Twofer Card Challenge #32 – Silhouettes

Hello … bonjour! It’s the 10th of the month … welcome to our new Twofer challenge for October, where we’re inviting you to play with …

This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is twofer-dt-32-1.jpg

My common images here are silhouette blooms from Catherine Pooler’s Wild Garden … how about a closer look at each design?

This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is twofer-dt-32a-1.jpg

A one layer card with a background of texture-y looking squares in ombré autumn colours. The squares are from Clearly Besotted and were inked, spritzed and double stamped … first horizontally and then vertically … one overlapping another. I stamped the wild flowers over the them, added a sentiment from Simon and adhered a few gems to finish off.

My second card has a much more summery feel …

This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is twofer-dt-32b.jpg

My design here is centred, with the wild flowers and leaves stamped and white heat embossed onto a crimped frame panel from The Greetery. I blended Distress Inks over the panel, using four blue hues in ombré order, added plenty of Shimmer Spray and did a little white splattering over the top. The sentiment is from Altenew, also white heat embossed. I dry embossed another (larger) crimped frame onto the card base and popped up the finished panel over it.

How would you like to join us with your two distinctly different takes on silhouettes … we’d be delighted to see you (and them) in our gallery!  All the details about how to play along, including rules and FAQs are over at the Twofer blog … along with inspiration galore from the DT and from our fabulous Guest Designers, Carol from Just Me: C and Shawna from The Grand Stampede … welcome ladies!  Do go over and have a visit with Carol and Shawna … you’re sure to be inspired by their wonderful work … and you can always say while you’re there too!

You might notice that the alignment on this post isn’t what it usually is … and links to the company products used aren’t there. That’s because wordpress has changed (as blogger has) and I’m learning how to use the new editor. It isn’t very user friendly (to put it mildly!) so it’ll take a while for me to become familiar with all it’s idiosycracies … I appreciate you bearing with me!

Thanks so much for coming by, your visits and comments are always a joy!  Anita 🙂

A New Challenge At Time Out – #151 – Inspired By Words

Hello … bonjour … and welcome to our last Time Out challenge of 2019.  This fortnight, we’re being Inspired By Words … with this quote from the wonderful CS Lewis … you are never too old to set another goal or dream a new dream.  Here’s where I went with it …

That amazing, dreamy medallion came about as a result of a play session led by Darnell at the Lake House.  I saved it for just the right moment (the birthday of a sweet, non blogging friend) … and still have the other half waiting for it’s share of the limelight.  The panel was made using a stencil (sorry, don’t know the maker or name – ETA:  thanks, Stephanie … it’s from Simon, here) and texture paste mixed with shimmery Lindy’s Magicals (my first time using both).  I trimmed round the curvy edges of the panel and popped it up on craft foam onto a pearlescent blue card base.  The sentiment (Clearly Besotted) was white heat embossed and I added a scattering of tiny pearls to finish.  Here’s a better picture of the variegated colour and all that pearly shine …

Where will CS Lewis’s inspiring words take your creativity?  You can use any or all of them to inspire your card … we’d love it if you played along with us.  We’re sponsored this time around by STAMPlorations (thanks, Shery!) who are offering our winner, as voted for by the DT, a $20 GC.  As usual, our winner will also be invited to Guest Design with us in a future challenge.  The details are over at Time Out, along with heaps of lovely inspiration from our fabulous DT, which I know you won’t want to miss!  In addition, we’re delighted to be joined by our talented Guest Designer … Helen, from Moments of Crafting.  There’s so much to enjoy over at Helen’s blog … do go over for a meander through all the loveliness … and you can always say hello!

My card will be going into the galleries at …

Twofer Card Challenge #22 – Holiday Foliage – With A Twist

Hello … bonjour!  Our last challenge of the year has just launched at Twofer … and we’re inviting you to a rather festive celebration this month … and there’s a fun twist that you can use too, if you’d like to (see below).

Holiday means any holiday … and the greenery can be any foliage, plants and vegetation.  The greenery doesn’t have to be green … it can be any colour as long as you use the same stamp, die and/or stencil for your two different designs.

Now … what’s the twist?  Usually at Twofer, your two different designs need to be for two different occasions.  However, because so many of us are working hard to get our Christmas cards made, for this month only, you have the option of foregoing the two different occasions element of our challenge.  So, you may enter two Christmas or other holiday occasion cards, just as long as your two designs are distinctly different … or you can carry on as usual with two different occasions … it’s up to you!

My twofer features greenery that isn’t green at all … and I chose not to use the twist …

My common elements here are three die cut mistletoe and pine sprigs (from Simply Graphic).  They make up a lush foliage display on my thinking of you card … and a hanging mistletoe bundle on my Christmas design.  Here’s a closer look at each one.

The pink, grey and gold foliage was layered and adhered to a pierced white panel (Winnie & Walter) in the centre third of the card, offset to the right.  The sentiment (Clearly Besotted) was heat embossed onto mid grey card, I trimmed it into a banner and added a gold trim along the lower edge.  The banner was popped up on craft foam under the foliage and acts to ground it.  I used Nuvo Drops and Enamel Accents to add gold and white berries to the mistletoe sprigs … and scattered a few gold sequins to finish off.  The whole panel was adhered flat to an oyster grey card base.

