Twofer Card Challenge #5 – Butterflies

Hello … bonjour!  Welcome to another Twofer Card Challenge … this month, we have a lovely prompt for you … perfect for this time of year.  It’s …

Here’s how my fluttery friends landed …

My common stamp here is from Uniko‘s English Country Garden – Butterflies set … it ranks as my current favourite butterfly image (I used the smaller of the two here), it’s so beautifully detailed and lends itself to both line art stamping and to colouring (especially the large one after heat embossing).  Here’s a closer look at that first kaleidoscope of flutterers …

A one layer birthday card, simply stamped in ombré pinks to purples along one edge … a sentiment from Winnie & Walter in grey with the supplementary ‘birthday’ from SSS nestled beneath, in the same colour as the adjacent butterfly … and a scattering of glimmery gems to match.  CAS and done!

My Twofer …

A friendship card … clean and crisp once again … with a little more dimension than the first.  I die cut a circle from the front panel, adhered a piece of brusho’d paper (there’s still a little left from the Lake House!) direct onto the card base and popped the panel up on craft foam over it.  The butterfly was stamped onto vellum in white pigment ink, heat set, trimmed out and had a little shimmer added with Wink of Stella (which combined with the ink, gave it a soft, frosty look … happy accident!).  It was adhered along the body to the brusho’s, I drew in the antenna with a white gel pen, added some glossy accents to the body and folded the wings up.  The sentiment is from SSS … IMO a delightful sentiment for a friend … and it seems to go along just so with the butterfly.  It’s stamped, trimmed and adhered with foam dots.   I took a close up so you could see the shimmery, shiny detail …

Voilà … my two distinctly different designs … for two distinctly different occasions … using the same stamp!

Where will our ‘Butterfly’ prompt take you this month?  We’d love to see your two distinctly different cards … for two distinctly different occasions … using the same stamps or dies … in our gallery!  All the information you need, including timescales, guidelines, rules and FAQs,  along with heaps of fantastic inspiration from the simply splendid DT … is over at the Twofer blog … it’s just a click away!  We’re delighted to have two Guest Designers with us this time round … Linda from Life In The Craft Lane and Mac from The Sweetest of Peas, winners of our March challenge.  Do go and have a visit with Linda and Mac … apart from their delicious Twofer cards, you’ll find loads of wonderful inspiration to meander through and enjoy!

My birthday card is going to be celebrating at …

What a glorious array of pink butterflies, Anita, and on that wonderful linen cs. Your Brusho background is the perfect place for your beautiful vellum butterfly to flit around in.

Oh my goodness, Anita! You had me at butterfly, first of all. 🙂 Your butterflies are beautiful and I adore your two distinct takes on using them. The ombre is lovely on the CAS card. Your second card is stunning with that background and the lovely embossed butterfly on vellum. Fantastic work! Hugs!

Absolutely CAS perfection on both cards. The colours of the first one are so pretty and loving the grey ‘Happy’ sentiment and the pretty colour of the ‘Birthday’ nestling underneath and what a lovely stamp. Love the mixed media elements on your second card and then keeping it perfectly CAS. The vellum butterfly looks beautiful, happy accident and all. The sentiment for a friend is perfect too. Thank you for the fabulous inspiration and for the kind and generous shout out x

Two amazing cards, Anita! Your one-layer birthday card is so elegant with the linen texture, ombre inking and grey sentiment! How cool that the “birthday” nestled in so well even though they are from two different companies! The intricate detail of your butterfly image looks so delicate on the vellum, and pairs perfectly with the bold Brusho background! Such a great Twofer, Anita!

Gorgeous cards Anita! Love the ombre and masked butterflies flying across your happy birthday card. So pretty! Your white embossed vellum butterfly is AMAZING … so soft and delicate. Looks right at home on that beautiful brushos background. You’re right, perfect sentiment to go with this design. xx

This is indeed a lovely, delicate butterfly (and I am happy that I recently got this set although it is still NBUS)! Love the ombre look on the first card and how you tucked in the tiny “birthday” into the “happy”! And the shimmering vellum butterfly on the Brushos circle looks fantastic! Beautiful CAS designs!
    Enjoy your weekend, my friend!

Two very pretty and CASlicious twofer cards, Anita! That linen card and your elegant designs make these two very sophisticated works of art! I love those pretty butterflies both in ombre pink-to-purple hues and pure as the driven snow in vellum! You are right about how sensational that vellum looks against the bold Brusho background!! LYAMYMA! HAGWOSS! (I beg your pardon?!) Hugs, Darnell xxoo

What amazing cards!! I LOVE the first one with the row of purple/pink butterflies. For some reason I am into different shades of purple. The second card with the amazing way you shaded the circle and the butterfly POPPING out-just beautiful!!

What’s better than one beautiful butterfly card, why another, of course! Both cards are gorgeous in their own way. I love that fluttery little image. Definitely a scene stealer. The brusho’s on your second card really appealed to me because it makes me think of dappled light through the trees on a warm sunny day. Perfect for butterflies! Thanks so much for sharing your beautiful cards Anita on the All About Occasions, “Anything Goes” challenge at Watercooler Wednesday this week. Awesome!

J’ADORE ! Bises

What a twofer! Must admit it’s the second card that made me gasp. That spot of blue/green is just so calming. Perfect companion for your vellum butterfly. (Love that you’re still enjoying remnants of the Lake House trip 🙂

Two super cards Anita, the first in pretty quite pastel shades with that beautiful border of butterflies, and then the second with that circular aperture with much brighter colours and the die cut vellum butterfly looks great. x
