My second card is snowy rather than shimmery …

Again, the aperture was cut with an MFT Circle Stax 2 die in the front panel and the card base … this time I added some snowy mesh to the background and created a little village scene, cut  with Simon Village dies, layered up on craft foam.  The sentiment is stamped in Delicata Silver ink and is from Scandinavian Prints Christmas by Neat & Tangled.  This is the day time view … how about a look at the warm and rather magical night time view …

If you haven’t already been, do go over to Simon Says Stamp Wednesday to check out all the gorgeous cards from the Design Team … you’ll be inspired!  Hope you’ll have chance to join in with us this week … a few more additions to your Christmas card stack perhaps?  Thanks so much for coming by, your visits and comments are always a joy!    Anita 🙂

Guest Designing at Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge – November 2017 – Week 1

         wed-designerspotlight-header

Hello … bonjour!  What an exciting day for me today … I’m honoured, thrilled and so delighted to share with you … I’ve been invited to be November’s Guest Designer at Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge … squeal!  Huge thanks to Lols and the team for the invitation … and for the wonderfully warm welcome!

wed-newchallenge-header50dollar_voucher_600px          Simon Says Stamp

As always, there are brilliant challenges coming up for you during the month … and if you play along, you could win a $50 gift voucher to spend at the fabulous Simon Says Stamp store.  This week, our theme is ‘Christmas Tag‘ and we’re showcasing Simon Says Stamp goodies with our creations.  You don’t need to use Simon products to play along … but we’d love to see them if you have some!  We’re also joining my sweet friend, the lovely Tracey McNeely for the first day of her annual 25 Days of Christmas Tags event … Simon Says Stamp is today’s sponsor.

I came up with two tags using the largest die from WPlus9’s Timeless Tags 2 … here’s the first …

This one is cut from watercolour card, masked, stamped and gold heat embossed with a trio of trees/leaves from SSS One With Nature, and watercoloured with Zig Real Brush Markers and a Spectrum Noir Clear Sparkle pen.  The sentiment is part of the SSS Joyeux Noël die, covered with shimmer and coated with a layer of Glossy Accents.  I finished off with a sparkly reinforcer cut from washi and some bakers twine for the tie.  You can’t see much of the shimmer and shine from here so how about a close up …

In contrast to the rich, traditional colours of this first tag, my second one is crisp and positively frosty …

Here I cut a base and a sparkly polka dot vellum overlay for my tag.  The base was blended with Distress Inks in Tumbled Glass, Cracked Pistachio and Mermaid Lagoon … with a concentration of colour in the centre (to go under the snowflake) and a spritz of Shimmer Spray.  I cut the SSS Maryanne Snowflake twice … once in silver foil card and once in white glitter card … layered them up to make a single flake and added a shiny droplet to the centre.  The finished snowflake was adhered to the vellum just in the middle, leaving the ‘arms’ free to be all dimensional.  I die cut the sentiment in silver foil card (again, SSS Joyeux Noël) and fixed it in place underneath the snowflake.  The two tag layers were attached together with multiple strands of silver filament and I threaded a few seed beads onto each end to finish off.  How about a little more detail so you can see all that sparkle and dimension …

If you haven’t already been, do go over to Simon Says Stamp Wednesday to check out all the delicious tags created by the Design Team … you really won’t want to miss them!  I do hope you’re inspired to play along with us this week … just think of all those beautifully wrapped Christmas packages tied up with string … with your gorgeous tags attached to them!  Thanks so much for coming by, your visits and comments are always a joy!    Anita 🙂

A New Challenge At Time Out – #95 Sympathy

Hello … bonjour … hope you’ve been finding some time to create this week!  We start a new challenge at  Time Out this morning … and this fortnight we have a theme for you … Sympathy, with an optional twist of Distressing (using Distress Inks, distressed edges, torn paper etc).   I chose not to twist this time around …

Time OutI find it difficult to make sympathy cards in advance … and prefer to make one only when needed … that way I’m thinking of and praying for the recipient and the family member or friend that they’ve lost as I’m creating.  This card went to a wonderful friend earlier in the year, after the loss of a dear and truly special person in her life.  It’s simply stamped and one layer … the flowers are from Papertrey and have enamel accent centres, the sentiment is from Hero Arts/Simon Says Stamp, and the little glossy accented heart is from Winnie & Walter.  The scored lines ground the images.