My second design has a more simple look to it …

Here, I went with a central cluster of foliage hanging off a frame (Simply Graphic), to mimic the bundles of mistletoe hung over doorways at Christmas.  The kraft and white colour palette, with the tiny pops of red in the heart, berries and sentiment (Papertrey) has a clean, rustic feel … it puts me in mind of a cabin in snow covered woods.  Yep, I know mistletoe is green with white berries … but we’re card makers … and that means we can use artistic licence if we wish!

How would you like to join us with your two distinctly different takes on Holiday Greenery?  We would love to see what you create in our gallery, whether you use our Christmas time twist or not!  Details of how to play along, including rules and FAQs are at the Twofer blog … together with heaps of wonderful ideas from the DT to inspire you.  We’re delighted to have the lovely Nancy from Scrapper At Heart as our talented Guest Designer this month … welcome Nancy!  I’m sure you’ll have met Nancy already … but do go and enjoy her fabulous Twofer cards … and take the opportunity to have a meander round all the deliciousness on her blog while you’re there.  You can always say hello too!

My foliage display is heading to …

Twofer Card Challenge #21 – Sweets

Hello … bonjour!  It’s the 10th of the month … and that means we have a delicious new challenge for you at Twofer!  This month we’re inviting you to enjoy …

… I chose a pie from Waltzingmouse Stamps (no longer in business) as my common sweets image.  On my CAS one layer autumn greetings card, it’s a pumpkin pie, set on a gingham table cloth, all ready to slice and share.  For my birthday card, I went unconventional this time around … and turned the pie into autumn blooming flowers.  Here’s a closer look at each card …  Here, my simple design puts the pumpkin pie centre stage.  Although it’s one single stamp, I used three different ink colours for it (bit tricky!) … one for the base, another for the crust and the third for the creamy filling (which was covered in Wink of Stella to mimic powdered sugar!).  The pie was masked, I stamped the table cloth (from Clearly Besotted) over it … and added the Pretty Pink Posh sentiment to finish it off.

My unconventional card was a little more involved …

… with the image taking up the lower left corner of my design.  The blooms are made up of Papertrey stems, with the pie flower heads ombré stamped in four colours.  I added the happy birthday sentiment (also Papertrey) and cut the panel with a Winnie & Walter scalloped, pierced die.  The base card was blended around the edges with Distress Ink and the panel was adhered over the top.  I added gems to the flower centres and finished off with a scattering of shimmery sequins topped with bronze Nuvo drops.

How would you like to join us with your two distinctly different takes on sweets … we’d love to see what you create in our gallery!  All the details about how to play along, including rules and FAQs are at the Twofer blog … together with heaps of brilliant ideas from the DT to inspire you.  We have two Guest Designers this month, both talented winners of our August challenge …. a warm welcome to Lisa from My Paper Tales and Marianne from Marianne’s Card ‘n Stuff.  If you haven’t met Lisa and Marianne yet, do go over and enjoy a wander through their blogs … you’ll have a splendid time!  Even if you are familiar with their work, why not pop along anyway … you can always say hello while you’re there!

My pie is going to be shared at …

Twofer Card Challenge #18 – Garden

Hello … bonjour!   We’ve just planted our new challenge over at Twofer this morning … this month we’re inviting you to join us in the …

… here’s what grew in mine …

… a sweep of garden flowers to celebrate a birthday … and a bed full of blooms to say hello, both featuring a large image from Pinkfresh Studio’s Fleur 1 (now retired, though a similar style set is here).  Here’s a closer look at each one …

… first, a one layer card with the large image stamped slightly off the card in the bottom left corner.  I added some additional individual flowers and leaves (also Pinkfresh Studio) … and some doodling … to fill in gaps and create the sweep of garden plants down the folded edge and across the bottom of the card.  It was all loosely watercoloured with Zigs and a water brush.  The sentiment, from Winnie & Walter and Clearly Besotted, runs along the imaginary line at the top one third of the card and was stamped in Delicata Silver (to match the garden stamping).

My twofer is another conventional use of the image …

… this time stamped in Versafine black into the middle of a die cut, scalloped, pierced panel (from Winnie & Walter) … and grounded in the earth along the bottom on a simple, scripty sentiment from Technique Tuesday.  I coloured the image with Catherine Pooler and Distress Inks, added some little black gems to the larger flower centres and popped the panel up on craft foam onto the card base.

Voilà … my two distinctly different designs … for two distinctly different occasions … using the same stamp!

