Hello … bonjour! Our first challenge of 2017 starts today at Time Out … our theme is ‘Winter’ … with the option of ‘White on White’ (only using white except a neutral for the sentiment). Here’s how I interpreted the theme …
A lovely friend (thanks Judith!) sent me some of these aptly named Dazzling Snowflake die cuts (from Memory Box) … and to me this snowflake says winter in a most delicious way! I trimmed down the panel that it was cut into, backed it with white vellum, stamped the Winnie & Walter sentiment in Delicata Silver, added the dots with a silver gel pen and popped on some clear bling. There’s a sentiment inside, also W&W, that reads ‘a bright, brilliant birthday’. I wanted to find a way of allowing the light to shine through the vellum, so I cut a square into the card base leaving a border around the edge, added foam tape over the remaining space, and adhered the snowflake panel over the top. I used a ruler and craft knife … before thinking that it could have been done with a circular or square die, which would have been slightly more straightforward … ho hum, next time! Want to see what it looks like with the light behind it? Voilà …
Bet you already know what a tricky shot that was to get!
So … what ideas is your creative brain already working on for ‘Winter’? We’d love to see what you come up with in our gallery. If you choose to use the option of ‘White on White’, you could win a £15 GC from Uniko in our random draw … and as usual, our overall winner, as voted for by the DT, will be invited to be our Guest Designer in a future challenge. All the details are over at the Time Out blog, along with tons of inspiration from our wonderful DT and our fabulous and talented returning Guest Designer, Claire from Life on the Scrap Heap (who you need to visit if you haven’t already … lots of loveliness to explore!).
I’m sending my snowflake along to play at …
CASology – Cold
Less Is More – Dimension
SSS Monday – Start Afresh (new sentiment set from W&W)
SSS Wednesday – Something New (as above)
SSS Work It Wednesday – Something New with New Product (also as above)

Ding, Ding, Ding, Ding…and the winner is Anita and her gorgeous take on CASology’s “cold” challenge. Might I just say, “knew it all along”. Frosty and elegant (just like you…not the frosty part…you’re the warment creature on earth).
First I thought you made two cards, but no – you tricked me 😉 – looks amazing with the light shining trough! Well worth the effort – ’cause it sound like it took some time to make this beauty! Such a pretty die and you made it shine!
Stunning CAS beauty. Loving the vellum behind the die cut and the bling. Hugs Bev (Uniko) x