Where will our theme take you … and will you go with our distressing twist?  Whichever way you choose, we’d love to see what you create in our gallery.  We’re sponsored this fortnight by Happy Little Stampers (thanks, Kylie), who are offering a $15 GC to a random twister.  As usual, our overall winner, as voted for by the DT, will be invited to guest design with us in a future challenge.  All the details are over at the Time Out blog … along with heaps of inspiration from our brilliant DT … and from our fabulously talented Guest Designer, Sue from Sue’s Card Craft.  If, by some chance, you haven’t seen Sue’s gorgeous cards before, do pay her a visit … her blog is chock full of beautiful work!  Even if you have, why not pop over, say hello, and enjoy a gentle meander through all the loveliness!

Some Flowers, A Rose And Two Love Birds!

Hello … bonjour!  The weekend here seems to have fairly rattled along … guess it’s the same for you too … suddenly Sunday evening has arrived!   I have a trio of cards to share … first up, some delicate blooms …

A gold and pink smooshed and splattered panel, a couple of blooms and a leafy sprig set into a gold frame (Simply Graphic … courtesy of the lovely Maria), and a sentiment (stamp and die cut) from SSS.  The finished panel was popped up on the base … and this was mailed to a sweet and wonderful friend to celebrate a special birthday.

This is heading to …

Carte Maniak – Tâches/Splatters

SSS Monday – Shimmer and Shine

The Flower Challenge – Tic Tac Toe (Distress Ink, Watercolour, Die Cuts)

Pour afficher sur vos blogs ;)

Next, an equally delicate rose …

A white card panel cut with an NBUS MFT Peek a Boo die, with acetate added to the back of the space and the Roses in Bloom die (also MFT, also NBUS) adhered to the acetate.  Distress Inks sponged onto the base card, the panel popped up on craft foam over the top and a banner with the stamped sentiment (SSS) adhered with foam tape over the window.  If you look carefully, you can see the shadow of the rose on the DI background … looks quite cool IRL!

Lastly, a couple of tropical love birds  (the picture has lost it’s crispness … don’t know why … did what I could to freshen it up!) …

A white card panel, masked with a swoosh shaped mask and delicately sponged with Distress Ink, and stamped with some tropical flower/leaf clusters between two popped up, sparkly, shimmery tropical birds (all MFT).  The sentiment is from Hero Arts and some enamel accents in the flower centres and on the birds’ eyes finished it off.    How about a close up of the shimmer and shine …

These two are flying off to …

A New Challenge at Time Out – #92 – Inspired By Words – And Some Feathers

Hello … bonjour!  We have a fun and delicious new challenge starting at Time Out today.  This fortnight, we’re Inspired By Words … and our quote has been specially chosen to celebrate International Dot Day … a day that celebrates creativity and the potential it has for us all.  Our words are from Robert Henri … ‘paint the flying spirit of the bird rather than it’s feathers’.  Here’s where I went with them …

Time OutA tumbling feathers card panel (thanks to the lovely Rosemary … not sure where it’s from … Papertrey, perhaps?), with some Spectrum Noir shimmer added (you can just see some top left), trimmed and adhered flat to the base card.  The sentiment is from SSS … a stacked and black heat embossed die cut … and a stamped and white heat embossed supplementary sentiment.  The only additions were the dots on the i’s, done with enamel accents (ever tried heat embossing a tiny dot … don’t!!).  QACAS as the delightful Darnell would say!

How will our quote inspire you?  You can use all or any of the words to get your imagination going … we’d love to see what you come up with!  This fortnight, we’re sponsored by Happy Little Stampers (thanks, Kylie) and our winner, as voted for by the DT, will receive a $15 GV.  All the details (including a little more about International Dot Day) are over at the Time Out blog, along with heaps of ideas from our fabulous DT and from our Guest Designer, the sweet and super talented Carol from Just Me: C.  I’m pretty sure you’ll know Carol … do pop over and enjoy a happy time browsing round her scrumptious cards … and why not say hello while you’re there … she’ll be delighted to see you!

Inspired By Sweet Friends

Hello … bonjour!  It’s been a bit creatively quiet hereabouts recently … though when I saw that two of my lovely friends (Darnell and Bev) are featuring strongly in the latest Inspired By challenge, I had to squeeze some time to play along!  Many of you will know that Darnell is filling in for Lesley … and that  Bev is her Guest Designer … seeing their gorgeous cards, as well as the delicious inspiration board, triggered a quick creative moment for me …

… and a quick post!  A Clearly Besotted word print background, a little posy made with stamped and die cut flowers and leaves from SSS, a sentiment banner from the same SSS set, and some dots of white Enamel Accents to mimic the touch of gypsophila in the inspiration.  Voilà!