How might you interpret our ‘Garden’ prompt?  We’d love to see you in our gallery with your two distinctly different takes on it!  All the details you need, including rules and FAQs, are over at the Twofer blog … along with heaps of gorgeous ideas from the DT to help spark your imagination.  This month, we also have bitter-sweet news of some changes in the Team … as we bid a fond farewell to the inspirational Loll, who is stepping down as a Designer (though, we’re pleased to say, is staying on as Administrator) … and a happy hello and warm welcome to the very talented Cat from Cat Luvs Paper, who has joined us.  Our Guest Designers are our winners from May’s challenge … Kathy from My Asperations and Robyn from Waterlily Cards by Robyn … welcome ladies!  Do go and enjoy a visit with Kathy and Robyn … you’ll find lots of loveliness to explore … and you can always say hello while you’re there!

Inspired By Sweet Friends

Hello … bonjour!  It’s been a bit creatively quiet hereabouts recently … though when I saw that two of my lovely friends (Darnell and Bev) are featuring strongly in the latest Inspired By challenge, I had to squeeze some time to play along!  Many of you will know that Darnell is filling in for Lesley … and that  Bev is her Guest Designer … seeing their gorgeous cards, as well as the delicious inspiration board, triggered a quick creative moment for me …

… and a quick post!  A Clearly Besotted word print background, a little posy made with stamped and die cut flowers and leaves from SSS, a sentiment banner from the same SSS set, and some dots of white Enamel Accents to mimic the touch of gypsophila in the inspiration.  Voilà!

Spritz, Splatters, Dots and Stripes!

Hello … bonjour … bon dimanche!  Today, I have a few cards to share, inspired by plenty of different challenges (badges at the bottom), so I’ll keep the chat short and sweet!  First in the line up, a delicate little libellule (dragonfly … isn’t it pretty in French!) …

A base card, masked, sponged with Distress Inks, spritzed with Shimmer Spray and white heat embossed with a WPlus9 sentiment.  A white panel splattered with Distress Inks, split and popped up over it, with the lower part stamped with a secondary sentiment (from the same WPlus9 set). A Clearly Besotted libellule, cut in vellum (shimmered) and white, hovers over the ‘water’ as the sun glints on the scattering of rainstones.  Here’s a detail shot …

Next on stage, a bright, summery, almost one layer little pretty …

The flower is from a lovely fresh set from WPlus9, it’s stamped direct onto the card base, and has had white highlights and glossy accents added to dress it up for a party (it is a birthday card after all!).  It’s grounded on a strip of white highlighted striped washi, under which sits a WPlus9 sentiment, and has been very delicately splattered with Distress Ink.  This is appearing at …

Third in the spotlight, a ray of sunshine …

You may be thinking this looks familiar … and you’d be right.  When this card was made, it was ultra clean and embellishment free … this second one (started at the same time) has put on it’s party outfit … now it glows!  The extra’s include an ombre sponged sentiment, all shimmered up, lots of splattery party confetti, and jewels in the form of Lucy’s Little Things (thanks, Judith!).  This is partying at …

Finally, after all that sunshine, a cool, fresh, calm card to finish …

A white panel, stamped with a Papertrey Ombre Builders background in grey, two Concord & 9th leaves, die cut from a piece of smooshed-with-greens watercolour card, and adhered flat, and a sentiment from SSS.  The panel was popped up on craft foam on the base.  This is joining in at …

A French Hen, Two Happy Bears And A Rainbow Village

Hello … bonjour!  I’m finishing the weekend with a trio of cards that are bright, colourful, happy and fun … here’s the first …

A little French hen from Essentials by Ellen, who came to roost at my house after a long trip across the pond (thanks Michele!) … coloured with Promarkers … perched on a rainbow backed Studio Calico die cut with a Waltzingmouse stamped sentiment … and carrying a trio of W&W shimmery balloons.

A Trio of Cards

Hello … bonjour!  Hope your Sunday is going along wonderfully.  I have a trio of cards to share today, so will keep the chatter short and sweet … you may wish to grab a something long and cool and a snack before embarking!  First up, a wild flower, summer meadow-y sort of card …

Papertrey blooms, stamped onto a white panel and blinged up with some Stickles.  The sentiment (also Papertrey) was cut into the panel, popped up on craft foam and pieced back in.  The panel was popped up over a sponged-edged base card.  As it was for a special birthday celebration, I stamped a matching envelope too …

I’m playing along at …

Next, a clean and simple, slightly graphic card …

This was really quick to make … I used the Hero Arts Just For You by Lia stamp set, exactly as it’s laid out on the acetate carry sheet … stamped it onto a Winnie & Walter scalloped pierced panel and coloured it with alcohol markers.  The images were given some shimmer and shine with Wink of Stella and Glossy Accents and the panel was adhered to the base with craft foam.

This is heading to …

A Blog Named Hero – Florals (with Winnie & Walter)

A2Z Scrapbooking – Anything Goes (Hero Arts)

Finally, a bright, smooshy little number …

Another Winnie & Walter scalloped pierced panel, cut from a piece of Distress Ink smooshed card … with a touch of gold thrown in for a bit of shimmer.  The gold isn’t too obvious here … you’ll see it better if you go in closer.  The Clearly Besotted dandelions were heat embossed in white, I added the simple sentiment (also CB), dotted over the piercings with a black fine liner and mounted the panel onto the card base with craft foam.

It’s joining in the fun at …
